Footballer kicking cat

Although I haven’t viewed the video as I don’t wish to see a cat being kicked across the room, I’m amazed that this multi millionaire footballer is still playing for his London club.

Compare this to the punishment meted out to the teacher that kick

RSPCA supporters please note and take action is this proves to be true.

Cats are weird creatures, I've always had cats, they will stay in an abusive household just because its a place where they get food and shelter - and possibly affection and petting from other family members. You'd think the animal would leave, but it'll soon be 'sucking up' to him, trying to gain his affection - poor little thing!
All the same, it does need re-homing (far away) and he should be given a court order denying his right to own animals for life!
I, and most other people, would prefer he went to prison where he'd get an understanding of kicking from other inmates - but that just ain't gonna happen - is it? However much we hope it will!

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 10-Feb-22 10:56:33

I’m not sure what action you expect RSPCA supporters to take annsixty. Unless he voluntarily signs them over the RSPCA can only keep them if a court orders that they be confiscated. I hope this ‘awareness course’ isn’t an alternative to prosecution but it sounds like the speeding equivalent. That would not be a satisfactory way to deal with this abominable creature.

He should be "encouraged" to take up the cage fighters offer.

Kate1949 Thu 10-Feb-22 10:59:24

I don't think he will be unemployable as a footballer. Maybe at the moment but not in the long term.
My husband is very into football and he said re the footballer accused of assaulting his girlfriend 'He's young, he's a brilliant footballer. If convicted, he'll be back at some point. It's all about the money'. I fear he may be right.

On Jeremy Vine just now it said that the French animal protection are calling for him to be sent back to France to be prosecuted. Well done the French!!

Iam64 Thu 10-Feb-22 11:03:59

I may be wrong but I read the animal awareness course was alongside him being fined two weeks wages, so something the club came up with.
If the vet exam finds old injuries I can’t see the cats being returned. People abuse animals (and children) with the focus all too often on rehab v punishment.
And - I’m in the pro alternatives to custody gang

Doodledog Thu 10-Feb-22 11:07:22

Here's a happier cat/football story. I can't find the video now, but the player waved at the cat as it was taken off to the vet grin.

I feel sorry for the children in the family. They have witnessed their father & uncle being cruel to their pet cats at least this once, filming it and laughing at it. They are probably either traumatise or desensitised, either way they’ll be affected by this. They may well face a backlash from other children at school, etc., and to top it all they have now lost their pet cats.

I won’t watch the video, but perhaps the child holding the cat when it was slapped was trying to comfort or protect it - I don’t know, but what a lesson about human nature!

Very very sad.

I’m afraid I find it totally ludicrous that someone has to go on a course to learn how to not abuse animals..

Yes absolutely the other side of the coin

Auntieflo Thu 10-Feb-22 13:33:26

We were appalled at the footballer, and his brother's behaviour.
What I don't understand is the TV channels, showing the video repeatedly.

Yes, it's very poor. The BBC at least refused to show it and said so.

Shinamae Thu 10-Feb-22 21:29:02

This….

MissAdventure Thu 10-Feb-22 22:21:15

His brother has been suspended by dagenham for his part in the abuse.

lavendermine Thu 10-Feb-22 22:34:17

Excellent news re that imbecile.
Now the other one needs to go back to France to face the music there. But of course we have Moyes in charge (he needs to be out of the door too)
France take a very dim view of animal cruelty.

Shinamae Thu 10-Feb-22 22:41:10

Well if Miss Bardot gets her way….

Oldwoman70 Fri 11-Feb-22 08:14:40

A despicable coward but does anyone actually believe either of them will go to prison? The maximum punishment in UK and France is imprisonment but how often does that happen? IF he is prosecuted he will receive a fine, which will have no affect on his finances, his club may sideline him for a few weeks but then he will be back playing. I also fear the cats will be returned to him - and he will ensure any future abuse is not filmed

MissAdventure Fri 11-Feb-22 08:32:40

I think you're right on all counts.

It looks as though public outcry is waning a bit but I do hope that he does get a prison sentence.Brigitte Bardot is a very ardent animal rights woman..

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 11-Feb-22 08:34:45

I agree Oldwoman. Imprisonment is very unlikely and even the maximum fine will be meaningless to him. It’s possible that the cats could be confiscated and he could be banned from keeping animals for a set period. I would like to see some more sponsors walk away from him and his brother and from their clubs. That would drastically reduce their value as footballers and they and Moyes might then be sacked.

MissAdventure Fri 11-Feb-22 08:41:35

I've been reading that some of the other westham players are outraged to realise that pillock-features has been earning more than them and are now asking for a pay rise.
All we can hope is that all this makes him very uncomfortable and unsettled.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 11-Feb-22 08:42:42

Excellent!

Oldwoman70 Fri 11-Feb-22 09:28:13

So his fellow players are "outraged" because he is being paid more than them - not that he kicked and abused an animal!

tickingbird Fri 11-Feb-22 09:55:41

One player I saw being interviewed was trying to turn it into a race issue ie the outrage is more to do with him being black than his cruelty to the cat. Hmm……the teacher that kicked the horse lost her job and had to go into hiding after receiving death threats. She’s white.
