Can you recommend a good body lotion

The body lotion I have been using has now been discontinued and I am struggling to find something that suits my dry skin. I am happy to look at anything from cheap and cheerful to one that I might use as a treat. Any recommendations?

Thanks everyone for your recommendations, some great ideas for me to try.

I like E45 for my dry skin.

(and I only do my knees and elbows!)

This did make us laugh, when I told my husband. I bet you’ve got elbows and knees to die for ?. Love to see pics.

Aveeno is nice.

Use Tesco’s own brand coconut body lotion comes in a brown container I really like it.

Hetty It concerns me when organisations like EWG imply that products contain substances that, for example, they say are ‘linked to cancer’, without any indication of the dose required or route of ingestion required to induce cellular changes in human beings.
It seems unnecessary scaremongering and yes I’m cynical enough to think they probably have their own commercial interests at heart too.

janeainsworth, they list ingredients of concern. Yes, there's probably better sources of information.

At least, though (unlike my friend) I don't strip all the oils from my skin with harsh detergents and shower scrubbies - to find my skin 'dry', then smother myself in dodgy chemicals - and wonder why I don't feel so good.

She's careful about what she eats, yet seems to think it's great that these lotions 'sink in'!

Do you trust the Environmental Working Group as a source of scientific information Hetty?
Do you know anything at all about who they are, who funds them, what research they base their scores on?

I get Dove in the maroon pot when it's on offer. Very creamy and rubs in easily. Works for me.

Love Clarins body lotion, but it’s too expensive for every day use, so I’m using Aveeno which does the job.

I like Nivea...lots of different versions of this but I am enjoying the coconut one at the moment. Molten Brown if given some for Xmas or birthday.

I highly recommend Superdrug Vitamin E Body Butter. Just the right consistency, and absorbs quickly. So, so good.

Another vote for the Body Shop body butter - really thick and moisturising and great for my dry legs! I have tried other body butters, but none have been as good as the Body Shop ones.

Coconut oil - I'm allergic anyway, but I wouldn't ever put any petrochemicals on my skin.

Soupy Sun 23-Jan-22 19:48:22

I tried Aveeno but found it too sticky for me.
Superdrug Vitamin E cream is just right www.superdrug.com/Skin/Body-Care/Body-Creams/Superdrug-Vitamin-E-All-Over-Body-Cream-475ml/p/780264?gclid=CjwKCAiAlrSPBhBaEiwAuLSDUMjg6NhANMCxVwSeA61xlA8JMRtaxce9XW7dGs1z2gQy_JBBmj3-4RoC2JEQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

CeraVe - brilliant! Use the cream at night and the lighter lotion in the morning. Same for face now I use prescription Retinol and need a more gentle moisturising system, and it’s reasonable price too.

grandMattie

Sago

I use Aqueous cream £1 for a huge tub, I add a few drops of essential oil so it smells better!

I use it too, but pay some £5 for a big tub. Where do you get yours?

poundland or the mighty pound or similar.
i start with the cheapest and pay more only if necessary.
they are all mostly the same, but people pay more for the marketing of brand names.

The Bodyshop's Honey and Almond Milk is wonderful. Good for itchiness too.

I also like Aveeno, but my favourite is Liz Earle's Botanical Body Lotion. It smells delicious and a little goes a long way.

DiscoDancer1975 Sun 23-Jan-22 18:26:32

I lone Aveeno too. Only buy when on offer. I love the almond one.

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 23-Jan-22 18:12:30

We use Aveeno.
