The obvious one to me are adverts on tv. Far too many and quite intrusive these days. There used to be a limit on the time but that seems to have disappeared. I could also say ,especially with politicians, too much talk, too little action.

Too much rubbish on our streets
Too many repeats on radio 4, they seem incapable of making any new programmes

Easter products like hot cross buns and chocolate eggs in the shops just after Christmas.
Christmas products starting in September.
School uniforms in shops as soon as the summer holidays start.
Adverts for summer holidays in the New year.

Too many cars on the road.

Too many administrators and not enough workers. Especially in health care.

Our hospital used to have 140 beds when it opened in the 70's.
Now it is 4 stories of offices with 24 actual beds.

Entitlement

People who pepper their sentences with ‘like’.
People who say ‘was’ instead of ‘said’.

ShazzaKanazza Fri 11-Mar-22 08:45:03

I agree with all of these but there’s also too much of people sitting on mobile phones and especially bleeping Facebook while in company!!!

Poor use of the ENGLISH language, especially on television and radio when the people speaking use such words as somethink, nothink and everythink if you appreciate my meaning.

Furthermore, do you know the meaning of the following,
(a i)
(go i)
(ge i ) etc, do I need to say more?
There are many other words which are equally unintelligible. Think about i when you hear people speak.

Regards (ta) you all for no(y). (this last one is of Irish usage)

Do ya ge my meanink

Sorry, no, I’m not sure that I do get your meaning.
Do you mean glottal stops?

Mollygo Fri 11-Mar-22 09:27:55

Usually right, I don’t understand what you have written either and that’s another irritation for me.
Stuff that’s written which makes no sense to the reader.

FannyCornforth Fri 11-Mar-22 09:33:48

It’s ironic that Usuallyright bemoans the use of ‘poor ENGLISH’, Molly

If you are denoting glottal stops, Usually, you use apostrophes to replace the missing consonants and write phonetically

As in:
glo’ aw - glottal
Missin’ le’ers - missing letters

Blimey, Jaibee007 are you having a bad day?

Gongoozler Fri 11-Mar-22 15:23:28

Most of the above (the ones I understood) plus, in case I missed it, people on tv who start an interview by saying “I mean” before they have said anything to mean!

Gongoozler Fri 11-Mar-22 15:24:53

p.s. Adverts for charities asking for donations in my will!

'Slebs' on the panels of talent shows with exaggerated 'shocked/astonished' expressions, look at me, me, me - who cares? Shouldn't it be the talent which supposedly makes these shows worth watching, or am I mistaken?

"Celebs" going on free holidays disguised as tv programmes.
Litter and fly tipping.
Woke tv adverts which don't represent the UK population.
Take aways and junk food.
Ageism.

Too many people saying one thing and doing the opposite, I don’t just mean politicians.

pinkprincess Fri 11-Mar-22 21:59:50

Use of the words ''revealed'' ''sourced''and ''stunning'.

Re the celebs going on freebie holibobs

Especially when they have titles like this:

‘Joanna Lumley’s India’ (a real one)

‘Jane McDonald’s Yorkshire’ (I think that this is real)

‘Eamonn Holmes’ Suez Canal’ (one to give a wide berth)

‘Freddie Flintoff’s Guangdong Province’ (a must see)

Effalump - I agree with you .There are far too many funeral plans .
Some are back to back .

Plus those hard sell ads for mattress toppers .
