Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark ,and dry here in brackley this morning .
Today , will be spent watching cycling on TV at lunchtime and mid afternoon in two different locations .
What I have noticed on a tree opposite my flat is signs of buds starting to show .
I will do a small local shop early today as well .
Take Care,
Mick

grandMattie Wed 02-Feb-22 06:16:15

Good morning from a dark, grey E Kent. No rain, very windy.
Hoeing your ear now, Mick? And I too have noticed budding, especially on my new little Magnolia stellata which I put in last year.
The new boiler clock wasn’t working but the engineer came in yesterday to fix it. Result!
Since Saturday, our landline phone was making a horrible crackling sound. It was almost impossible to hear anything. Given that Mr. gM’s go to, is to leave things in the hope they will either go away or fix themselves, on Monday I took it upon myself to get help. I went to the BT website, had a robot check the line, got told that the fault was in the line itself and would be fixed on Thursday. Imagine our surprise, when at lunchtime, a good looking young man turned up to sort our phone line. Poor thing had to climb a post just outside the house to fix it in under an hour. Job done!
An afternoon cream tea sent to CV19 ridden DD and family did the job, cheered them up no end.
Today, laundry, marmalade - no more after today , I promise.
Don’t know what to cook for dinner since DH has confessed that one of the few things he looks forward to is his food. I try to make things interesting and different, with few weekly repetitions. I got a guinea fowl for Sunday roast when shopping yesterday.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Be kind to yourselves everyone . Carpe diem. ?????

Good morning, all, from a still, dry Torbay.

My DGD, aged nine, loves flamingoes and sent me this photo from this week's issue of My Week Junior. When I told her about their significance here, including how it began with grandMattie’s DGD2, Iris, and the Lego, she texted,

“It will be nice knowing I have done something to make people think about the girl.”

Given their current plight (housebound due to Covid), I wanted to share this story.

So, a flamboyance of flamingoes to you all! ????????

grandMattie Wed 02-Feb-22 06:37:14

Thank you, Ash, and thank your GD from us. Curiously, Iris is quite bewildered by this admiration for her and rather embarrassed that she should be our little totem! ❤️

Gagagran Wed 02-Feb-22 06:40:54

Good Morning fellow early birds and all who follow from a 7.2c south coast. The forecast is mild, sunny but windy today. Our snowdrops and crocus are up and showing their pretty faces and the myriad of other bulbs we have are well grown and ready to show theirs quite soon. LOVE spring! sunshine

My sister's appt. was inconclusive yesterday but she has been referred to a cardiologist so that may shed some light on the episode she suffered. Meanwhile, she soldiers on with her usual grit and positivity. Thank you for asking my GN friends!

DH is leading a group of his bike club chums out for a full day in the South Downs today, so I have an empty and am looking forward to catching up with all the things I prefer to do when he is not "supervising". I still can't quite believe that he is back to such a fitness level after the surgeries and serious illness he suffered through from 2020. Feel blessed and very grateful.

Hope the day is a good one for us all.

Beechnut Wed 02-Feb-22 06:48:14

Good Morning everyone from a warm Severnside. I think I woke up when I did because I was too warm.

Some of those flamingoes look like they are looking for someone ?*Ash*.

I might clean the dining room today and I will do some more on my beading project.

On getting dressed yesterday I put on my vest and then thought about what came next and realised I had put on my T-shirt first. I laughed and as I wasn’t going anywhere I left it for the day.

I’m expecting a parcel today and will have a FaceTime with Beechnutella who has already told me they have been pinged.

Will Dollie be a bridesmaid at your son’s wedding Marydoll?

Have a good day all ??

Alizarin Wed 02-Feb-22 06:51:50

Good.morning from me in my Dry Robe with a mug of freshly brewed coffee, on my mild, dark south Cornwall patio. A little light is beginning to reflect on my garden mirrors. The gulls are surprisingly silent. Must visit my allotment today and see if my broad beans have sprouted. Have a good day.

BlueBalou Wed 02-Feb-22 06:56:59

Good morning everyone, I have no idea what the weather is like this morning!
My neck is very painful this morning, no idea why. I have decent pillow(s) so I presume I must have slept awkwardly or something. Drat!
I had a lovely couple of hours with my crafting friends yesterday, there’s 7 of us and a lot of nattering goes on, just what I need. I have been given a couple of recommendations for local decorators so I must get my head together and start planning in more detail what I would like done!
I hope to finish crocheting a blanket today then I won’t have any excuses for not getting on with the yoke of the baby cardigan ?
Hope you all have a good day ?

