Do you unpack your case on an overnight break?

If you are just staying overnight in a hotel/B&B, do you unpack all of your clothes/shoes into the drawers/cupboards, or do you simply live out of your case?
Arrive at hotel 2 pm, depart 10.00 am the next morning.

I joined a couple for an overnight stay in a hotel, (separate rooms obviously!), they unpacked every single item into drawers and wardrobes. I found this a bit ridiculous.
What do you do in the same situation? x

No, small case for us only has toiletries, two clean tops, one pair of undies, couple of books, iPads, chargers, that’s it.

Use packing cubes and then just hang up shirt trousers dress.

Does it matter?

I don't unpack for 1 night stay. I only have pj's, make up, toothbrush, so really there's nothing to unpack

you are SO with it!

I didn't know it was called mid-century until an estate agent came the other week - I said that our bedroom furniture was rather old-fashioned and he said it was trendy mid-century ?

it is worth a fortune!

We went on a tour of India and stayed in lots of different places, eventually repacked our cases horizontally so we could see everything at a glance. Often had very early starts so we'd leave them open on the floor ready for our night things and put them outside the bedroom door for the porters.

I think it's becoming passé again

No I don't unpack on an overnight trip.

I use packing cubes so no, I don’t unpack into drawers etc. My toilet bag goes into the bathroom and that’s it.

If it's for a special evening event, will unpack my outfit for that and hang it up, also place sponge bag/make-up bag in bathroom. Everything else stays in the case.

No, I use those little clothes sacks to separate tops, trousers, nightwear and undies and I only unpack toothbrushes and cosmetics. I do hang coats up though.

No, have just had a two night break, hangers for tops and trousers , but nowhere to put your smalls , so leave them in suitcase.

PamelaJ1 Mon 07-Mar-22 10:24:41

I have a small back pack with a pair of knickers , pj’s & socks in.
I’m too gorgeous to need much make up and a few toiletries suffice. So, not much unpacking to do.
I will concede that if I am there for an occasion I will have an outfit that I will hang up and a pair of shoes too.

Grantanow Mon 07-Mar-22 12:43:22

Of course not.

Esmay Mon 07-Mar-22 12:45:03

No , in case I leave something behind and it's easily done .
But -
I hang up a blouse, skirt, dress and /or coat and will request an iron .

I tend to stick to a basic colour scheme -usually black with slashes of colour so I can mix and match .

I find plastic bags useful for dirty clothes /wet swimsuits and use disposable nappies to wrap anything that might leak - shampoo sun cream etc .

I do take care with packing as I've lived out of suitcases for years .

On several trips : the journey home has been delayed -sick children/cancelled flights so I try to preempt any problems .

Never

Supergran1946 Mon 07-Mar-22 13:18:29

I use Eagle Creek packing cubes and just lift the cubes into the drawers

Theoddbird Mon 07-Mar-22 13:40:34

Seems a waste of time really...

WoodLane7 Mon 07-Mar-22 13:41:45

Nope; I rarely unpack at all for anything less than 5 days, just live out of the suitcase…..

Petera Mon 07-Mar-22 13:46:24

My preferred technique for one night (and not likely to make 'Vogue travel tips') is to wear my oldest underwear which I then throw away and take a clean set out of my briefcase/computer bag...

Stella14 Mon 07-Mar-22 13:49:25

No, I wouldn’t for 2 nights either.

4allweknow Mon 07-Mar-22 14:07:14

If there is a needfor a special outfit for evening I would take that out and hang up. Toiletries would stay in bag taking out as required. Sometimes don't even fully unpack when visiting family for a week
