What is your current and past favourite?

I was really into Fry's Turkish delight once
Crunchies once as a child
Duncan's Walnut whips way back when
Those Lindt balls more recently
Now it's Aldi's milk chocolate hazelnut bars but they are very big, makes for being a total piglet.
Are you going off sweet things as you get older? Sadly, I still love them as much as I always did.

I think that my all time favourite is a Star Bar.
I’m not sure if they do them anymore.
I used to really like Whispers. In fact I remember the first time I had a whisper. It must have been around 1984 on holiday in Falmouth with my mom and dad.
My mom and I had one each, and we were blown away by this new chocolate sensation!

I don’t really have a sweet tooth, though.
I’m more of a crisp person; not proper crisps but things like Snaps, Quavers, Hula Hoops and the like.

In fact, I might start a crisp-based sister thread to yours nanna8! smile

Morning nanna8

I’m not going off sweets but have developed a taste for those I didn’t appreciate before.
Such as marshmallows, coconut ice, nougat, fruity chewy sweets.
Not so mad on chocolate nowadays unless it’s special. I like milky bars and Ferraro Roche especially the coconut ones.

Oooh yes Wotsits, tomato Snaps, pickled onion Monstermunch
Those little packs of Scampi n Chips they usually sell in pubs

FannyCornforth Wed 23-Feb-22 06:03:28

Scampi Fries!
And - Cheese Moments!
Oh how I loved them!

DH’s sister had a pub, and whenever he went there without me, he would bring me back several packets of Cheese Moments!

I don’t like sweet things, haven’t done for many years, but as a child it was crunchie bars, Caramac, gosh that was rich, proper fruit gums with the different shapes and flying saucers.

BigBertha1 Wed 23-Feb-22 06:39:56

Flake then and Green and Black's Almond now.

Beechnut Wed 23-Feb-22 06:41:25

Lindt chocolate is my favourite these days and in the past it was Cadbury’s hazelnut.

BlueBelle Wed 23-Feb-22 06:41:28

I m one of these weird people who don’t like chocolate
Pear drops my childhood favourite and at Christmas
new berry fruits
and I m of an era that only had plain crisps and that’s what I still like best buy oven cooked now

Katyj Wed 23-Feb-22 06:49:25

I love the yogurt Ritter bars but haven’t seen that particular one for ages, please let me know if you see it anywhere. Also Turkish delight and Lindt.

FannyCornforth Wed 23-Feb-22 06:50:25

My Nan was a teacher and she always got new berry fruits from the kids for Christmas.
As a child I was usually the beneficiary of these, along with boxes of Matchmakers and M&S Magnolia Toiletries smile

kittylester Wed 23-Feb-22 06:51:34

Carapace then.
Cadbury's wholenut- never fruit and nut.

Flake from the fridge - anytime.

kittylester Wed 23-Feb-22 06:57:23

My flipping phone - caramac!!

Grannynannywanny Wed 23-Feb-22 07:03:08

Cadbury milk chocolate caramel bar is my favourite sweet treat. I used to love crème eggs but find them sickeningly sweet now. But a galaxy egg with gooey caramel inside is yummy?

Ashcombe Wed 23-Feb-22 07:03:31

Another lover of Caramac here and I still like Cadbury's flake, especially in an ice cream cone! ? ??

TillyTrotter Wed 23-Feb-22 07:25:07

DH is mad on Caramac too. There is a new Cadbury’s Caramilk , but he says ‘it’s not the same’.
My favourite used to be Skippy bars and now I’m partial to a bag of Butterkist Crunchy toffee popcorn when I settle down to watch a good drama or film on TV.

Curlywhirly Wed 23-Feb-22 07:49:36

Aldi's dark chocolate hazelnut bars - huge block, but it lasts me ages.

Sara1954 Wed 23-Feb-22 07:58:28

Not quite such a sweet tooth as I used to have, but I popped into the garage yesterday and grabbed a Boost because I was starving, never had one before. It was really good I will probably have to have another one.
For me though, it has to be Cadburys chocolate, whole nut preferably.

Maggiemaybe Wed 23-Feb-22 08:02:45

Then as now, anything with marzipan in, but particularly the Niederegger flavoured ones. And I don’t like the Cadburys creme eggs half as much as I used to, but a 5 pack still managed to fall into my trolley yesterday.

Sarnia Wed 23-Feb-22 08:08:21

I was 6 when sweet rationing ended but I have made up for it since. My favourite chocolate was the 5 boys bar made by Fry's. Now I prefer the good old-fashioned Dairy Milk. My Mum enjoyed a bar of Cadbury's sliced nut when she was alive but I don't see that anymore.

nanna8 Wed 23-Feb-22 08:12:45

Ohh, I might just have to go and get some choc after reading these. Not that I am addicted or anything…..

Hetty58 Wed 23-Feb-22 08:16:38

We'd always have a big box of marzipan fruits - not to be eaten until Christmas day. I'd be obsessed with them - looking through that cellophane window, checking and waiting for them. To hell with all the preparations, treats and presents, I just yearned to get my little hands in there!

AGAA4 Wed 23-Feb-22 08:40:23

My favourite is Lindt dark chocolate with hazelnuts.

I used to like double deckers but too sweet for me now.

Chestnut Wed 23-Feb-22 08:53:33

We are all Cadbury children. Three generations of chocoholics in my family all raised on Cadbury. So a bar of Cadbury is still my favourite, although my latest craze are Whispas.

TerriBull Wed 23-Feb-22 08:53:57

Anything by Cadburys although somewhat ruined since Kraft got their hands on it. Not as bad as American chocolate when I first tasted a Hershey bar over there it was a definite eergh! moment shock None of the posh high cocoa content either for me, I like my chocolate unacceptably bog standard.
