Good morning Mick and all who follow from South Lanarkshire. I haven’t yet checked what the weather is doing.

I’m a Wordler too Mic, I’ve just posted my score on the wordless chat thread.

Awake early as I’m worried about my DS and his partner. DS told me last night that has covid, he is asthmatic and my D out Law is 30 weeks pregnant.

I hope everyone has a good day.

BlueBalou Mon 07-Mar-22 06:07:56

Good morning Michael, I enjoy Wordle too. It gets my brain cells stirred up ?
Surgery visit at lunchtime, dog walk first thing and I really need to plant some bulbs too.
Wood burner coming Thursday so that will be a whole lot of mess because the fireplace needs opening up ??? but I will be glad to get it done.
Hope everyone has a good week x

grandMattie Mon 07-Mar-22 06:10:40

Good morning from a dawning E Kent. We are promised a glorious albeit cold day - max 5 deg!
DH is another Wordle fan, but then he does the cryptic crossword, the diabolical sudoku, etc. I’m too stupid in that area to do any.
Poor DH was in a great deal of pain yesterday, having been bashed about by the scope. I hope he’s managed some rest last night. Most painkillers are ineffective.
Cleaning today, I loathe it, but am reluctant to answer random ads at the newsagents.
I hope everyone has a reasonable day. Carpe diem. ????

grandMattie Mon 07-Mar-22 06:12:45

baubles, I call my sons’ partners daughters-UNlaw. People don’t listen properly and to a woman, they were delighted with their moniker!

Sar53 Mon 07-Mar-22 06:20:05

Good morning from a cold but dry Essex by the sea.
A quiet weekend and a quiet week to come.
Have a lovely Monday everyone xx

Gagagran Mon 07-Mar-22 06:30:27

Good Morning everyone from a chilly south coast. 2.0c this morning but dry.

Today we celebrate three family birthdays. My DD is 49, DiL is 52 and my big brother is 84. This morning we are going to have brunch with DD and DGD (who has come back from university for her Mum's birthday) at a lovely cafe in our little town. Albert Finney, a resident for many years, used to go there every morning for his breakfast.

Sorry to hear your DH is in such pain Mattie and just hope the consultant can help give him some ease. Thinking of you bothx.

My DH is also a Wordle, cryptic crossword and diabolical sudoku etc. aficionado. I'd rather read a book! I do get called on occasionally for crossword answers though, especially if they are of a literary nature.

I am finding the news so distressing and feel hope-less and helpless. How can such evil be unleashed? There has to be a reckoning.

Take care everyone and have the best day you can. sunshine

BlueSapphire Mon 07-Mar-22 06:42:42

Good morning everyone from a cold dry Northampton. An earlier morning for me as I need to prepare for the man coming to clean my suite today; which basically means making sure the cats are out of the way and not getting out of the house or up to mischief. I have decided that they will spend the morning in the summerhouse, so will need to put their food, water , beds etc out there. Wondering what they will make of it!

A quiet day spent at home yesterday, and got stuck into my new book club read, and am a third of the way through it. More of the same this afternoon I think. Also checking bus times for tomorrow morning as I need to be at the surgery at 8am!

Have already done Wordle and Worldle this morning; still to do the crosswords, easy and cryptic, and Sudoku. My paper also has word wheel and word ladder which I also enjoy - keeps me out of mischief!

Hope Monday is kind to all.

BigBertha1 Mon 07-Mar-22 06:43:53

Good morning from East Cheshire a bit frosty here. Off to play at my new golf course at 8.00 brrr.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 07-Mar-22 07:00:38

Morning Mick and all

grandMattie I do hope your DH is pain free and more comfortable soon.

Sar53 haven’t you got a special concert this weekend coming?

Off to the gym this morning, then the big decision- do iron all the bedding or send it off to the ironing service…

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️

Ashcombe Mon 07-Mar-22 07:07:01

Good morning all from a chilly Torbay. I just hope the NE wind from yesterday has moved to a milder direction. It felt bitter when I took the short walk to church, where money was being collected for Ukraine, in return for a blue and yellow friendship knot pin. (Photo)

Another Wordler here, along with DH, olddudders, who also completes Quordle and Octordle which defeat me. My family have set up a WhatsApp group to share the results, although the Australian branch are always ahead because they can access theirs 11 hours earlier than us. Even nine year old DGD joins in.

Early Lidl shop is necessary, not least as DH is due here tomorrow. Such a relief now that private PCR tests are no longer required. He can go out immediately so I’ve signed him up to do Front of House duties as we have a play running this week: Funny Money by Ray Cooney.

