A pint of lime and soda… How much?

That would last me the whole meal, so it's not that bad, I think.
Soft drinks are always blooming expensive.

I doubt very much if pubs make most of their profit from soft drinks.

If I had asked for lime and soda, I wouldn't be expecting a pint and I've never been given one.

Well that makes me feel old, when I was young a vodka lime and soda was £1.18

I too would have been shocked. I went to a pub last weekend for a meal and was charged £1 for a measure of lime cordial, soda water from the 'gun' and a slice of lime in a half pint glass. I was given a refill free of charge.

Next time ask for tap water - NOT water (which comes in a fancy bottle and costs as much as wine), but tap water (which pubs and restaurants are legally obliged to provide free of charge.

I’ve never had a lime and soda but for a pint of it that doesn’t sound a lot. Not sure what you were expecting or where it was, for instance in London drinks are much more expensive.

Lime and soda is my usual tipple and half a pint is £1.55 in my local.

Was it soda water? From a glass or the pump? We did it for free where I worked a couple of years ago from the pump!

Usually decent bar staff will ask "Do you want a pint or a half?" I think soft drink prices are going up because more people are not having alcohol. So what would have been just the odd drink may be almost every order and they need to make a profit so they are making them equivalent to the cost of a pint of beer.

50% profit on cordial is normal in the licence trade but I’m flabbergasted by the fact they’re charging for gassed water.

I drink lime and soda most times I go out and I find that prices vary considerably. A lot of places no longer have soda on tap but use little bottles which are expensive. Even when the soda is from a tap, I have paid over £2 for a half pint but as I then go on to drink free tap water with my meal, I don’t mind too much. After all, I still use a glass for my tap water, it’s often served in a jug with ice and lemon and everything is cleared away and washed afterwards.

I feel guilty and a cheapskate if I only drink tap water so I always buy one drink, either at the bar before the meal or a coffee afterwards.

I am a very generous tipper though to make up for my low spending on drink as all my children have worked in hospitality when students and I know how important tips were to them. I often tip 20% if the food and service were very good.

I do the odd shift in a British Legion club and we charge 70p for a half pint and £1.30 for a pint of any draft juice. I’m often horrified (on the rare occasion) we socialise anywhere else, I like a pint of Guinness sometimes and in the club it’s £3.35 - the last pub we went to I was charged £5.80. Needless to say we only had the one drink there!

Drinks are very, very expensive here. They say that is why the young ones take drugs- it is cheaper for them. It is a bit of a worry. A glass of wine is around $8 but it is what I would call half a glass. A beer is about $7 or $8. You have to pre-load if you want a few drinks!

Lime and soda is the cheapest drink you can get it’s usually under a pound here for half a pint probably about £1.30 for a pint so yes you were robbed

Sounds ok to me but then I live in London where a glass of wine is north of £8 in a very ordinary restaurant.

And i am shocked that you would pick someone up on anything like that. We don't do that here.
