Mothers going to Hen parties!

I was at my daughter's hen do. She had two : one for friends and the other for family and older friends. Both me and her mum in law to be were invited and grandmothers on both sides. We had afternoon tea then went for drinks. We all had fun and felt very wanted. Each to their own, I suppose.

I went to our daughter's hen night as did her mother-in-law to be, and my sisters. This was 20 years ago. Hen dos weren't the elaborate affairs they are now. We just went into town in a limo and had a meal.
DD's friend got married about 3 years ago and had three elaborate hen dos.
A weekend away, a meal and a party.

I was invited to my daughters hen weekend and I had a lovely time. I don’t think mil to be was invited. I would not have been offended if she hadn’t invited me.

In fact I can't think of anyone I know who didn't go to their daughter's hen night.

I went to both my daughter’s and my DiL’s hen dos.

I have been to all my DiL’s hen parties, my mum came with us to two of them, she was in her late 70’s and had an absolute ball. At the one in an exclusive club in Covent Garden we lost her for a while only to find her sitting outside with the DJ (a famous Radio 1 one at that).

I didn't go to any of them! Never expected to.

I’ve been to the hen parties and week ends of good friend’s daughters and have always had a great time. I love mixing with those younger than me, but I’m always careful not to overstep the mark!

Then daughter and her friends went off to a club and left us oldies to drink and chat.

I went to DD's hen party and so did her future MIL;
the oldies went home after a lovely civilised dinner and some fun then the younger ones carried on celebrating in the city.

I went to a hen do of a friend about 15 years ago, where the mother & MiL of the bride were both present. The MiL got so drunk that she started using a 'decorative' whip on a young guy she met and fancied in the nightclub. It was mortifying!

Sister in Law went to all of her daughters hen parties and took her mother too, apparently they all had a great time.

I didn't have a hen party for any of my marriages

Oddly, my daughters didn't have one either. Son didn't have a stag do.

zoejory probably because we had other things to spend our money on, although back in 1971 I had never heard of Hen Parties.

I went to all my nieces hens, and my daughter had a hen weekend last year, I had a brilliant time, as did everybody else. In fact it was so good we are planning a ‘no hen’ in the autumn, as they are all married now.

I didn’t have a hen party either and have never been to one. I don’t feel in the least deprived after some things I’ve heard.

It depends entirely on who you know Germanshepherdsmum. Hens aren’t by any means all drunken, crude raucous affairs you know.

I was at my DIL's hen do a few weeks ago with my daughter. I was delighted to be asked.
We rented a large house, complete with swimming pool and hot tub and I had an absolute ball, getting to know her family and a few close friends. The rest of the party would not allow me to do anything, as MOG and spoiled me rotten, insisting on daily lateral flow tests, as I was CEV. I was a bit overwhelmed that they were so concerned about keeping me safe.

I hadn't been able to meet them, due to shielding for the last two years, so it was a great way to get to know them all before the wedding.

No drunken orgies, just lots of fun and good food, including a murder mystery night. So much fun was had, that at the wedding a few weeks ago, we decided we are going to have non hen do in the future.

I went to the meal for DD's hen night but left them to it when they went clubbing. DiL had a family meal which I attended but was not invited to the hen night.
I was only 46 when DD got married and I thought I should leave the younger generation to it.
I certainly wouldn't attend if I was in my 70s.

I didn't have one as they weren't invented then.

However, I managed to cause chaos at one for my friend!!

Not for me, let the younger ones enjoy themselves without restraint, no worrying about the MOB or future MIL.

I went to DD1's as did her MiL to be but it was a spa weekend and not very wild as she didn't drink alcohol and her friends were not into loud nights out.

I went to the first part of my daughter's hen party : a private viewing of her favourite film (Dirty Dancing), a drive in a pink stretch hummer (gawd!) a cocktail making class then, at last, a meal. It was awful. I left asap and glad to get home. I'm sure the girls were glad that I'd gone too.