Your poor DH is really going through it, poor man, * grandMattie*. Your family has surely suffered enough this past year. I hope there is soon relief for him. Likewise, I hope your DS soon recovers and your DoutL remains well, BlueBalou.
Enjoy brunch, Gagagran and I trust it will enable you to put the horrors of the news to one side for a while. It is most distressing.

Cats are a law unto themselves, BlueSapphire so good luck with that! Perhaps a previously unseen cardboard box would help? DH's cats always assume that anything new is for them!!

Have a good week, everyone! ??????

Beechnut Mon 07-Mar-22 07:11:15

Good Morning from Severnside everyone. Cold and dry.

Had a good day yesterday considering. Beechnutella came to help me with the fence panels. She told me she had hurt her back and I did wonder whether we’d get it done when she walked through the door. We cracked on with it and took things steady and carefully. Afterwards I wanted to cut up some long branches and wanted her to be there while I used the chainsaw.

Tidying and washing to do this morning.

Your cats might think you’ve built them a posh pad of their own BlueSapphire.

Take care all and have the best day you can ??

Grandmadinosaur Mon 07-Mar-22 07:12:59

Good morning all from the airport Lounge at the airport. All checked in had breakfast and waiting for boarding our flight to Palma.
Sitting here watching the news on the TV screens it seems wrong to be off on a holiday whilst watching the awful news going on in other parts of the world.

Take care everyone.

Jaxjacky Mon 07-Mar-22 07:14:05

Morning all from a frosty S Hants. Hopefully a very mild dose Baubles as most people have had.
?your DH had a better night gM incessant pain is horrible, depressing too.
MrJ just left for work, bathrooms cleaning and hoovering for me, I’ve also got some seeds to post for my brother. Must pick up my prescription from the chemist and a tip run.
I don’t compute the ironing of bedding GG13, never happened in this house!
Have a lovely day all with some ??.

Gingster Mon 07-Mar-22 07:15:27

Good morning all . Dh was going fishing but it’s going to be very chilly so I think he might stay home in the warm.

The images from Ukraine are truly heartbreaking!

Hope you Dh is a little better today GM

My old school pal messaged last night to say her Dh had collapsed and after waiting 4 hours for the ambulance, her son took him to A and E. Im waiting to hear any developments.

Love to all ?❤️

cornergran Mon 07-Mar-22 07:17:28

Morning Mick, morning All from a chilly corner of Somerset. Curtains still closed so can tell you no more.

General dust removal and tidying yesterday as our friend is better so she and her husband can come tomorrow as planned. I do think I’ve forgotten how to host! Trouble is I was in the middle of moving pictures around to accommodate two new ones, a couple of walls are a right mess. Mr C says he’ll sort while I do the grocery shop. Phew.

Relieved that our wandering son returns later today. I’ll message our granddaughter when his plane lands, she has been worried about her Dad being so far away. I’ve been hiding my anxieties to reassure her.

Fingers crossed for your son and daughter in law baubles. I’m sure the cats will forgive you bluesapphire. Enjoy those celebrations gaga. Hope your husband is more comfortable today grandmattie.

Take care everyone. Hope Monday is kind to us all

harrigran Mon 07-Mar-22 07:22:40

Good morning from the NE where it is -2 and frosty.
Yesterday was a bad day, SIL was supposed to be transferred from one large city hospital to another for the emergency operation he needed but as of 11pm it had not happened.
DD, who only returned home to Brussels on Tuesday, is returning to the UK this morning and will be in Newcastle at lunchtime.
I got all the laundry done and the ironing so today I will do gentle housework.

Georgesgran Mon 07-Mar-22 07:29:09

Good morning from Durham. It’s very bright and we’ve had quite a hard frost overnight.
Babysitting duties today - I’ll be exhausted by the time I get home tonight.
I hope GM’s DH gets some relief from pain and wonder how Scentia’s DH is too.
My DD’s refer to their DH’s families as the outlaws!
Depressing news on TV -and a Russian athlete wearing a sign of war on his vest alongside a competitor from Ukraine.
Fingers crossed for better news from regular posters.

