Good morning from a clear, chilly, dawning E Kent, graced with apricot skies.
I’ve taken the mantle in Mick’s absence in York this morning.

BlueBalou Sat 26-Feb-22 06:29:46

Good morning grandMattie, there’s a beautiful crescent moon low in the sky and frost on the cars. I’m hoping it will be a lovely sunny day as I have more gardening to do (I have barely started!)
DDog will have a walk first thing then gardening with clearing ironing later.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend x

grandMattie Sat 26-Feb-22 06:33:39

I’m attaching a picture of Iris taken yesterday. She’s picked up well, was playing with her Encanto Lego. She managed a wheelchair to the cafe to see her big sis, not allowed on the ward. All being well, she will be discharged today or tomorrow at the latest.
DH has been given an appointment for a sigmoidoscopy next Saturday; he has also at last spoken to someone about analgesia, after the Tramadol debacle, and is on a different regime. I had said exactly the same but there are none so deaf as who won’t hear!
I made sone “spotty” bread - hot + bun dough cooked all in one. I also made a hot water bottle cover last night.
Visiting my old friend in the nursing home today, England vs Wales game today…
I hope today brings nothing but kindness and peace to you all. Carpe diem. ????❤️?☀️

Morning All from a chilly, calm corner of Somerset.

Thank you for opening up grandmattie. Iris looks very industrious, good to hear she is progressing. Your husband also seems to be progressing, selective hearing alive and well here too.

A good if tiring day yesterday. Mr C appreciated the good wishes. There were early (too early!) morning birthday wishes from the travelling son. Breakfast was excellent. Wells was it’s usual peaceful self, we spent a long while in the Bishops Palace garden. Our granddaughters and their Mum visited early evening and helped to reduce the cake mountain. Littlest was persuaded to make a video call while his cousins were here, much hilarity. Today will be much less active!

Special thoughts for all with worries of any kind, hope Saturday is gentle with us all.

Beechnut Sat 26-Feb-22 06:56:12

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Frost on the cars here too but not the pretty pattern frost.

I’m going to tidy my kitchen food cupboards today and see exactly what’s lurking. I don’t do it as much these days but I have a habit of buying stuff and then forgetting what I was going to make with it.

I looked at people yesterday while food shopping and there was still a lot of mask wearing.

Have a good day all ??

Ashcombe Sat 26-Feb-22 07:02:41

Good morning, grandMattie & Co. Thanks for jumping into the breach and how lovely to see a photo of Iris. I hope her recovery continues well and good luck to your DH, too, for next Saturday.

Yesterday, I enjoyed a lovely few hours with my DS and DGS3, aged five, having lunch in The Buccaneer Inn and then football in the park near my flat. They are now safely home in Staffs.

Two of us are due to meet a tree surgeon at the Little Theatre this morning so that we can discuss what needs doing to maintain the safety of the remaining trees around our car park, following one coming down in last week's storm.

Have a good weekend with more sunshine than showers! ?????

Pantglas2 Sat 26-Feb-22 07:06:54

Good morning grandMattie and thanks for opening up with that lovely picture of young Iris ? marvellous recovery to be going home soon!

Sorting the conservatory out now that Mr PG has retiled it to match the kitchen is today’s bizziness, all in good time for the ???????? of course... ??

Buenviajes to Urms going back to her beach ? sweeping duties - I shan’t be there to relieve her until the end of April so a long shift for our lovely lazy gran ?

Stay safe and well everyone- such worrying news at the moment x

Good morning from Derbyshire. It's chilly now but a bright sunny day is forecast.

Our two DGS are here after a sleepover last night. It seems strange to hear their newly acquired Birmingham accents since they moved there six months ago! No doubt they'll lose them again when they move back here next month. We're going on a nature trail with them today at the local park abut first the eldest wants to watch the juniors playing football on the playing field in our village. Maybe he'll be joining them soon, he loves football and is very good at it, but is steered more towards rugby, which is a sport his dad plays. I'm surprised there haven't been any breakfast requests yet, but the tv is on so they are distracted! I think DH will crack first!

Wishing everyone a good Saturday. It's nice to hear Iris is doing well.

