I can understand the Queen holding to her faith regardless of what life has thrown at her, I think her vows are so very important to her

I hope you manage to go to Mass Annie and remember your daughter. My mum was sad when she could no longer get to the Welsh

Lucca I think maybe it is a way of life to her, and when you have been brought up and lived like that for so long, you can't imagine a different direction. Even world disasters and family misfortunes do not seem to knock her off course due to her unswerving faith.

Slanging match = people like me coming in and giving an opposing view to the prevailing onslaught.

By the way my post about knowing if the queen is devout was a genuine question and I was interested to know how we tell someone’s real faith and was not a slur on the queen at all. Just a feeble attempt on my part to change the record a bit,

There are those who believe Church and State should be seperate Gsm they have a right to their views.
I'm not a Christian. I have looked at the religion carefully and it has had many laudable and interesting ideals, few of which seem to be present in today's versions, and which I actually find very agreeable. Unfortunately I don't like the blood sacrifice/slaughter of a young man concept. It has too many echoes of pagan rites for me.
The Christianity I tend to take a poke at is that version which means it is OK to amass wealth, give a tiny amount to charity and ignore all the rest in need.

She had a job first .

I expect the Queen, and I feel we lead a better life through attending church and through our commitment to our faith. I'm not saying that you need to show up and worship every week, but for us there us something special and spiritual about making the effort to worship in God's House. I expect she will remain steadfast until her dying day.

I don’t know why threads have to end in a polarised heated debate either.

Why is it that so many of Gransnet threads seem to end in slanging matches lately?

Going back to the original comment from Prince Harry, it sounded to me like either lifted directly from a Mills & Boon novel, or rather conceited notion that they were put together to save the world.

I think he had lost his way but is now influenced by his ambitious wife, and no, I do not think being ambitious is wrong, it is commendable. Meghan has certainly worked hard to get where she is today, but has unfortunately alienated many people on the way up. Though I do not believe that her actions could be described as entirely altruistic.

I think that Harry despite or perhaps because of, serving in the army, is easily led. When he left the army he was a boat bobbing aimlessly on the ocean when Meghan threw him a lifeline. For his sake I hope her vessel was not the Titanic.

Upthread, people started quoting the bible to justify the antipathy they feel towards the Sussexes. As has been shown on other threads, there is a bible quote to suit every occasion, so I just found some that talk about the inequity of being rich and the evils of bullying and calling people names.

I actually think that the Queen is very devout. But the people casting stones (is that biblical??) could maybe examine their consciences a bit, if they profess to be Christian.
