Good Morning Sunday 23rd January 2022

Good morning everyone from a grey Northampton, no frost and the temperature outside is 4° C.

Pleased to say that the cats behaved themselves at the vets and let him do a good health examination and give them their annual jabs. They got treats when they got home, and I had a coffee. Spent the rest of the day reading, doing the crosswords and watching tv. DH and I used to love watching NCIS, and I found a channel showing back to back episodes - I do love Jethro (Mark Harmon)....

Caught up with some laundry yesterday as well, and have just put another load in the machine. Was intending to watch my rugby team on tv this afternoon; they were due to play in Paris, but the match was cancelled as a lot of them had tested positive. May ring a friend instead.

Good morning Mick and everyone, a dull cloudy day today, no frost but no sun either.
I spent most of yesterday renaming photos on my PC, replacing the computer generated code, gosh there are so many! I think they must replicate each other…… I rename one and then the same photo pops up over and over, so many to delete.
Lots of Family Tree photos and if I don’t name them no one else will know who they are, even MrOops was saying “who’s that then?” and some of them were his relatives, so no chance of him remembering my side of the family. Anyway hundreds more to do, so I’ll try to do some more today, this stay at the top of my to do list for Jan/Feb.
Chicken soup made last night will be for lunch, with some left over Gammon I cooked on Friday and some part baked rolls I found in the cupboard, bought for Christmas?
Lovely to see another baby safely delivered,
I’m another one who loves to bake, but with the family on permanent diets, I haven’t done any since Christmas Eve.

Good morning from a cool, dry and overcast south Cornwall. Four-year-old went home yesterday proudly carrying a scene made from polystyrene with toy soldiers, nails and wire pushed into it, plus wooden forks 'as trees, Nana!' Apparently he took it to bed. He's off fossil-hunting with his mum, dad and sister to Lyme Regis today. A painting day for me with a break for coffee at Wetherspoons at some point. Have a good day, everyone.

DD1 has just sent through some present ideas for DGS. He will be 13 next weekend.

Good morning from a dry NE.
Busy day with the family yesterday, they stayed until 10.30 last night. DIL brought the meal, fresh pasta and sauces.
GD did her piano practice and then played some of her favourite pieces.
When I was dusting the study I bumped the CCTV monitor and it had to be reset, I must have put the wrong password in because it locked me out. DS looked at it when he came and corrected it in 30 seconds, I had put the password in with the caps lock on which made the numbers gobbledegook
I am rubbish at technology, so why did DH update everything in the last 6 months.
Quiet day for me today.

The DGC have just woken us, after too short a sleep. They were late to bed so I think they will be grumpy later on. They are being collected for Sunday school in an hour or so.

That’s annoying for you Kitty - mind you, I wish I could go to JL - it’s a long drive from here.

Migraines are awful Ashcombe, glad you recovered quickly. My first experience of migraine was at a concert where I passed out in the foyer and ended up in hospital after an ambulance was called. At first it was thought that I’d had a stroke as I temporarily lost the use of my arm. I had them sporadically over a period of ten years which was put down to fluctuations in hormone levels.

Quiet day today, I’ll see if I can drag DH out for a walk later after I’ve been to church. I’d hoped to drop over to see DD but she and her eldest both tested positive yesterday.

Good Morning Mick and all from grey dark dry Carlisle.
I woke with a migraine this morning, associated with a bit of a kidney infection, I am prone to both. The migraines are nothing like the ferocious beasts they used to be and this one has been rather alleviated by paracetamol so I shall carry on as usual. Vigorous activity wasn't planned anyway though...a few minor jobs and then a new book I think.
DS2 is due back from Edinburgh at lunchtime. He has been boasting about getting 61mpg out of my little car when I have said I couldn't get beyond 58. It will have been good for it to get a long run.
Yesterday I started researching a long postponed, due to covid, trip to Kiev but checked the FCO advice first. It's still a no-go, due to the Russians this time. Essential travel only. I would risk it but the insurance companies won't. My travel bucket list is not getting shorter these days and I am getting older meanwhile.

I like the looks of that marmalade grandMattie. I've given up making it now there's only me. Plus I can now buy marmalade hereabouts that's just like homemade. A local stately home, Dalemain, has (had, before covid) a marmalade festival every February. From small beginnings, it has got very popular. Must check to see if it's going ahead this year.