Good Morning grandMattie and everyone from a quiet frosty Hull it’s going to be a beautiful weekend here.
Lovely to see Iris after her op enjoying her Lego and your DS and GS Ashcombe he’s such a bonny little lad.
Our DGS came for the day yesterday he’s so lovely and I was pleased when DH took him swimming so I could have a granny nap after my disturbed night.
Today we have friends visiting from County Durham and staying over so the kids and grandkids are also coming over to see them. This afternoon will be coffee and cake and a hot buffet later. Looking forward to seeing them.
Hope Mick is enjoying York.
Take care all and hope Saturday brings everyone moments of joy.

Marydoll Sat 26-Feb-22 07:18:07

Good morning all from a windy Glasgow, it sounds a bit wild out there.

Thank you GM for opening up, I hope Mick is enjoying himself in York and Gwen got on ok at the hospital. Wishing Iris a speedy recovery.

I don't plan to do much today after a pretty rubbish night. DD and SIL are coming up for lunch, to allow SIL to try on his kilt for the wedding. I hope it still fits!
Somewhere up the loft is the wedding box, containing ribbon to match his kilt, bought for his own wedding, but never used. I will take it to the florist, to ask them to use it for his thistle buttonhole. That is, if she can find the box!

Wishing you all a pleasant Saturday.

kittylester Sat 26-Feb-22 07:21:45

Good morning from a fairly bright North Leicestershire. Thank you for opening up Mattie.

I have to do my usual Saturday wander into the village for flowers before I do brunch for DH and DS1. They are off to the football while I read the papers and catch up with tv.

brook2704 Sat 26-Feb-22 07:24:58

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bit milder at 7º and the snow has all gone
Thanks for opening up GM and good to see Iris looking busy, hope she’s home very soon
DGD stayed over last night, she’s just woken up and making porridge in the kitchen with grandad. I’ll take her to her dance class later and then do a bit of shopping in town. I’m also hoping to get some gardening done this weekend Balou there’s lots to do here too
I bet it was lovely to see your DS and DGS Ash thanks for sharing the photos, the footy looks good!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 26-Feb-22 07:35:19

Good morning all from dry and bright Harrogate
Yesterday we had a lovely morning in York, the afternoon was spent at the hospital where I was presented with my new hearing aid which I now have to try to Bluetooth it to my phone and the microphone I was given.
Today we will have to clear out a bit of our attic ready for electrical work being done on Monday, and get the last of the dogs blankets washed so they are ready to give to a dog rescue centre.
Lovely pictures grandMattie and Ashcombe. Iris seems to be doing so well. A right little trouper!
Your DGS seems to be echoing his dad, which is very nice.
It’s difficult finding a different routine from the one we had with the dog, wondering if she’s scratching at the door unable to get in, the house is so quiet without her barking - she was a barker!
Hope everyone has the best day possible

Mapleleaf Sat 26-Feb-22 07:35:58

Good morning,

It’s a bright, chilly start here in South Yorkshire. We are promised a lovely weekend, and as York is not so very far away, I think * Mick* will be in for a fine weekend.

Hope it’s not long before Iris is home, GM..

Usual shopping to do this morning, then who knows?

Hope everyone has a good day.

Jaxjacky Sat 26-Feb-22 07:45:09

Good morning from a frosty, 0deg, S Hants.
Good to see Iris looking perky gM.
Football to keep an eye on and rugby to watch today, sport Saturday.
Enjoy your day all ??.
Thoughts with those struggling.

Grammaretto Sat 26-Feb-22 07:47:57

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is more Spring like now the snow has melted but the wind has got up again
Happy to see Iris sitting up and playing the recovery position?
I hope Mick is enjoying York .
Wishing you all a peaceful weekend.

Ali23 Sat 26-Feb-22 07:48:44

Good morning from Leicester everyone . I can hear the birds singing through the window, so it must be time to get up soon?

Not sure what’s in store today, but yesterday I finished making a little party house for my grandaughter’s toy mice.
I do have a teddy to finish knitting... he has laid abandoned for a few weeks, so that might be a plan.

Have a good day, whatever you’re doing!

