my hubby does not have a romantic bone in his body, he booked his dentist appointment (6 mths ago) for last night (valentines evening) he was more upset about not going to his regular Mon evening train club meeting

My father always sent me some lovely flowers at Christmas - and still does even though he died 15 years ago. DD orders and send them in his name.

We exchange cards, I have set the table, candles, hearts, and nice table cloth. Will cook a 3 course steak meal, light the candles and enjoy the evening.

Don't think I've done V Day since I was about 18. I got flowers last week just because Mr A saw them and thought I would like them.

But then we don't do anniversaries either, in fact hardly even Christmas or birthdays (for each other). Wouldn't trade him for the world.

Just been reduced to tears. We have never done much for Valentine’s Day, although married 57 years. DH known I have been having a difficult time this last few months with depression. A card came for me today . Where he got it from I have no idea but it is just beautiful.

As others have mentioned, it’s a superstition thing, blood and bandages. My DH knows I don’t like red and white flowers, but forgot to mention to florist. I know it’s superstition but can’t help it!

I find all these “days” over commercialised and just a marketing exercise and I really dislike sentimental verses. Doesn’t mean I don’t value love and friendships though as much as anyone else.

We’ve been married 5 years (together for 7). Every year I’ve received my DH’s hand made card and a kiss ?. I do the same.

Mr Apple and I gave each other Valentine's cards this morning and were amazed to see that they were the very same design! Each had a heart made of coloured butterflies, with a few flying out from them - they were different, but the design idea was identical.

I got engaged to my ex husband on Valentines Day.
When we went to tell my parents, he arrived , clutching a single red rose for me and I suggested that each year he added another but he could stop at 12!
2 years later we were living in Australia and my then husband was at work on Valentines day. Had left me a card and chocolates but he kept phoning throughout the day (before mobile phones) which was unusual.
Flowers had arrived for my sister in law and mother in law (that we lived with) nothing for me! Husband was frantic.
About 6pm a florist arrived with a posy including 3 red roses - but they weren't red, they were dark pink! The florist had run out of red roses!
I might as well say that the roses I received each year stopped at 6 and the last ones I had weren't even red as our marriage broke up!
Since then, the only flowers I have had at any time, have been from my workplace after my parents died or from my son for Mother's Day !

Well i seem to be the odd 1 out here. I do not follow what society tells me to and neither does my husband, to me it is a money making racket.

I tell my husband i love him when I want to.

All that will cone across as me being a hard nosed cow, far, far from it, I/we just dont do V day.

My DH used to buy me flowers regularly for no other reason that he was thinking of me. We didn't bother with Valentine's much as felt it was a money making ploy by shops and he said he loved me all year not just that day. Sadly no flowers from him for many years now.

My DH usually comes in bearing daffodils , picked in our Lane!!!This year however, he is having a hip replaced, so a text message has had to do!!

My husband usually gets me a bottle rose Cava my favourite and flowers a few days before. He refuses to pay triple the price on Valentine’s Day I don’t blame him it’s the same on Mother’s Day rip off prices.
