Blossoming is that soup and porridge only? Plus drinks? I could live on that for a couple of weeks.

More or less. I’m doing a modified 5:2 diet, porridge and soup Monday to Friday then ‘normal’ meals Saturday and Sunday. I won’t go mad at the weekend, but I will try to make healthy choices. I’m going to give it a go for at least 2 weeks and see how I get on. I love porridge and soup smile

The Glasgow Uni ‘Lentil Soup and Porridge’ clinical trial gave me the idea,

Sheltered, not Shetland!

Blossoming Sun 06-Feb-22 19:25:40

Oops, hit post too soon there. I’m starting my ‘soup and porridge’ based eating plan tomorrow, wish me luck!

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. Good to see you in here Cornergran and nanaandgrampy. Lovely pic kitty hope you’re enjoying your trip.

Today’s walk was interesting, I set off in sunshine but as the wind was still howling I avoided the waterside and instead took a more Shetland woodland path. No spring flowers there yet, just some cheerful, but spiky, yellow gorse. When I was almost home the sky turned black and a tremendous shower of hailstones struck me! My hat, gloves, coat, boots and jeans were all soaked in the space of 2 minutes. I was nearly home by then, got changed and had a big mug of hot chocolate. The sun came out again a few minutes later ?

I’ve not had the chicken jalfrezi curry for ages Urms it’s on my list for tomorrow now!
Thanks for the picture of the rainbow kitty, isn’t nature just wonderful ?

‘Evening All’

All washed, wiped and tidied away after dinner with my stepfather. We sat down in the Loungers Bar down below us for a pre-prandial drink. Nice to people watch and my stepfather enjoys being out of the house and enjoying his pint. I left them a bit earlier to come up in the lift to get the roasties going in the oven!

Himself took him home an hour ago. The winds were definitely getting up again.

Last night we had the chicken jalfrezi curry brook but I must admit, I like them all!

I’m going to finish watching ‘The Teacher’ on My5 now. Sheridan Smith plays a great part - she’s very talented.

kittylester Sun 06-Feb-22 17:43:26

We have a rainbow.

NanaandGrampy Sun 06-Feb-22 17:25:19

Thank you all for your kind good wishes , its truly much appreciated.

Soop your hairdresser is a gem .

Hope everyone is not having quite as much rain as us... the sun is in danger of drowning !! :-)

xx

Thank you brook I can image that wonderful silence you get with snow, I’m happy.
Blustery rain showers here in the south, not interesting at all.

brook2704 Sun 06-Feb-22 15:32:49

No worries grandmabatty hope that wind drops soon. Your lunch or brunch sounds good - hope you enjoyed it
My Fitbit does the same buzzing as yours - so I’m just back from a quick walk in the woods at the back of our house!

Grandmabatty Sun 06-Feb-22 13:45:11

Should say Brook. My apologies.

Grandmabatty Sun 06-Feb-22 13:44:35

JaxJacky I feel cold just looking at those photos!! No snow in Polmont but a wind that would cut you in two. I walked to Aldi for a couple of things I had forgotten and was freezing by the time I walked home. I've had a small plate of soup and sausage, bacon, haggis, egg and a tattie scone as a treat. I never have a cooked breakfast/lunch but fancied one today. Gammon and sweetheart cabbage for dinner much later. My Fitbit is buzzing me to get up and get moving so I'll bod you adieu. Enjoy your Sunday kitcheners.

brook2704 Sun 06-Feb-22 13:09:05

Snow flurries/sleet and occasional rain here! Bar walking Ddog we have no need to leave house. Will plough on with admin. Housework. Archers omnibus will start shortly. Have listened since I got married. Oddly comforting.
No idea what's for lunch or tea. But I found loads of Christmas chocolate biscuits from M and S (within date!) in a cupboard yesterday. Help yourselves. Seventy minutes til elevenses. TOYA

flowers Cornergran It’s good to hear you’re coping. More flowers for N&G.

We seem to have had a procession of work chaps at our house. Yesterday someone came to take away the furniture we no longer need first thing yesterday. He was swiftly followed by a roofing company who were repairing the inside of the roof. The linings between the rafters had popped out so they are fitting them back into place and bracing them with battens.

A discussion arose between the boss and dh which ended with the boss agreeing to buy dh’s motorbike which has stood unused in the garage for probably 20 years. That necessitated a van & trailer being brought to the house, the bike loaded onto it and so on. Very sad to see it go but it needs restoration and dh will never do it so better it goes to a good home. The boss says he’ll take dh out for a spin when it’s on the road again. I said ‘What about me?’ and he agreed I’ll get a shot too. grin

Then we took garden rubbish to the dump, followed by a supermarket visit for some fresh food. It was so cold out though yesterday and today have been bright and sunny.

Today we’ve been doing more house sorting out. Really, it’s more a matter of rearranging things, I suppose. Dh has been cleaning windows - the house reeks of the heady fumes of Windolene! I went through all our CD’s (we’re not that stuck on streaming), ejected the likes of Justin Beiber and McFly and Spice Girls, all of which were our dds’ music, and now all our music is put away tidily, A-Z. In all fairness it’s not truly alphabetical, as I’ve not filed them within each letter but at least we know roughly where it all is.

We had bacon sandwiches to eat this evening, yum yum! Tomorrow we’re off to our DD’s for a pub lunch. Can’t wait to see the GC, it’s been over a month. Apparently, the 4yo wants to come for a sleepover with us - ‘Four nights, and you’re not invited, mummy and daddy!’ ?

Have a lovely evening, all. Xxx

Envious of the seaside kitty enjoy.
Never mind curry brook, do you have more snow? I need to know so I can vicariously enjoy it.

brook2704 Sat 05-Feb-22 20:27:39

Is it the Thai red or the Thai green curry or something else Urms - they’re so easy and yummy aren’t they? One of my favourites

gillgran Sat 05-Feb-22 20:22:23

This warm & friendly kitchen is a welcome refuge for all of us on this chilly, breezy winter evening.

Kind thoughts for N&G, & to all with extra worries. flowers

Enjoy a break at the Suffolk seaside, kittylester.

Thinking of soop as you prepare for your stay at Ross Hall.

Urmstongran Sat 05-Feb-22 20:07:51

Enjoy your holiday kittylester ??☀️

Blossoming Sat 05-Feb-22 20:00:25

Good evening dear Kitcheners, thank you for your encouragement. The ‘Healthier You’ course has definitely helped to motivate me and the information very useful. The instructor Emma doesn’t tell us what to eat etc., but encourages us to make our own healthier choices. It’s been absolutely wild weather here. The Met app told me the rain was about to stop so I went out for my walk, the Met app lied. After about 5 minutes the wind tried hard to blow me into the dock and icy cold needles of rain battered me. Good job I had the big coat on grin. I had to hang on to the railings a few times on the way back, but I did it and I’m glad. There’s a better forecast for tomorrow, but we shall see ..

Have a lovely evening all, goodnight x

‘Evening All’

We’ve had a quiet, relaxing afternoon here. Sleety rain put us off going out. Brr! Himself has been watching rugby (I have zero interest) and I’ve been reading and chatting to two friends in Yorkshire. One call was with the 86y old lady who lived on our landing in Spain. It was so nice to ring her and chat away for half an hour.

I’ve just popped a Bigham’s curry in the oven and after after that I’m going to find something to watch on Netflix or catch up tv.
