Clive Myrie left Ukraine and made his way to Romania, he is now back in the UK. He and his colleague Lyse Doucet did an amazing job of reporting from war torn Kyiv, I have the greatest admiration for them both. Clive says he want to return to Kyiv, the whereabouts of Lyse Doucet are uncertain she may also have left the Ukraine. The reporter who has taken over from Clive Myrie is Rita Chakrabarti whom I believe is in Lviv. Well done to Clive, Lyse and all the many press out there including camera Men and Women. All good wishes to Rita Chakrabarti and all those who are courageous enough to bring us news from this war torn country.

Clive was looking very tired I thought. Glad he's back.
Those BBC journalists have restored my respect for the BBC (except Laura Kunsberg of course!!)

merlotgran Tue 08-Mar-22 17:43:34

What’s wrong with Laura Keuenssberg?

merlotgran Tue 08-Mar-22 17:47:00

Apologies for misspelling her name. I’m sure I didn’t type it that way. ?

Casdon Tue 08-Mar-22 17:53:48

Clive and the other journalists out there have done a great job, but I agree, I’m glad he’s home as he’s really looked exhausted, as if it’s taken it out of him in the last few days.

I'm very relieved. I was quite worried about him, and all the brave journalists and reporters who go to places of war so that we can know what is going on.

FannyCornforth Tue 08-Mar-22 18:09:04

It’s always been Jeremy Bowen for me

merlotgran Tue 08-Mar-22 18:09:08

Lyse Doucet is still there. She must be exhausted.

Jane43 Tue 08-Mar-22 18:12:23

Yes Lyse is still in Kyiv. She is an amazingly brave woman as is Orla Guerin and so was Kate Adie.

Aveline Tue 08-Mar-22 18:23:20

They are all terrific and are worth the licence fee alone.
Re Laura K - she always seems to ask such snide questions or at least makes them seem unpleasant!

Iam64 Tue 08-Mar-22 19:55:15

I admire all those journalists - high quality. I felt Clive Myrie was reporting from his heart, not hiding his feelings though of course containing them

Very glad to see this! He visibly aged each day he reported, and I wondered when his ‘tour of duty’ would end. Such a contrast to his appearance on Mastermind last Saturday.

I have huge admiration for ALL the reporters and their respective crews reporting from war-torn countries, such bravery. I hope they all come home safely.

Clive Myrie really surprised me when he hosted an edition of HIGNFY a few months ago. He was one of the funniest presenters they’ve had.

Jaxjacky Tue 08-Mar-22 21:03:32

They all have my total admiration, I agree merlot refreshingly surprised and Mastermind.

I like Laura Keuenssberg. Aveline says she asks such snide, unpleasant questions. That's her job. I like to watch her make Boris squirm. You can always tell when she's got him on the ropes because he starts to drop her Christian name into his answers as if she is his mate. More power to her elbow.

Iam64 Wed 09-Mar-22 08:44:45

I often see people accusing Keunssberg of being biased to the Conservatives, often by the same people who accuse the bbc of being biased towards the left.
I see her as an excellent reporter. I don’t see the bbc as left biased.

Aveline Wed 09-Mar-22 08:52:15

Somehow it ain't what she says but the way that she says it that puts me off Kuenssberg. Others seem to hold politicians to account in a more acceptable (to me) way.

Applegran Wed 09-Mar-22 11:22:02

I too am full of admiration for Clive Myrie, Lise Ducette, Rita Charabati, and the other reporters, cameramen and women and others taking huge risks to report the truth to us. This is so important - if we didn't have these courageous people doing this work, Putin would be able to do his terrible work without the world knowing the full horror of it. Thank you to all of them - the BBC has done and is doing a great job of reporting in the most dreadful circumstances.

I was relieved when I learned he was back in the UK. He deserves some kind of recognition as does Lice Duscett. Why morons like Gavin Williamson receive honours for massive mistakes and deceit I'll never know.

tigger Wed 09-Mar-22 11:31:46

I mean Lyce not lice apologies

Wheniwasyourage Wed 09-Mar-22 11:34:37

Please can I put in a word for Matt Frei and Lindsey Hilsum on Channel 4? Like the BBC staff they and their teams have been in dangerous places but have been reporting what goes on. I am sure there are plenty of other broadcasting organisations doing the same thing. Applegran is right, Putin cannot get away with what he is doing while these brave people are letting us know about it.

Praise and thanks to them all.

Hats off to the BBC for the standard of reporting. Those journalists must be rewarded for their courage. I’ve tried watching other tv news stations but they’re not a patch on the Beeb.

I’m also relieved that he’s back. Saw Rita Chakrabarti on last night ( wearing a fabulous silver padded coat) and wondered if she’d gone to replace Clive. Lyse Doucet still there, she’s like another Kate Adie. Didn’t the military used to say they couldn’t begin the fighting until Kate arrived ?

maturefloosy Wed 09-Mar-22 11:40:05

I too am relieved that Clive is home now - - he looked so very tired and did a great job from right inside the war area. The BBC are lucky to have him. Lyse needs to come out or at least travel further east to relative safety - she looks exhausted too and the whole crew must be quite scared now. . .

I listen to the BBC World Service and I have such huge respect and gratitude towards these reporters.
