I am looking for some warm comfortable big knickers. No stretch, no lace and soft to the touch. That made me think of Pollards. I loved that store.

So many bargains in the big drums and the array of items in the drawers behinds the counter staff was huge.

We had a wonderful shop very similar to Pollards, but now that too has gone.

I thought Country Casuals disappeared years ago.

It definitely did in our town and others nearby along with the makes Vyella, Austin Read and Alexon all were my go-to for work and casual clothes especially when they were discounted in the Designer centres.

My mother used to be the Clothes Buyer for the children’s wear and baby section of Johnson and Clarke in Staines. “Are you bring Served?” Was one of her favourite programmes. I remember wearing hot pants too!

We used to have a shop here where you took in your own containers and filled them with coffee, cereal, muesli, washing powder or whatever.
I would love another of those.

A few come to mind for me, but there was a shop in chadwell Heath Romford , called Whites, which looked like something from the old ‘Are you being served ‘? Series. All wooden panelling etc and the pull out drawers behind the counter. I was rarely bought anything new as I was the youngest of 5 and my parents very short of money, but I once was bought some bright pink hotpants, when I was about 9, ( shorts with a bib and straps over the shoulders.) God I loved those !
And then when I was about 16 the Fame series came out they started selling some brightly coloured Lycra leotards and leg warners. I thought I was the dogs wotsits in those ! ?
