The weather has turned and the beautiful sunshine of the past week or so has turned to rain and an overcast sky. Yesterday my dear brother was here helping me sort out the spare bedroom which had slowly turned into a junk room!!! It is now going to be called the 'attic' Things that I want to keep but seldom use are now packed neatly in boxes and a cupboard and chest of drawers. I can find anything now instead of having to search for what ever it was. He took everything away I didn't need or want and will dispose of for me. Its such a weight of my shoulders. Today I have a small stack of items which need to be placed in the garden shed so will do that later. I have an old work colleague coming for lunch and my gp ringing this afternoon for a meds review. So a full on day again. It would have been lovely if the sun was out again but the weather won't affect what I'm doing. smile

In that case Lucca you will look very stylish.

Thank you ! Actually I think I rather do ! I shall wear big earrings sent as a cheer up gift by wonderful DIL and a rather ridiculous tunic top I bought and sit outside a cafe with a friend this morning and try some tennis this afternoon. Onward and upwards eh !

I'm sorting out the garage to make a laundry area in the warmer weather.

Lucca that is an awful realisation of your situation, and taking away none of the seriousness of yesterday for you, can I say Dame Judi Dench has fabulous hair (always looks fab) and a short pixie cut suits many ladies.

BBbevan Sat 02-Apr-22 03:55:21

So sorry to hear your newsLucca I'm afraid I missed your earlier post. Thinking of you and hope you having loving people around you .

Lucca Fri 01-Apr-22 21:24:01

My hair started to fall out this morning so as well as finding a good wig I had my hair chopped very short and am now known as Dame Judi. ..

I can only repeat what JenniferEccles has said.
So sorry Lucca . You will find caring support on here with virtual friends and I hope you have family and friends supporting you at home.
I hope your niece helps you find a wig (or why not 2) that will lift your spirits. ?

JenniferEccles Fri 01-Apr-22 17:26:18

So sorry to have just read your latest post Lucca
What a terrible shock it must have been for you to receive the news. I do hope you have supportive family and friends to help you, and there are always virtual friends on here, some of whom will be going through something similar.
Your niece sounds lovely to be helping you chose a wig.

Worked til 3pm...did a few messages on the way home...just preparing for youngest GDs birthday celebrations at ours tomorrow...then going over the pub later to meet friends

Oh Lucca, a big hug from me ?
Well yesterday’s 6 hour power cut extended to 9 hours by late afternoon, not a happy bunny ?
I just hope we don’t have another one anytime soon!
Today I have taken DDog to the dog walking field with my friend and her dog, very well worthwhile and lovely sunshine despite the frosty start. DDog is now sourd asleep bless her. I will definitely book more regular sessions.
I have planted a dozen strawberry plants in tubs, planted 100 miniature daffodils ‘in the green’, sorted out the boggy spot by the back door by laying a few slabs and putting out all the pebbles we’ve collected from various beaches over many years.

I have a horrible feeling that I am getting a chest infection, beginning to feel pretty ropey.... have done a LFT and it’s negative thankfully. I need to take DH to the chiropractor tomorrow otherwise nothing planned for the weekend.

I met two of my daughters for coffee and had a cuddle with DGS.
Been out for lunch with a longtime friend and lost nearly 4 hours along the way.
No dinner to get as I’m full up and will watch a couple of recorded programmes plus Grayson Art Club whilst doing some crochet this evening.

Thanks for the kind messages! Sadly my treatment will only buy me time, not a cure. But I’m trying to be as positive as I can…some days that goes well, sone days it doesn’t ! It would help if I could sleep !!

That sounds exactly like my best friend in the world. She was given 8 more years and lived it to the full. She was also troubled with lack of sleep.

Oh my word I won’t have 8 years but I’d dearly love that !,

BBbevan Fri 01-Apr-22 10:42:33

Nothing much I hope. We have visitors tomorrow, so we have changed bed linen and cleaned all through first thing this morning. Sunny, cold and windy out so we will ,hopefully have a quiet afternoon by the fire.

Lucca

I’m going to look at wigs in case the chemo makes my hair fall out.

Just seen this, hope you find something that you are really pleased and comfortable with.

JaneJudge Fri 01-Apr-22 10:31:27

Oh Lucca flowers good luck finding a nice wig smile

Whitewavemark2 Fri 01-Apr-22 10:27:57

Just been out walking the dog for an hour, now sitting with coffee, then the dentist followed by the hygienist, then lunch then walking the dog for another hour, then preparing dinner then not sure.

I've heard that there is a pop-in corona virus vaccination centre not far from here today. So I will go and see if I can have my fourth jab.

Kim19 Fri 01-Apr-22 09:07:34

?for you, Lucca. Good luck with the wig trial. Remember doing it with my lovely Mum and we ended up having such a laugh through the underlying misery. Hope the head improves for your errand of mercy, Monica. I'm going to brave the cold here and venture into the big city for lunch with a friend. We both need some social activity rather keenly. Cheers everyone!

M0nica Fri 01-Apr-22 07:57:25

Well, my day has gone wrong already and it isn't 8.00am yet.

DH is going to collect a floor sander from a hire shop 20 miles away. It is a pleasant rural journey, so we were going to go together but in the night I woke up and felt a migraine come-on. I immediately got up and had some pills, but it is still there and I am feeling under the weather so will probably opt for a morning on the sofa with a rug and a undemanding book, variously reading and sleeping.

After lunch I am taking a friend for her 4th jab. She cannot drive and the centre is 10 miles away, so I cannot let her down. Hopfully by then I will be feeling better.

Have fun choosing your wig, Lucca.

sodapop Fri 01-Apr-22 07:24:15

Snow here overnight and it's really cold. I'm working in the library this morning so better get moving.
Good luck with the wig Lucca and hope the chemo is not too debilitating. Enjoy the good days.

Sara1954 Fri 01-Apr-22 06:24:27

When my friend lost all her hair she was only in her early fifties, always having had a head of lovely dark hair, she opted to go blonde. Her hair grew back, but she has stayed blonde ever since.
Hope things are going okay for you Lucca, tough times.