A quiet day planned after a busy couple of days in West Wales.We did more sorting of FIL’s bedroom and study.A lot still to do.We managed a glimpse of the sea and I thought of Cherry across the estuary and Lins further down the coast visiting her precious new granddaughter?

I am very happy today to report that my blood sugars are back to normal?When we had Covid over Christmas my readings shot up and the GP said it was due to the virus and also the sinus infection I had at the same time?it has taken a month for them to settle down,such a relief.

Hope you are feeling better today Ash?and glad that you are felling better Mary?long may it continue??

I was at a Burns Night on Zoom (a First) last night which was really enjoyable.

Today, slightly hungover, I am expecting the DD and family for lunch. Soup and a sandwich.

Sorry to hear about the migraine Ash and such a lot of sufferers. DD used to have dreadful ones and thought she was going blind. She was helped with Homeopathy.

Good morning all from a cold but dry Herts, haven't checked the temperature but am pretty sure it's not much above 0.
This week my DIL and myself went to check out a couple of nurseries for DGS. They were both fine and we decided which to go with. However that evening the lady we met and talked to, contacted my DIL to say she had tested positive for Covid. Thankfully we've both been negative since so hopefully we haven't picked it up from her.
Like most people we've been increasing our heating times as it's so cold and no doubt there will be a big bill coming soon.

I have chicken stuffed with garlic and lemon in the slow cooker. Should have a bay leaf in it too but I don't have any but I'm sure it will be fine. Have a good day all ?

A good walk yesterday with friends, from Himley to Baggeridge and back, with a coffee stop.

A phone chat in the afternoon with my Aunt (Mums sister) who lost her husband Wednesday. They had been together since she was 14!

No plans today, maybe a walk with MrJ

Thanks for the wave Susan I am sure there is a lot to do clearing up after your fil. That reminds me, I kept my mil's sewing box and was glad of it yesterday. I knitted a cardigan for the baby and got my needle threader out to sew on the buttons ( always last minute), it broke. Tbh I had forgotten about the box which was in the garage, Mr Lins remembered it and inside were not one but two threaders, sorted.

Good morning from a rather grey Rutland, it was +5 at 8am and feels warmer, with (unusually) no breeze/wind at all.

When DGD2 (10) called in yesterday, she said she was intending to make a chocolate fudge cake. We have been invited over for a slice and cup of tea later, if it’s gone to plan!

I can empathise with the migraine sufferers. Mine started at 12 and over the years, I explored every avenue to try to alleviate them. Attacks were horrendous and really shaped my life for such a long time. Now taking medication following a heart attack, I seldom suffer, except for the occasional 20 minute aura. Apparently, they often skip a generation, so just hoping they don’t affect the DGC.

Off to allotment later to prune autumn fruiting raspberries. It will be good to be up there when the wind’s not blowing!

Gooooood morning from a dull Yorkshire. Feeling like a lump of nothingness hahaha.

Well yesterday i wanted to go to a local department store, it reminds me of childhood days when i used to go with my mum and dad. Anyway, our visit to the department store was soooo fulfilling, fulfilling in so much as it was a good, old fashioned welcome the minute we walked through the door. I saw 1 of the shop assistants link up with a shopper to help her down a slope in the store, there were plenty of seating and rails for people to help gets around and have a rest. Brilliant. We had lunch there then looked around the store.

Later we went for a drink to the pub up the road wìth a roaring open fire, ooooooo it was FANTASTIC.

Ladyleftfieldlover your post about London brought back soooo many fabulous memories, heck i must have been to London over 20 times, love it. Walked allllllll over, couldnt do it now but I DID IT....

A lot of migraine around on this thread today. I used to get them badly but a work colleague told me about fennel. Steep it in boiling water to make a tea.

I don't know if it was the placebo effect but over a couple of months it seemed to cure me.

Re the Dalemain Marmalade festival I mentioned above, post your entries for their competition by 11 February. Winners get their awards at the festival which is now in May, where you can buy all the lovely marmalades. Not connected to them btw, just a marmalade-olic!

Good morning Mick and everybody. Grey skies in my corner of Lancashire this morning, currently 7°C. No real plan for today, bacon rolls for brunch, a Sunday treat. A walk later, I am trying to walk for one hour a day. It doesn’t get me very far as I am very slow and have frequent stops, but along with using the exercise bike it is definitely helping strengthen my legs.
