If your up before 06:00am on Monday morning the News reader always reminds of Elanor Bron from said above film.
Does any one else think so?

infoman Mon 21-Feb-22 05:12:31

Sorry the film I am referring is Help.

Peartree Mon 21-Feb-22 06:14:12

I got my niece to get me the DVD of Help for Christmas. It reminds me of when I was young and went to see it about 4 times in one week. I must watch it again. I was in love with George but had a soft spot for Ringo.

Eleanor Bron reads lots of audiobooks these days.
My dad has a crush on her in the 60s.
Can you find out what the newsreader’s name is infoman?

Eleanor Bron plays Carol Tregorran in The Archers but hasn’t uttered a word for years. ?

FannyCornforth Mon 21-Feb-22 10:22:04

Well I didn’t know that!
Tamsin Greig used to be in The Archers too, and Jasper Carrot’s daughter

As a ternager, I never liked Eleanor Bron because she was in that film with The Beatles. It should have been ME.

Apropos of nothing at all, I had a holiday job as a cinema usherette in the 1960s and saw Help at least 12 times in a week. And Mary Poppins 20+ Times. ?

It was Patti Boyd I was jealous of. She somehow had a part in Hard Day's Night as a schoolgirl and sat on the train with them while they sang songs. I could have done that just as well! I was a schoolgirl with long hair, so why couldn't they have given that part to me? ?

I’ve always been a bit jealous of Patti Boyd.
Imagine knowing that you had inspired a song as phenomenal as Layla.
As passionate as that song is, though, I’ve since read that Clapton is something of a bore and a wet lettuce.

Patti Boyd also had George's Something written about her before Eric Clapton's Layla, then the two of them went to war with each other with their guitars, allegedly! Eric won but didn't do Patti a lot of good, lead her a dog's life. Read her biography a few years ago.

FannyCornforth Wed 23-Feb-22 08:38:56

Fancy choosing Eric over George! confused

Chestnut Wed 23-Feb-22 08:42:09

I was also jealous of the girl in Help who Paul used as a guitar while they sang on the beach. He could have used meeee as a guitar! In fact I was jealous of all those girls frolicking with them on the beach. What innocent days.

TerriBull Wed 23-Feb-22 08:46:50

Yes! Indeed George for me toogrinNot that I was ever a consideration Strangly!

I read Pattie's book too, felt so sorry for her, she longed for children and couldn't have them, and both George and Eric C cheated on her.

George was my favourite too. I always feel emotional when I see footage of the Beatles performing - lost youth and all that. By the way, who is the 6am newsreader that resembles Bron? A quick google didn’t help,

Kate1949 Sat 26-Feb-22 15:40:22

Chestnut I was SO jealous of Patti. To think that George chose a blonde, leggy model instead of a girl from the back streets of Birmingham is beyond me. grin He chatted to me and a small group of fans once. I should have asked him to explain his actions.
I thought I was in love with him. He (and the other Beatles) were a big part of my life. My family refer to him as 'your George'.

Kate1949 Sat 26-Feb-22 15:43:15

He would have been 79 yesterday

Grandmashe43 Sat 26-Feb-22 15:46:43

Kate1949, I’m so sorry but Darling George was definitely mine.
I even called my beautiful Cavalier, George Harrison obe. sadly both in Heaven, but both so loved.

Kate1949 Sat 26-Feb-22 15:49:56

I think there are a few who would like to claim him Grandmashe. I will continue to think of him as mine!

Grandmashe43 Sat 26-Feb-22 15:52:47

Arr isn’t it lovely to have such lovely memories,we were so blessed to be around at that time.

Kate1949 Sat 26-Feb-22 16:20:11

Yes we were.

Paul once said he was proud that the Beatles always sang about love. And when you see them interviewed they were always funny and chirpy, never nasty or sullen. Occasionally a bit spiky when asked silly questions (John really) but they gave interesting answers, were polite and never used bad language. Fast forward 30 years and along comes Oasis, supposedly Beatles followers. If you've ever heard Liam interviewed, well he was the exact opposite, sullen, inarticulate, and every other word was the F word. It was a different world by then. I'm so glad I was part of the 1960s.

Kate1949 Mon 28-Feb-22 09:54:51

Me too Chestnut.

Kate1949 Mon 28-Feb-22 09:57:42

I remember reading that George Martin said that he found The Beatles enchanting and that when they left the studio he missed them.
