It occurred to me today that it is only a couple of months or so until April, when the sail blinds go back up in the conservatory to reduce glare and heat???????

So sorry, but what drab weather ;)

Rosina Tue 25-Jan-22 15:49:09

Ah -MissAdventure too - I might start a 'Frenzy Club' for us when the weather hots up!

Rosina Tue 25-Jan-22 15:47:08

FannyCornforth a kindred spirit - I too am odd. I find heat intolerable, and feel so much happier when I can dress properly.

MissAdventure Tue 25-Jan-22 15:18:05

I come into moaning minnie mode in the summer.
I despise it.

Mapleleaf Tue 25-Jan-22 15:09:11

I don’t think posters are being “moaning Minnie’s”. There have been a lot of grey, dull skies lately, and it’s a fact that for some people this is difficult, and can cause some people to suffer - SAD syndrome is well documented. Suggesting that people emigrate to sunnier climes and/or count themselves lucky to be alive are comments that are neither helpful nor kind.

I'm not a huge fan of the heat but now that I'm older I realize the importance of Vitamin D for health. I don't believe the drab weather would be so troublesome if Covid was not a factor...sunshine increases happiness energy and overall in my opinion is very good for the mind body and the soul;)

However drab and grey it is right now, you could go out and take a close look at what look like stark, bare trees and shrubs. Buds are coming through, the sap is literally rising. It's great to see and to know that soon there'll be spring. Or read the book called 'Winter' which gives a whole new take on the season, about slowing down and waiting and simply being in the moment.

There’s no such thing as bad weather - just the wrong clothes! ?☃️☂️?
The snowdrops are starting to appear here (Lancs.). ?

Seabreeze Tue 25-Jan-22 13:42:45

I’m in the south east and we have had some 14 sunny days this month. Not today though ! I love the sunshine lifts my mood no end.

Alioop Tue 25-Jan-22 13:37:20

Weather has been ok here in Co.Antrim, cold but thankfully dry. Getting great dog walks and washing out on the line, weather forecast gives it breaking at the weekend though. Roll on Easter I say ??

JdotJ Tue 25-Jan-22 13:21:18

What a moaning Minnie. Always emigration to warmer climbs if not happy, OR, maybe hibernation until Spring.
OR, count yourself lucky you're alive

My birthday is 11th Jan and our wedding anniversary the 19th. Good timing! We've had wall to wall grey here for days on end but sun is due Friday apparently. It's January, what else can we expect? I'm just reading a book about the winter of 1962/3 and it was terrible. Weeks of compacted snow and ice. We should think ourselves lucky!

Joesoap Tue 25-Jan-22 12:23:07

I dont live in the UK, and today is a wonderful day, we have had -1 during the night, its now sunny with clear blue skies. Its been quite a mild January for here, and we are setting our sights on spring time around the corner.

Sadgrandma Tue 25-Jan-22 12:16:22

I was looking forward to Spring as we planted a lot more bulbs this year. However, I now wonder how many will come up as the blasted squirrels have had a banquet. They just sat on the fence, bulb in paws, looking at us defiantly even when we shouted at them! I bought some squirrel repellent but fear it was a case of shutting the stable door ….

East Neuk of Fife and we have had really good weather so far, some great sunny days and fab sunsets at night. My Snowdrops look lovely. We have been really lucky with the Winter so far and it is nearly Spring.

SillyNanny321 Tue 25-Jan-22 11:55:49

Love the first signs of Spring. Hopefully will be able to walk a bit better by then. Problems with my shoulders means I cannot walk with my stick now after around 25+ years. Cold & damp means I have problems moving anyway. So will be really happy with warmer weather. Lots of new growth plants, trees blooming, blue skies & warm weather - lovely!

Supergran1946 Tue 25-Jan-22 11:50:47

Each year (except during lockdown) I invite a couple of friends round for an “I hate January” supper. We all hate it, and say we never mind cold weather if the sky is blue, but cannot stand grey, dank days.

nipsmum Tue 25-Jan-22 11:48:11

Here I North East Scotland we have had a week of mostly dry weather and beautiful blue skies

kwest Tue 25-Jan-22 11:38:00

I'm with whitewave. Something in-between. I love May, my favorite month of the year. Not too hot, not too cold. Long days, bliss in the garden. I will be in my greenhouse in a few weeks planting seeds, potting on with my little radio on channel 4, seeing bulbs appearing and I know life will look better. I am a bit of a fair weather gardener which is probably cheating, but arthritic knees give me my come-uppance if I get too cold. Really annoying because when I become absorbed in the gardening I don't notice the pain in my knees. I admire the ladies that love this time of year, I will try to take something from that and plan more indoor projects for next year at this time. I would really like to turn into one of those people who have an immaculately tidy home with all clutter removed. I wonder if I could make that my goal for the end of next winter?

sandelf Tue 25-Jan-22 11:34:19

As a cold body who always had chilblains and bleeding lips through winter - I'm content with 'dull' - it won't be for long.

Larsonsmum Tue 25-Jan-22 11:26:45

I love all weather, all seasons and find the unpredictability fun! I spend my days accordingly - outdoors when fine, doing plenty indoor activities when not ideal for being out. Love the dark wintery afternoons here in north-east Scotland. Despite having numerous illnesses, it is great to be alive whatever the weather, when so many I knew no longer have that option.

grandtanteJE65 Tue 25-Jan-22 11:25:40

I am tired of the weather chopping and changing.

Since New Year we have had frost, plus 5 and rain, frost, snow, plus 6 and rain, gale force winds and rain, frost, gale force winds approaching hurricane strength and rain.

This cycle seems to be on a loop with maiximum two days of the same kind of weather.

I would be delighted with consistent frost for all of February, as here if the weather is mild in January and February we usually get a horrible, wet, cold, spring and summer.

Nothing we can do about it, except grin and bear it!

Theoddbird Tue 25-Jan-22 11:19:16

Time is precious...never wish it away. I was wearing sunglasses one day last week and I have noticed new life appearing on trees and snowdrops pushing up smile

We should definitely form a little club so that we can have a moan together in the Summer. smile

Agree.

Susieq62 Tue 25-Jan-22 11:09:24

Bitterly cold here in West Yorkshire but last week we had a walk and sat in the sun drinking coffee?‍♀️
22-25 is good for me ! I hate grey days !
