Did you know that collagen and gelatin are the same thing? It's called collagen inside the body and forms connective tissue i.e. skin, tendons, ligaments etc. It's called gelatin when skeletal tissue and other animal waste is rendered down as a by product of meat production. (Vegans and vegetarians take note! This is where collagen comes from whether you swallow it or apply it externally!) A rose by any other name...

Whatever the beauty industry tells us, (and they try hard to convince us), both substances are broken down to exactly the same amino acids in the digestive system and used to repair and build new proteins.

The offer of collagen powder on GN today normally retails at £6.25 per 100g (40% off your first order fetches it down to £2.50/100g. The offer is a 400g tub for £24.99)

Amazon sells a gelatin powder for approx £1.60 per 100g. Some is even cheaper.

paleoleap.com/all-about-gelatin-and-collagen Read right to the end of this one. It's not long winded and won't blind you with science! If it doesn't work as a link, just copy and paste or type it in.

tanith

Callistemon21 they’ll steal your bag if you don’t hang on tight if there is food inside.

It was very traumatic, tanith!
She had her toddler with her and got a biscuit out for him and the apes were there in a flash, in her bag, we were shouting "throw the packet of biscuits away" but she didn't speak English and our German was somewhat limited.

I was ready to grab the toddler but she got it eventually!

Robert Burns was the first person to feature on Coca Cola bottles in 2009, in celebration of the 250th anniversary of his birth.

I doubt he would have drunk it, unless he was desperate!

When people thought there was a vampire near by, they would dig up the dead to see if they were in their coffins. Believing that the deceased's hair and nails had continue to grow, increased their belief that they were the un dead.

They didn't understand that with decomposition the skin on the hands and scalp shrinks back, giving the impression that hair and nails are longer than at the time of burial.

Sorry for the gruesome post but it was the only thing I could think of and yes, I also tried to hum while pinching my noseblush.

Callistemon21 Thu 27-Jan-22 20:35:07

I tend to eat garlic, Smileless ?

Smileless2012 Thu 27-Jan-22 20:40:18

Me too Callistemon better safe than sorry and it has been known to keep Mr. S. at bay if he hasn't eaten any toogrin.

Callistemon21 Thu 27-Jan-22 20:41:59

???

Did you know that a flock of goldfinches (a flock? I've only ever seen five!) is called a Charm?

Coastpath Thu 27-Jan-22 20:46:16

The collective noun for nuns is a superfluity.

I looked this up as I met four nuns walking in the Valley of the Rocks yesterday. They were very friendly and were all wearing habits, wimples, walking boots and cagoules. Not something I've seen before!!

NotAGran55 Thu 27-Jan-22 20:56:21

Why are you all posting on this obvious spam thread?!?

Chewbacca Thu 27-Jan-22 21:01:24

If you save your first wee of the day and wash your face with it, it helps to clear up acne, psoriasis and eczema. Let me know if it works.

Chewbacca Thu 27-Jan-22 21:03:50

Why do you say that NotAGran55? confused lizzypopbottle is a long established poster, not a spammer.

lizzypopbottle Thu 27-Jan-22 21:11:54

Chewbacca Thank you! ?

Do not, under any circumstances, eat Polar Bear liver. They store so much vitamin D in it it will kill you within 20 minutes.

lizzypopbottle Thu 27-Jan-22 21:30:55

Gagajo Some people eat their placenta. Some people throw placenta parties. Some people bury their placenta after giving birth and plant a rose bush in the hole.

lizzypopbottle Thu 27-Jan-22 21:32:36

Forgot to say it's called placentophagy.

Nannee49 Thu 27-Jan-22 22:17:39

Further to the benefits of wee you mentioned chewbacca it definitely works on chillblainsgrinthe itching used to drive me nuts in the bad old pre-central heating days of the '60s until I braved trying it out (armed with a tin of talc for freshness afterwards of course)
Brilliant thread lizzypopbottle even if the placenta post made me queasy!

That all depends on WHERE you're holding your nose!

Ali08 Fri 28-Jan-22 00:07:56

Absolutely brilliant thread, lizzypopbottle, even tho one person seems to not have their sense of humour switched on today!
