The Beatles' rooftop concert was originally to be shown in cinemas as part of Peter Jackson's 'Get Back' movie. I was so excited. Then heard he had too much footage and it would be shown on TV on Disney+ as a three part series. I was gutted! Was looking forward to seeing it on the big screen with cinema sound. Well I managed to get an Amazon Firestick which had Disney+ and my daughter added me as a user on her account. And I saw it, hooray! Not as good as the cinema but better than nothing.
I have to say, the rooftop concert was AMAZING. It was filmed in real time with several cameras, on the roof, on other roofs, in the street and even in the Apple reception area (perfect for capturing the Police waiting downstairs to get on the roof ha ha). It is more than just a concert, it's an experience. Try and watch if you can. Make sure you have headphones if possible for the best sound.
Don't forget, the rooftop concert was the very last time they ever played together. They were nervous because they hadn't performed for some years, having given up live performances in favour of the studio. But when they started playing you could see this was the mature Beatles, not the pop group they were at the beginning.
The only thing that let it down was that they didn't have a lot of new songs at the time. They performed the same songs twice, the idea being to get the best take. This is not really a problem though, because there was plenty of footage talking to people down in the street and following the Police, so it never became boring.
