The obvious one to me are adverts on tv. Far too many and quite intrusive these days. There used to be a limit on the time but that seems to have disappeared. I could also say ,especially with politicians, too much talk, too little action.

It took a whopping 32 hours before they got a mention! ?

Is this some sort of GN record, I wonder?

Or is it a bit like Mornington Crescent? ?

Weather, nanna8
There is just too much of it, especially in Australia.

Oh dear, I say "folk" all the time. blush I think it's a Scottish thing?

No volver, I say it all the time too, and I am not Scottish.
It must be an intelligent, witty and eloquent thing wink

And it’s certainly a darn sight better than ‘you guys’ envy

Oh well said! A lady I’m friendly with has said for years now, “People have too many rights and abuse them”! Probably not very popular but I’m in total agreement!

tv ads especially funeral plans and life insurance

Clevedon - I’d recommend shopping at Aldi. I can do a Big Shop there in record time because the choice is limited and I know exactly where everything is. ??

‘I'm going to stick my neck out and say there are far too many tv programmes about Yorkshire. I did enjoy Amanda Owen and her Yorkshire Farm though!’

I agree, mayisay! I do like most of Yorkshire, I was at college there, but as a Lancashire lass it’s annoying that very few progs are made about our county. We have some beautiful countryside - Pendle, the Forest of Bowland, the Lune Valley, Silverdale, Morecambe Bay, the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. Let’s see more of Lancashire on TV please!

On the general subject of ‘too much’ - definitely takeaways and other unhealthy food. I can’t understand who can afford to buy all these pizzas, burgers, kebabs, etc! ?

Too much traffic
Too much rushing around
Too much hype from the media

Definitely Choice. I find food shopping a nightmare these days, too many similar things to choose from

Oooo No mayisay.
I love all the Yorkshire programmes. I watch them all.
Maybe because I have always wanted to live there.
I know I never will though.

adverts provide time to go to the loo, wash up, get changed do anything other than watch the box. press the silent button if my back is too bad to get up and move. always have a book or magazine by the side of the chair.

Hypocrisy

Agree. It's rife nowadays and may be because parents aren't teaching children the importance of telling the truth and keeping ones word? truth is a tourist at best and deceased at worst but hardly apparent nowadays. Casual lying.thats it !

Mollygo Thu 10-Mar-22 14:12:47

Celebrities that even the younger members of my family either haven’t heard of or have no idea why they are ‘celebrities’.

4allweknow Thu 10-Mar-22 14:11:55

Too many motorists who just overtake and expect to be able to jut in in front of you causing you to slow down. Too many people who do not accept or even understand their responsibilities to others.

Startingover another Yes from me. My vet is in a rage over the amount of puppy breeding. I've a rescue and my sister's dog died in October so we are off tonight a rescue centre where she is visiting a wee dog she's hoping to adopt. Rescue all the way!

Secretsquirrel1 Thu 10-Mar-22 14:05:12

My sister was talking about this the other day Greenfinch. She lives in France and said the French take the pss out of the British for constantly saying wow ! that’s amazing ! or that’s incredible! She showed me a pop video with a French guy on top of an open lorry with dancers which was apparently parodying us lot.
I’ve got a feeling my sister was trying to tell me that I was doing that and it was annoying her lol ?

polly123 Thu 10-Mar-22 14:02:21

Wokery and cancel culture.
Words such as awesome, raging etc.
Oily, dishonest and repetitive robotic politicians.
SUVs especially where I live.
Celebrity stuff, boring, predictable and all about them.
Adverts, too long and often patronising. Does anyone actually watch them?

Intolerant older people who constantly criticise younger people and fail to embrace change.
The use of the following expressions which are old fashioned and meaningless.
Out and about
All and sundry
Folk ( when referring to others)

Mobile menaces (sorry phones). They kill the art of conversation which they were intended to promote. It’s called progress.