TopsyIrene06 Wed 02-Feb-22 06:58:14

Good Morning from the Southside of Glasgow where it is still dark but not too cold I think.
I rarely post on here but today I feel bereft having had to say goodbye yesterday to my darling Border Terrier, aged 15 years 9 months. No words to describe how I feel although I know she couldn't continue and many of you will have gone through this. A new way of living now.

Urmstongran Wed 02-Feb-22 07:08:02

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and mild. Still dark here.

We’re off to the M&S Food Hall at White City at noon, picking up my stepfather en route. He enjoys going and we have coffee and cake in the little cafe. Ooh, the train to Liverpool Lime Street has just squealed into the station opposite.

I have book club tonight at a local pub. We will be discussing ‘The Girl with the Louding Voice” which I really enjoyed. It will be lovely to see everybody.

A friend (ex colleague) rang me last night to ask if I was doing anything on a date early March? There’s apparently to be a ‘retirees reunion’ at a local venue of staff from the hospital where we worked. We shared an office and have remained friends ever since - she does make me laugh and we get on really well. However we shall be in Spain in just over 3 weeks and so sadly will miss this get together which I’m sure will be fun! Hey ho. BTW our PCR tests came back on line from our Day 2 test - negative, as expected.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 02-Feb-22 07:16:02

Morning Mick and all

Still dark here in S E Essex, not sure what the weather has in store today.

My cleaning fairies are here this morning to work their magic. I am off to the gym to ease my back into some gentle exercises.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Jaxjacky Wed 02-Feb-22 07:22:26

Good morning all from S Hants, 7deg and dry.
A busy day grandMattie for you and lots achieved, satisfying. Enjoy your empty Gaga, hopefully your sister will get a diagnosis.
I had a drive with a lovely client yesterday, a really good chat, it was a very pleasant hour or so.
Today is the dentist, just a check up, but not a pleasure!
Enjoy your day all, thoughts with those struggling ??.

dragonfly46 Wed 02-Feb-22 07:24:55

Good morning, it’s still dark here in Leicestershire.

Bad night for some reason but had to set the alarm as the decorator is coming bright and early.
Managed to order some lovely new bedroom furniture yesterday and it comes already assembled!

Wishing everyone a good day.

Marydoll Wed 02-Feb-22 07:25:00

Good morning all, from Glasgow, where it's 7°C. 7°C seems to be the magic number, as the thermometer has been stuck there for weeks.

TopsyIrene, its good to hear from you again, but not the circumstances. ? I hope there is some improvement in your health. I was thinking, you can't live that far away from Kalu and I.

Beechunut, Dollie is indeed a bridesmaid, she is very excited. There is a cornucopia of them and two page boys, because DIL didn't want to leave anyone out! ?

A day in for us. DH's car is going into the garage today, but it is being picked up, because I will be unable to follow him to the garage, as I have to stay in and await a long awaited phone call from my GP.
I hope he has no other patients to speak to, I have a very long list of complaints, in both senses of the word..?

Wishing you all a pleasant day and sending healing vibes to all who are struggling.
Nerdle and Wurdle await, I am hooked!

Gingster Wed 02-Feb-22 07:26:31

Good morning all.

Ah TopsyIrene . How sad for you to lose your beloved companion after all those years. Lots of happy memories though! You will get a comforting welcome on here.?.

I had a lovely catch-up with my ‘oldest’ school friend yesterday. She has been very poorly with worrying episodes of passing out and rapid heart . She’s had lots of tests and they aren’t conclusive. Pernicious anaemia may be the cause which is affecting her heart. She is the dearest, kindest soul! Our other friend who started school with us , phoned me from Oz where she is staying with her DD, so I updated her on all our news.

I have a free(Ish) day today. Not sure what I will do. ?

DS1 has been offered a new job , so relief all round . His previous one has moved to Madrid and he turned it down. He’s a real family man and didn’t want to uproot them.

Wishing you all a gentle day. ?

Pittcity Wed 02-Feb-22 07:32:08

Good morning from a mild and damp Colchester. The wind has finally dropped and so cloud and rain is expected. Double figure temperature.
Usual Wednesday morning coffee meetup in town.
DH wants me to make a decision on paint colours for the rest of the upstairs. We have used up the paint we have and need to buy more. I think I'll probably go for more grey and make it a 50 shades house grin
Love to all ? x

Grammaretto Wed 02-Feb-22 07:37:51

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders where it is mild for the season.
2/2/22 seems an auspicious date. I hope it is a good one.

