If your collections are on friday or Saturday an appeal to put your bins out as late as possible and bring the bins as soon after collection.
Its awful to those low flying bins on the roads when your driving around the areas.
Winds are forecast to be approx 100mph in some parts of the country.Keep safe every one.

DD2 leaves for work before bin men have come. She isn't back till after 6pm and her house is on a pedestrian lane down a vennel. She can't take it in till DGS2 is in bed as it's such a rush to get him in, fed and bathed and bed in under an hour. Fortunately some elderly neighbours kindly wheel the bins to peoples back gates so very helpful

All our bins are collected weekly on Fridays apart from garden waste which is fortnightly We have been told that the recycling bins for paper and glass/plastics will be collected on Saturday to save bins flying around our streets tomorrow.

Just saw on good old Facebook that our Cornwall council will not be collecting the refuse or recycling tomorrow Friday due to the bad weather tomorrow.

We had a fly tipping incident in our lane last night - happens regularly, unfortunately . It’s now been cleared by our local authority, but will no doubt happen again. ?

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been out collecting up flying litter from neighbours bags and boxes that were left with unsecured lids and open bags. Even my own which I wedged understand a shrub have shifted a bit. Just wish they’d hurry up and empty them so we can put them away.
We’re supposed to be merging with Stratford upon Avon for various services soon and when that happens we’ll just have one wheelie bin for everything except garden and food waste. I wasnt very keen on that idea but after todays mess it can only be an improvement.

Somerset Waste cancelled today's collections and closed recycling centres.

Our bin collection was at 5.30 this morning but I didn't put them out because they're safer sitting in the: back garden half full than empty blowing around the street. I'll put them or next week.

Bristol waste collection for Friday postponed by the council until Monday and next week's collections will be one day later that normal.

I am amazed at how many of you have glass collections. My L.A. refuses to do so on the ground of Health and Safety. Have to collect and then take either to a bottles bank or the local recycling centre. Large bins for paper and cardboard, tins and recyclable plastic, garden and food waste and a smaller bin for landfill but no glass. Do hope those with bins due to be emptied manage to keep them upright. Perhaps Councils will reschedule, after all will be pretty hazardous for workers to be out on roads.

Gotta be careful with our bin men…. Monday they turned up at 6.45 am! Another week they’ll turn up at 10…. And the next 2pm. Sneaky. You gotta be on your toes around here.

I daren't put my food recycling bin out the night before because I have had it ransacked by a creature (presumably a fox, I know there is at least one around here) on several occasions in the past.

Being a single household I dont put my bins out until they are completely full (cardboard/glass/metal). I hate the things because they are heavy and clumsy and difficult to manage even when empty. My nephew visits once or twice a week and always takes away a black bag full of mixed rubbish as they have communcal recycling facilities by him. My neighbours must wonder why I seldom put any bins out - not that its any of their business.

I can't complain because our binmen are wonderful.
We've had a few large items ending up in our front garden from all the winds and they've taken them when they collect at the back.
It's not a job I would want to do, even if I was young and fit.

The windy weather will continue into Monday.
We are lucky all recycling items are collected including food waste, not very much, as the little caddy is sufficent for us.
What we have been doing is taking our recycling items to the local super market when we go shoping and dispose of the items that way(except the food waste). What we have done in the past with the food waste(if its not collected) is put the caddy in the boot of the car,and hope we find a recycling lorry on our travels so we can get rid of the food waste.