ShazzaKanazza Mon 07-Mar-22 07:30:26

Good morning Mick and everyone from Hull expecting sunshine today.
Have a great holiday Grandmadinosaur. I’m sure everyone in the lounge will be thinking the same as you. It’s terrible seeing those images of innocent people lives destroyed.
Yesterday’s Sunday lunch was lovely as we also invited DDs in laws too so DGD loved having both sets of grandparents fussing over her. All of us laying bets on when new GD will appear as she’s four days over today. DD looks worn out.
Today is just a zoom yoga and later picking up DGS from school. Enjoy your day everyone with moments of joy. ?

brook2704 Mon 07-Mar-22 07:32:21

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where we’ve some blue sky but still quite cold
Later today we’re travelling back home to Inverness after a lovely long weekend with the family
Safe journey for olddudders Ash and enjoy your time together
Hoping your DS and his partner aren’t too poorly with covid Baubles and recover quickly
Happy Birthday to all in the family Gaga! ??
Have a great holiday grandmadinosaur and enjoy every minute
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, take care all whatever the day brings ?

Good morning from sunny Colchester. DH was feeling a bit better yesterday. I am testing negative and feeling fine, so a walk around the park will help my sanity.
It seems that a lot more people have Covid now that restrictions are lifted and it's just like flu for most.
I'm doing Wordle, Nerdle, Quordle etc as well as reading, TV etc while looking after DH. We have Servant of the People starring the Ukrainian President recorded to watch today.
Love to all ? x

Marydoll Mon 07-Mar-22 07:47:33

Good morning all from a chilly, but sunny Glasgow, it is -5°C.
DH has been out golfing, since 7am! He is a hardy soul. ❄?

I'm so sorry to hear about your son and DIL, Baubles, and your SIL Harri, I will keep them in my prayers.

Mick, another Wordler here. You should join the Wordle thread. I have been attempting it in Italian (easier than English), French, German and Latin.
For some reason, I haven't found time in the last few days! ?

The bride and groom are popping in at lunchtime, to pick up the marriage certificate, the hand and jaw of Pedro. It will be a treat to catch up, we hardly saw them at the wedding.

Yesterday, we popped up to see DIL and give Dollie a goodie bag of treats from the wedding, because she had to go home early.
My DIL looked awful. I have been worried about her for weeks, but she keeps insisting she is OK.
Poor Dollie thought we had come to take her out. We had to appease her, with the promise of a sleepover and takeaway, next weekend!

I have monopolised this thread enough, over the last few days, so you will be glad to know I will be brief today!

Sending my best wishes to all who are poorly.

I cannot bear to mention Ukraine and how that evil man has destroyed the lives of those poor people. I feel so helpless.

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 07-Mar-22 07:48:35

Good morning all from sunny but v. Chilly Harrogate
Yesterdays church was more sparse than the previous week thankfully. Didn’t do much apart from that yesterday. I, too, am a Wordler and a few other word games haven’t done this mornings yet. I am horrified at the goings on in Ukraine with that twisted little weasel.
I do hope the hospital finds help for your husbands pain, grandMattie. It must be dreadful living with such pain.
Glad you are together again tomorrow Ashcombe.
Today is my day for chatting to my school friend. We haven’t met up since before covid so keep trying to plan a meeting, possibly in Carlisle.
Hope your SIL gets his operation Harrigran
Have the best day possible folks

Stilllearning Mon 07-Mar-22 08:04:03

Another good morning from S Lanarkshire, it’s dry but the sky looks heavy.

Oh baubles, a worrying day, I understand your worry but if it helps, my SiL near you had Covid three weeks ago after shielding for most of the last two years due to his asthma, and, although he tested positive for the whole ten day’s isolation period, he was absolutely fine.

Yesterday ended up being rather busy after I smugly wrote that I would spend the day doing ‘things I enjoy’. I decided to quickly tidy a cupboard in the kitchen where I have been storing plastic bags while I decided what to do with them, rather than throwing them out, This turned into a massive job of clearing and washing out cupboards which are now tidy and gleaming and I am glad that it’s done but definitely not a relaxed Sunday!

Off to Lenten mass soon, thinking about the people in Ukraine. Childminding duties later which I am looking forward to.

harrigran I’ll be remembering you and your family too, I hope the news is better today and for grandMattie’s husband and others.

Wishing a good day to all ???

Newquay Mon 07-Mar-22 08:04:10

Morning from an overcast Staffordshire.
Like OP’s friend, we had to wait about 3 hours for an ambulance last week when I thought DH had had TIA/stroke. On dialling 999 (a first) the first question was “had I already phoned?” so that alerted me! When the call ended and I asked if someone was on the way I was told something like my request was noted and had I got anyone I could call on to be with me!! Scary times aren’t they when you need help?