So sorry about your little dog TopsyIrene A great age indeed. I am fond of Border terriers and see a few on my walks.

I'm glad your Dsis is her usual self Gagagran

Matts's cartoon is more apt than ever today Urms sad

The plumber is coming at 8 to fix my leaky boiler and I am going to be online most of the day trying to access a loan from the Scottish Government to pay for a new boiler, insulation, a windmill? solar panels and anything else to ease the pain expense.
I am meeting a cousin for lunch so a welcome break.
Have a good day everyone.

GrandmaSeaDragon Wed 02-Feb-22 07:38:01

Good morning from Rutland where it’s +9 and still very dark. Mid day of winter today, Candlemass, Tim on Classic fm has just said! We had the most beautiful sunset yesterday, pinks and purples for just a few minutes. Let’s hope it means sun today.

I ventured into the garden yesterday and, joy of joy, found three tiny primroses and the first snowdrops in bloom. The wind was so gusty but managed to tackle some of the roses.

TopsyIrene flowers I know it’s so difficult to let a dear companion go but you did the best thing for her.

Off the DD2 and 3DGS in Hertfordshire later. Covid in DGS2 class so fingers crossed, but have to trust in jabs and boosters. Hope the sun will be a little higher in the sky, it’s sometimes difficult driving south.

Wishing you the best day possible.

monk08 Wed 02-Feb-22 07:38:18

Enjoy your Wednesday and may you all find some ?.

Good morning from a bleak looking Yorkshire, apparently we are going to have an unusual 'warm' spell, hmmm !

Yesterday i went to see my inspirational friend in Knaresborough, she is 83 and drives her little car around the streets as if shes stolen it haaaaaaaaaa, she is brilliant with a capital B.

We had lunch, we chatted, we laughed and it was perfect.

Today my youngest GD comes to me, we are making a recipe that Marydoll put on GN. ... Mars Bar Cake, I'm making changes, we will make Mars Bar bun, ive got some unicorn patterned bun cases.

Enjoy your day everyone.
smile

Good morning from East Yorkshire it is 7 degrees here and I am quite warm as I type this in my cosy bed enjoying my cuppa.

Had a lovely catch up at coffee morning with news of a new grandchild on the way for one of the ladies.

Today I am pottering this morning, a hair appointment after lunch and then GS after school.

So sorry on the loss of a devoted companion TopsyIrene ?

Take care everyone.

FannyCornforth Wed 02-Feb-22 07:44:24

Good morning everyone from me in a still rather dark Derby (9 degrees- too warm!)

I thought that I’d pop in here and give you an update on my business.
I had an injection in my spine to free a trapped nerve on Sunday.
It went extremely well!
I was there less than two hours and the procedure was pain free.
The worst part was getting on and off the bed due to my hip! ?

The agonising pain in my lower leg and ankle has now nearly disappeared.
Before, I could hardly stand sometimes, let alone walk.
And I was dependent on massive doses of pregabalin and Tramodol.

Yesterday I even managed to dye my hair it’s trademark colour wink. I can now manage to bend over the bath to rinse it which was previously impossible.

I can now understand where the pain is due to the nerve, and where it is due to my hip. Before I couldn’t see the wood for the trees. It was just a messy mass of pain.

I’ve now got to book an X-ray so that I can get the ball rolling for a hip replacement.

Today a chap from the Council is fitting a handrail to the side of the front door. I’m also going to ask him to carry our 4foot potted Christmas tree outside.
It’s had pride of place in the kitchen since January due to the fact that we can’t move the blooming thing.

Ddog Gracie is off to the beauty salon this lunchtime. It is always a treat to see her looking her beautiful best.

Have a pleasant and peaceful day all.
Love and thoughts to those who are sad, scared or poorly x

Grandmadinosaur Wed 02-Feb-22 07:46:15

Glad that you enjoyed Knaresborough ^ * Serendipity* it’s a favourite place of mine. I’ve been in the coffee shop you shared to peruse the sweet things on offer there. I didn’t know the history of it though. Thank you for sharing.

Marydoll Wed 02-Feb-22 07:49:42

Fanny, that is really good news! I am so pleased for you. Onward and upward! You and your DH have had such a tough time. ?

Chrissielou Wed 02-Feb-22 07:53:56

A beautiful morning with a pink sunrise over the fields here in Oxfordshire. TopsyIrene sending a big hig to you, our pets are part of our family aren't they, our dog certainly is and so very much loved.
Booked a short break in Cornwall for early April, looking forward to that, its so long since we've been anywhere!
A good Wednesday to you all.