Urmstongran Sat 26-Feb-22 07:56:23

Here’s Matt. Sums up everyone’s feelings.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry, sunny and we have a beautiful blue sky. Thanks for opening up grandMattie - Marydoll did ask Mick yesterday whether he’d sorted a deputy. Apparently not!

I’m taking L’il Miss to her ballet lesson late morning. Then no plans. Perfect for ruminating on what I might squish into a corner of the grip bag Himself will be carrying to the airport tomorrow. I only take a handbag saying ‘I’m fine’ that way I don’t have to hump anything around the concourse.
#lazygran. Lesson number 8(b).

Enjoy Saturday all who can. x

Gingster Sat 26-Feb-22 07:59:33

Good morning all with frost here too in Essex.

Little DGD stayed here the night and it still asleep. Mum had her scan and was radioactive , so little one wasn’t allowed near her. I’ll take her to her ballet class and drop her back to her mum afterwards.

Eldest Gd is home from Uni for a few days so will be coming for lunch, with her brothers and little sis and mum.

Lovely pic of Iris. Hope her recovery is speedy. Brave little girl ?

Your son and gs look a great pair. Ash , with their matching smiles and football shirts. ⚽️.

My 9 yr old gd has been given the part of Matilda in the school play. It’s a Middle School , so the age range is from 9 - 16. Eighty girls auditioned and she got the starring role. She is beyond excited ! . ?. A dear lovely girl - not at all a show off but will throw herself into it wholeheartedly! ?.

Sun has just appeared ?

Have a Good day everyone.???

Pittcity Sat 26-Feb-22 08:01:46

Good morning from sunny but frosty Colchester.
DS is home for the weekend for the first time for a month. He arrived late last night and we chatted until way past my bedtime. He'll catch up on sleep this morning so DH and I will go to Lidl to stock up.
Love to all ? x

harrigran Sat 26-Feb-22 08:03:59

Good morning from a dry NE.
No word yet from DS and family as to whether they are visiting today.
Yesterday was a lazy day but did manage to make a big pot of carrot and coriander soup.
Sister and BIL will bring some shopping and stay for a chat, something to look forward to.
Enjoy your weekend.

Grandmabatty Sat 26-Feb-22 08:07:43

Good morning all from Polmont. 8° but it feels colder. Grey skies and windy too. It's lovely to see photos of grandchildren Grandmattie and Ashcombe. Well done to Gingster granddaughter too! A future star. Urms have a lovely time in Spain.
Yesterday was full on grandma-ing. Playing with a toddler and cuddling, feeding and changing a baby. He smiled at me for the first time yesterday too and was making baby stories. It was lovely. I'm very lucky to spend time with them.
Today is housework day. I'll change the bedding and clean the glass and windows too. I need to clean the shelves in the fridge which is a job I hate. Have a good day all.

Lins1066 Sat 26-Feb-22 08:07:59

Good morning everyone from a dry, chilly S Welsh coast.
We had lunch out at our local Garden Centre yesterday after Book Club, sat outside as we had the little dog with us. It was very busy as it is Half Term.
Mr Lins is going to see the consultant shortly to have his eye checked following this second cataract operation.
We will go for a walk at some point I expect.
Take care and I hope that Saturday is kind to us all.

baubles Sat 26-Feb-22 08:10:22

Good morning Mattie, morning all from South Lanarkshire.

I’m not sure what’s happening with the weather as I have a little GC cuddling into me and can’t move to look out of the window.

Today we are taking DS and his children over to DD’s then, weather permitting, we will all go for a walk/scoot/bike ride in a nearby park.

Good to see Iris sitting up and playing.

Hope you find the ribbons Marydoll.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmadinosaur Sat 26-Feb-22 08:13:27

Good morning from East Yorkshire where it is bright and sunny but a frost on the car windows outside. I’m cosy in bed with a cuppa and MrGD has gone for a walk.
Our journey home was going well yesterday until we got to Doncaster where we had to change trains. Our connection was cancelled and we had to wait another 20 minutes extra on top of the 25 mins original
wait. Of course that was a 2 carriage train that was rammed with people.
Today we need to do some food shopping and we may treat ourselves to tea out after being reimbursed with something that had been overpaid previously.
Take care everyone .
