I am curious about people's behaviour.

I wonder how women of all ages can actually walk around shops in pyjamas and rollers. But some how they manage to bother putting their false eyelashes on.
Is there some thing that you are curious about when observing other people?

MissAdventure Tue 08-Feb-22 18:33:42

I saw an absolutely stunning young woman on the bus in her rollers a while back.
She had a Hilda Ogden scarf around them, and glossy red lips, and long sweeping false eyelashes. smile

Why yuk Most people are clean, their beds are clean and I assume their Pyjamas are clean.
You might be a bit sniffy about the look, but it hardly warrens a yuk

MissAdventure Tue 08-Feb-22 18:43:57

It makes you wonder at the state of some people's own pyjamas.

Elizabeth27 Tue 08-Feb-22 18:47:19

I assume that people out in pyjamas do not care what others think, rightly so.

I am more curious as to why people are indoors not planning on seeing anyone but have full makeup and are dressed as if going somewhere special. I know it is none of my business, I am not judging, just curious.

I think that is what is called 'a lewk' MA. The end, rather than the means.

MissAdventure Tue 08-Feb-22 18:52:24

Oh, 'a lewk'.
That's a new one on me.
Yes, it was all colour coordinated, and she had dungarees on.
She looked like a filmstar.

rafichagran Tue 08-Feb-22 18:52:27

It's a personal thing, but I do not like seeing people out in pyjamas with slippers on.
I dont judge them
just would not do it myself.

MiniMoon Tue 08-Feb-22 18:55:04

I'm curious too, but not about people out in their pyjamas.
I wonder why somebody thinks that it is okay to walk passed the wall beside our house and help themselves to two very decorative house leeks.
My husband and I noticed they were missing on our way back from a walk this afternoon.
I wouldn't dream of taking someone else's plants.

MissAdventure Tue 08-Feb-22 18:57:20

I often wonder why people get almost obsessed with having 'their' parking space outside their home.
It must be some primeval instinct that kicks in.

Gwyneth Tue 08-Feb-22 19:04:59

I must admit I‘ve never seen a man out in his pyjamas.

MissAdventure Tue 08-Feb-22 19:16:37

It's shorts, with men.
Whatever the weather - shorts.

AreWeThereYet Tue 08-Feb-22 19:23:37

I find people watching fascinating.

Me too, MissAdventure. It's taught me that there's no such thing as 'ordinary' people. Everyone is so different.

Mamardoit Tue 08-Feb-22 19:40:02

I would never go out in pjs, but in my home I'll wear what I want. I answer the door in my dressing gown, hang washing out in the summer, or water the greenhouse plants before it get too hot. I don't have a hairdresser at home but I can't see why having hair cut in pjs is a problem.

I do love to see babies and little children in hotel dining rooms still in their pjs. Very sensible IMO to wash and dress them once they have eaten.

Peartree Tue 08-Feb-22 19:46:37

Well I went shopping this morning and to be honest I never noticed what anyone was wearing as long as they kept their distance.

HowVeryDareYou Tue 08-Feb-22 19:47:58

I go to Aqua Aerobics a couple of times a week, and I have a shower before I leave the house. I also put on mascara, and my eyebrows (I have to pencil them on these days) and I straighten my hair.

Jane43 Tue 08-Feb-22 19:49:45

In the early sixties lots of girls used to keep their rollers in all day on a Saturday and take them out and style their hair before they went out in the evening. If they went shopping in the daytime they would put a headscarf over them. I could never bring myself to do it though.

Such distaste for nightwear.
Some people must go to bed in an evening gown and kitten heels.

Don't be ridiculous. Silk negligee and mink trimmed ballet shoes.

Millie22 Tue 08-Feb-22 21:18:08

They're probably not pj's but lounge wear.

nanna8 Tue 08-Feb-22 23:02:37

I don’t think I have ever seen anyone out in their PJs except for kids under 5. I think people would assume they were ill or had Covid if they did.

What on earth makes you think everyone is so clean? The ones in pyjamas are most likely the one who change their sheets monthly and haven't showered recently. If they were decent people they would be up and dressed. I can't begin to imagine what the folk of the 1950s would think of anyone going out in their nightwear! Everyone dressed so properly and tidily then, men wore suits and ladies dresses or jackets & skirts with stockings. They made the effort to look presentable even if they had no money.

It’s to show that you are going out somewhere really special later that evening.

It’s a sort of WAG thing.

It started in the North East about 10 years ago.

(This is the definitive answer btw smile)

MissAdventure Wed 09-Feb-22 06:58:47

Ah, I see.
Well, she looked wonderful- she could have gone out as she was. smile

FannyCornforth Wed 09-Feb-22 07:01:38

Yes, MissA there’s something quite joyous about making such a big deal of a night out and taking enjoyment in your own appearance.
I remember those days!
