Anyone experienced any good April Fools today or in the past? The spaghetti growing trees still gets a mention. I only saw a brief one on Morning Live.

I’ve just deleted a text from Curry’s I never look at them but I’m sure I caught the headline. Hoverboards now in stock! I thought was that an April fool joke.

I’ve had loads of stupid emails from companies with ‘joke’ products; a dog collar that reads your dogs mind (quite good) to tomato toothpaste (very weak).
At 2am DH told me that there was some poo behind the toilet.
I fell for it, and made him a cup of tea smile

Do people do these I dont think my grandkids know what they are I thought they were a thing of the past
I had that Curry’s one but deleted it without reading didn’t connect it with aprils fool though

Where does it come from ? Why April and not March or may ?

BlueBelle it’s because pagans used to celebrate their New Year in April.
It was a way of shaming them when the Gregorian calendar was introduced

An email from World of Books, sorry, Wob, saying that they had an urgent product recall for a list of about half a dozen books because they could cause paper cuts.

Our local cake shop advertised a new cake with smoked kipper icing!

My best one (many moons ago) was as follows.

DH as sole proprietor of a small carpenter/joiner had recently had a letter from the VAT collectors with some changes to what work was exempt from VAT. I photocopied the letter with plain paper over the text then typed a message in the blank space. This was to effect that it had come to their attention that he regularly took home offcuts of wood and used them as household fuel. This was against regulations and he was requested to estimate how much wood had been used in this way over the past year and pay VAT on the transaction.

I put this in the original envelope and left it on the inside mat at the front door as if it had come through the post. He found it there, tore it open and went apoplectic. He was not normally a swearing type of man, but words came out of his mouth that I had never heard before. I was thankful that as 1st April had fallen on a Saturday, when he only worked till noon and that he was booked that afternoon to play at a wedding with his band, so was soon gone taking the letter with him . If any of the Band twigged it was an April Fool they did not tell him and I cunningly went early to bed, to avoid listening to him ranting and raving.

Sunday morning I told him the truth and he was not best pleased, but went on every 1st April thereafter to tell all and sundry how he had been well and truly fooled grin

I like the wob one. I got the Superdrug email for Ketchup toothpaste, it said 98% of people love it. They asked 2 people and one was the designer.

My uncle lives in assisted living. He has special needs and when I was there the other day I asked him if he was going to play a joke as it was April fools day. He said yes I’m going to tell Josie her shoe laces are undone but it will only be a joke. Bless him I thought that was so sweet and innocent. He’s 76.

My DD didn't fall for it when I told her there was thick snow outside one April Fools' Day years ago. (We lived somewhere quite mild.)

When she finally looked outside she realised that it wasn't an April Fool joke ☃️

Just watched the BBC weather forecast on Reporting Scotland. The usual town names were added to by Tannochbrae, Brigadoon and Shieldinch. I didn't see any more, but may have missed some. It's great when someone show some imagination to cheer us up!

DH got a YouTube video from Duolingo about an American legal firm offering to help if you were being intimidated by a big green owl. I love April Fools!

I fooled my daughter this morning but whatsapping her to say I'm pregnant (I'm 76)!

I shocked her for a couple of minutes (she was probably too harrassed workwise to think of the date).

It was her colleagues who reminded her. She still demanded reassurance from me!

My seven year old grandson plotted with his Mum to hide every single pair of his Dad's underpants. Poor man ended up doing the school run wearing Speedos under his trousers grin

We always would burst into the children's rooms yelling that it was snowing!

This year my youngest sends me a WhatsApp telling me not to bother as it really had been snowing!

Callistemon21 Fri 01-Apr-22 20:42:49

Zoejory yes, I think she didn't believe me as it was an annual joke.

We had some snow here yesterday but nothing settled and she lives somewhere much warmer now!

Here’s our local one - bull shark spotted in the River Usk at Brecon.

Callistemon21 Fri 01-Apr-22 20:55:46

shock
I hope it doesn't swim downstream!!

Casdon Fri 01-Apr-22 21:13:10

I think you’re safe Callistemon21, it won’t fit under Llangynidr bridge!

Callistemon21 Fri 01-Apr-22 22:23:40

Oh good!

I hope you're all feeding it fish and chips.

Richard Dimbleby’s spaghetti harvest film will never be bettered.

DD reminded me today of one she played on me years ago.

She had just had oral surgery a few days beforehand and had a number of stitches in her mouth. The bits of loose thread were really annoying her and she threatened to cut them out, as she couldn't stand them any longer.
She came downstairs with blood (tomato ketchup) on her lips and pieces of black thread in her hand, saying she had pulled the stitches out.
I totally freaked out, asking whatever had possessed her to do so, saying we would need to go to hospital.
Despite having successfully played a number of April Fool jokes on my pupils that day, it never occurred to me that I would fall for one, myself!

If I hadn't felt under the weather today, I would have played one on DH or my children, as I do every year. In fact I hadn't realised that today was the first of April!

I loved playing them on my colleagues. They usually took the form of official letters from the LA education department or staff emails, directing them to do something ridiculous or utterly impossible.

I texted my DD yesterday to say that we'd just found out that our huge very fluffy male cat Finn was actually a girl so we'd have to start calling him/her Fiona. DD completely fell for it and seriously asked what the cat's pronouns would be.
