The Duke of Sussex said he and his wife had been "brought together for a reason" and shared a "commitment to a life of service" as they accepted a top accolade at the 53rd annual NAACP Image awards.

The Duke and Duchess appeared in person at the ceremony to accept the President's Award, which recognises special achievement and distinguished public service

Well the NAACP Image Awards aren't daft are they, wonderful publicity all over the world. Why not give them an award.
A friend of mine has been to a Buckingham Palace Garden Party does that count for anything grin

The difference, Janamax, is that the Queen does not complain about her lot, nor attempt to sue people for comments written or (possibly) said about her.

FannyCornforth Mon 28-Feb-22 09:57:28

Janamax it’s fabulously ironic that you accuse another poster of being
‘childishly spiteful that a 2 year old would be proud of’ ?

Janamax Mon 28-Feb-22 09:52:47

Germanshepherdsmum

Yes, not exactly struggling with mum at home due to childcare costs and dad earning the minimum wage, unable to afford to heat their tiny, damp rented high rise flat and resorting to foodbanks are they?

Are you referring to the Queen? She didn't have this problem either. She had a whole horde of staff to look after Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward.

Janamax Mon 28-Feb-22 09:47:37

Charities and. NGOs need publicity and Prince Harry and Megan fulfill an important role in that respect, as doo the Cambridge. To complain that they don't have the same work ethic as the RF is ignorant at best about the work that Harry & Megan do or just childishly spiteful that a 2 year old would be proud of.

Young parents?
37 and 40, cushioned by immense wealth and a raft of staff?
Giving paid interviews in which they criticise the husband's family and play the victim?
Publishing books which they 'forget' they have authorised?
Suing anyone who voices a criticism of them?
Accomplishing what, exactly, other than a great deal of self- publicity and garnering immense amounts of money for which they have yet to deliver anything of merit?

Callistemon21 Sun 27-Feb-22 21:51:43

But, Violetsky, much of the rumour and malice emanates from the Sussexes themselves.

Why? Just why?
They bring on the criticism by their constant innuendos.

VioletSky Sun 27-Feb-22 21:48:57

I must admit I don't follow the Royal goings on too much but I've learnt a lot from this argument thread.

I've learnt a lot of respect for these young parents holding their heads up and accomplishing so much under a deluge of rumour and malice that would leave me running and hiding. I have a little experience of dealing with rumour and malace and I definitely still can't imagine how it must feel for them. It's heartbreaking

Callistemon21 Sun 27-Feb-22 21:21:19

I think they were real.

I'm not flouncing. I'm watching Stephen Fry talking about dragons.

I'm saying no more. ?

Pantglas2 Sun 27-Feb-22 20:50:55

Jeez.... I get her a drink and there’s a flounce! And referring to me as small fry isn’t ‘nice’ either but I can laugh not sulk ?

And since when do we have to be ‘naice’ when discussing these these things? We’re simply having a difference of opinion and batting it back and forth!

I thought posts of non-sequiturs were de rigeur for M&H threads.

Mea Culpa. hmm

Whatever gave you that idea?

volver Sun 27-Feb-22 20:41:50

?here’s a straw for you to clutch - you’re much funnier after a drink!

Not sure what that means but there are bigger fish to fry today so I'll let it go. Doesn't seem very nice though.

Wish I'd never posted it now.

?here’s a straw for you to clutch - you’re much funnier after a drink!

And now you’ve introduced that word - victim- into your post on a thread about the very folks who claimed that title all for themselves on a television interview broadcast around the world....

Not something the Queen or Archbishop have ever done is it?

Beswitched Sun 27-Feb-22 20:30:07

Still have no idea what you're on about. You just seem to be arguing for the sake of it.

My father has an award from the Queen. He was presented with it by a posh bloke in a uniform, had his picture in the papers and went to a garden party with the family Windsor.

Show off.

What has that got to do with anything?

Don't know really, it just seemed apt amongst the complaining about other people receiving awards.

He didn’t just marry them, he also agreed to baptise Meghan as per her wish to join the Anglican Church prior to her wedding.

He strikes me as a generous and kind man who didn’t need the hassle of issuing a firm denial that he’d illegally married them in the garden prior to the Big Day, which was one of Meghan mis speaks!

Oh a baptism. That's big of him.

I have nothing against the Archbishop of Canterbury, nothing at all, but trying to say that he's another of their supposed victims is clutching at straws a bit, isn't it?

Callistemon21 Sun 27-Feb-22 20:20:04

I kept a wedding hat in case DH ever got invited to a garden party at Buck House.
It probably has moth in it now.

GagaJo

I'm sure M&H DGAF about what UK grans think about them.

What I find more disturbing is that the NAACP is being run down by some on here as a dodgy organisation, instead of one of the most important organisations fighting racism in the US.

Gagajo to my mind that ties in exactly with the views expressed about M&H. There have been a number of posts criticising her for claiming there is racism in the UK and that she was treated badly (even within the RF). Black people don't matter and an organisation supporting them is dodgy seems to come from exactly the same place.
