Welsh Flag

Michael Portillo is doing a program at 6:30 on BBC2 every night this week, travelling through South Wales. It's fantastic. I've never been to Wales but the bit last night with Paul Robeson and the male voice choir was wonderful. South Wales is now on my bucket list!

I have a Welsh maiden name from my grandfather.

My paternal grandfather was Welsh but died before I was born- do I count as being a bit Welsh? I do enjoy the national anthem when sung at the Rugby - very moving. DH is English through and through so gets cross when Wales wins but not as bad as if its France.

And one of the best National Anthems. Last week’s rugby was a treat. The French, Italian and Welsh anthems all in one weekend. I actually think the Italian is the very best!

Love that flag, it’s ridiculous because I’ve never lived there but it always feels emotional like I’m home when I drive across the Severn into Wales to visit my sister. My mum was born in the Rhondda Valley little village called Treherbert.

I love that flag but my only Welshness was my great great grandma on my mother’s side who was from Pentrefelin in Denbighshire. When I was at primary school we used to sing a lot of Welsh songs because the singing teacher was Welsh. Lovely, lovely songs they are,too.
