I can't stop watching the news on TV or listening to it on the radio and it is scaring me so much. Those poor women and children who are now refugees. Now Putin is talking about nuclear forces to be on alert!!! I am so scared for the world. I keep crying thinking of how would my grand daughters and my baby grt GD cope if it was them forced to leave home. How is it affecting you??

Apparently Liz Truss has stirred things up with her remarks eliciting the Russians to use the nuclear threat. Could someone please reign her in, this is not a game?

Russian propaganda.
I hope you don't believe what Putin says- God help us all if people start doing that.

Putin has been planning this invasion for years, nothing liz Truss or anyone else says will have any influence on Putin's decisions.

Unfortunately, when he made these plans, he forgot to tell the Ukrainians what their part in his plans were. Faced with the might of the Russian army they were meant to roll over, throw down their arms and welcome the liberating army.

The Ukrainians thought that their part was that of any country's when faced by an unjustified invasion by a foreign army. They mobilised their army, whcih is clearly well trained and well motivated, and set out to drive the aggressor back within its borders.

And so far they are doing it very successfully. Not only that, but all most every country in the world has condemned Russia at the United Nations. Even China, their new best friend, abstained rather than supporting them.

Now as sanctions are brought in and pips in Russia are starting to squeak. Putin is trying to agree negotiations, though as yet no cease fire. He still thinks he can win.

Zelentsky has sensibly not agreed to taking part in negotiatons in Belorus. He would rapidly be drinking poisoned tea, touching poisoned surfaces, or just being arrested and never seem again, but is at least showing willing to negotiate, while Britain and the EU move weapons and supplies to the country via Poland.

Western field weapons are generally better than the Russian equivalent, which is why Putin is rattling the nuclear options.

I think that his own generals and ministers will remove him before that happens. The problem with elderly paranoic dictators is that they tend to end up alienating all their friends .

Well let's hope so. And let us hope that they do so sooner rather than later.

I hope so too.
Seeing him on TV alone at one end of that long table with all the others together at the other end surely they must think he must be suffering from paranoia at the least?
What do they really think of him?

Sorry if this has already been said but Putin looks as though he’s on heavy medication. His face looks more bloated of late and his eyes have a glassy stare.

Good to see some Russians demonstrating against the war but although I feel for them, their deprivation caused by sanctions is nothing compared to what Ukrainians are having to endure.

I’m hoping that one of his generals puts a bullet through his head soon.

Surprised it hasn’t happened by now. Mind you, he must have his supporters and he is appearing uncomfortably like Stalin and some of his predecessors. I would like to be a fly on the wall hearing conversations between him and Xi Jinping.

merlotgran yes, that has been noted. Curiously no-one is yet suggesting what the problem is. He looks as if he might be on steroids.

I do not think he will be killed, but I think he will be taken ill and admitted to hospital, and others will take over. He will spend the rest of his life at his country dacha and be too ill to travel.

Even the Russians do not kill their head of state openly these days

I saw a photograph of him yesterday taken on board one of his warships in 2015. His face looked lined and he looked older, so either he is ill now or maybe he’s having some sort of Botox treatment to get rid of his wrinkles!
