Under my sink

We have an alarm under the sink which bleeps if water starts to collect there. That way you can catch it before everything gets too wet.

It is very annoying and always goes off at the most inconvenient times of course.

?

Nothing too terrible, thankfully.
It's all top show, with awful pipes and gaps at the back.
I was half expecting a waterlogged mouse to float out.

Well done for sorting it out.
What I thought the thread was going to be about what was stashed under the sink, and what you find when you eventually get down and pull everything out!

Congrats and glad it's resolved! Last week my dripping tap was finally sorted out. Plumbing problems are a pain.

Well done you ? I need to pluck up the courage to learn how to use a drill!!! I have shelves needed in my new shed but scared of even turning it on!!!

fairfraise Mon 14-Feb-22 19:58:13

Glad it's sorted!

MissAdventure Mon 14-Feb-22 19:31:44

Thank you.
Me too.

I didnt have the confidence to have a go, but knew I would have to at some point.

tanith Mon 14-Feb-22 19:21:24

Glad you fixed it.

MissAdventure Mon 14-Feb-22 19:15:39

Now just a load of soggy stuff to sort through.
I swear it's like a double garage behind the unit doors!

Farmor15 Mon 14-Feb-22 19:05:59

Great work MissA! It's very satisfying fixing something yourself.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 14-Feb-22 19:03:52

Well done MissA

MissAdventure Mon 14-Feb-22 19:01:44

All done!!! grin
It's in, thank you fairfraise.
I got a bit more robust with it, pulled it apart and had a look.
Cleaned it up, and found there was a blue squashy rubber washer that had moved out of place a bit.
Straightened that up, heaved the pipe upwards, and managed to tighten it all up and tighten the screw.
Not sure it will last long - it all looks a bit rickety under there.

Thanks all.

Ours is about to go, we are emptying the washing up bowl down the toilet or drain outside , till DH gets some spares to repair it.

tanith Mon 14-Feb-22 18:34:18

For starters put a bucket under it while you figure out the problem. This happened to me just last week it flooded the kitchen floor. I realised that the pipe to the trap had become loose for reasons unknown the fitting that screws into it had unscrewed itself. After lots of attempts I managed to fit the pipes back together and rescrew the fitting back together it’s no longer leaking.
If you can’t figure out the problem you made need a plumber.

MissAdventure Mon 14-Feb-22 18:33:17

Right, thank you.
Am off to give that a go. smile

fairfraise Mon 14-Feb-22 18:33:04

If you can get on your knees. Should have checked preview.

fairfraise Mon 14-Feb-22 18:32:13

Try applying some oil, WD40 or cooking oil will do. If you can on your knees try gently pushing the two together and they should fit. You may need to clean round the inner edge of both with old toothbrush. Good luck!

Esspee Mon 14-Feb-22 18:32:01

Phone for a plumber?

MissAdventure Mon 14-Feb-22 18:25:48

Has been leaking, badly.
The culprit is the pipe that comes down from the plug hole, which has come out of the waste pipe (?)

I just can't get it back in there, and yet that is where it should be.

It seems too big to fit.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on, or how I can make it fit again?

It has ruined the shelf and cabinet - all blown and waterlogged.
