The Duke of Sussex said he and his wife had been "brought together for a reason" and shared a "commitment to a life of service" as they accepted a top accolade at the 53rd annual NAACP Image awards.

The Duke and Duchess appeared in person at the ceremony to accept the President's Award, which recognises special achievement and distinguished public service

Good post eazybee. Sneering it is, and I find it very uncomfortable. It's not funny.

We do know that she's devout Lucca. She makes that very clear in her Christmas speeches. And is known to regularly attend church privately.
Why resort to a slur like thattrisher ?
I suspect that the unpleasant comments are made by those who do not profess to be Christians.

Why is it a "slur" GSM? It's actually absolutely true. The Queen's Christianity is dependent on the fact that she considers herself head of the Church of England and therefore the top of the hierarchy that church depends on. She attends church on Sundays and religious festivals regularly. That's the sort of Christianity she supports. Many think this isn't really the message Christianity was meant to bring.
The royal children are looked after by Nannies and see their parents regularly. Staff keep their homes running -thats the hierarchy.

eazybee Wed 02-Mar-22 09:54:54

I don't.
You could try reading the Bible for understanding, rather than searching it (or googling) for quotations with which to sneer at people's faith.

I think the RFs relationship to Christianity is much like their involvement with small children. Happens at regular intervals but is highly dependent on staff and the hierarchy.

Hahahaha.

I think that is a brilliant definition.

I do not profess to be a Christian.

I'm not a hypocrite either.

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Romans?

That’s a very unpleasant post nadadeturbe. I’m sure you know that the Queen is a devout Christian.

She's still worth $800 million dollars though.

it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God

Lucca Wed 02-Mar-22 09:27:39

To be fair gsm we don’t actually know she’s a devout Christian we know she attends church a lot. Is that the same ?

Not religious myself, but isn't there some verse about rich men, camels and needles, and entering the kingdom of heaven?

Never mind, the ability to ask cutesy questions of small children probably lets you off the usual obligations.

I wonder has the RF ever heard the first part when they all attend church together...

Of all the traits you could ascribe to me, and I agree there are many, bible bashing is certainly not one of them! ?

Callistemon21 Tue 01-Mar-22 20:54:04

I personally don't think its a valid qualification for being a Head of State, but others may differ.
As if that's all they do

And if anyone is going to start quoting bits of the bible to discredit the Sussexes
No, I'll leave the Bible bashing to you.

volver Tue 01-Mar-22 20:50:39

I'm sure they do Callistemon.

However "Man with three children asks a child a question" is hardly earth-shattering or heart warming, is it? I personally don't think its a valid qualification for being a Head of State, but others may differ.

And if anyone is going to start quoting bits of the bible to discredit the Sussexes, I'm sure there are many bits that could discredit the rest of the Windsors too.

ask cutesy questions of small children

I'm sure, as a father of three, Prince William knows how to chat to and engage small children.

And, before I get criticised, I'm sure Prince Harry knows how to chat to and engage small children too.

Better than asking a little boy what he thinks of world events.
Or what he thought of last weekend's rugby result.

Off topic but just watched the Welsh news, William and Kate
in Wales for St.David’s Day , the children and some adults in
our traditional Welsh costume, huge crowds , William asked a
little boy ‘how many Welsh Cakes do you eat on St.David’s Day’

Three Welsh cakes, leek and potato soup and pancakes today!

Sounds a bit like Elsa in Frozen trisher!

OMG some of you really hang onto things don't you. It's bad for you. Remember Buddhism and let things go ^ “Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything — anger, anxiety, or possessions — we cannot be free.” — Thich Nhat Hanh,^

Anniebach Tue 01-Mar-22 18:00:54

There is one verse in the bible about doing good works

‘Be careful that you don’t do your your charitable giving before
men to be seen by them, or else you have no reward from your
Father in heaven’

Rosina Tue 01-Mar-22 17:40:11

Is there a verse in the Bible that speaks about those doing rather public good works and presumably accepting public acclaim for them having their reward in this life? I was moved by the last lines of 'Middlemarch':

“The growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.”

Smileless2012 Tue 01-Mar-22 17:33:48

The solitary walk down the Aisle was exactly what our ES's wife did and that's not the only similaritysad.

lemsip Tue 01-Mar-22 17:28:31

Just Doria her mother at the wedding was a 'statement'.
