Thank you for the Prosecco Shazza and great news about your holiday, it’s time to get that suitcase dusted off and your sun cream ready!
Your Ibiza holiday sounds lovely too Grannmarie and good that things have been well organised for your DH
Thanks gillgran, I’m home now in Inverness after getting the flight from Luton earlier - we had another lovely day and went to Dunstable Downs watching some gliders take off and land and both the DGSs enjoyed flying their kites. DD1 and SiL dropped me off at the airport on their way home so that was kind of them
Well done with the bread making dmms I bet your house smells lovely when it’s baking - yum

Good evening Soop and Kitcheners. Lovely as always to read your news today. I’ll be joining you travellers soon because DH has booked us to go to Benalmadena in a couple of weeks. First trip abroad for over 2 years. So I’m a bit nervous, not of catching covid but the whole travelling experience it’s been a while.
Today we’ve had DD and family and DS and GS.
My Grandson delightful boy that he is has a compulsion to empty any liquid out that’s hanging around. Hence the emptying of the tadpoles a couple of weeks ago. So you have to hang on to your wine and cups of tea and all bird baths get emptied. Really hoping it’s just a long phase bless him. But he emptied my new Jo Malone Reed diffuser into the toilet it just looks like water in the jar!!
We didn’t think to put it out of his way.
But we all had a lovely play and fun in the garden. Family gatherings are the best.
All your holidays sound amazing. Enjoy?
Oh by the way I made a lovely banana loaf today so you are all welcome to some and join us for a Prosecco you’d all be most welcome.
Love to all ?

We've had an overcast, but mild & dry day here in our bit of East Anglia. No rain yet for our parched garden, & the local farmers crops.

Safe journey home Brook, isn't it lovely to see our DC & DGC.

I'm pleased that Mr.Soop's cataracts will be sorted soon, our eyesight is so precious.

My DH had his 2nd vaccine booster yesterday, mine is next Saturday.
We are still just about the only ones not to succumbed to Covid in our large extended family. My sister & sister-in-law, both of whom were amongst the "shielded", both recently tested positive, (even after more than 2 months my sister is still not back to rights, although her general health is poor).

Have a good evening, on this first day of May.

soop Sun 01-May-22 17:11:37

I have a couple of jobs to attend to. After which, it will be a relaxing evening. A glass of red wine will be my treat at 8:30. As it's May Day, I may treat myself to two.

Enjoy your evening, lovely peoples. I shall visit our kitchen again tomorrow.

The weather is much improved (after yesterday's down-pour). The spring that supplies our drinking water has been replenished, for which we are most grateful.

TOYA smile moon

Grannmarie We are delighted to hear you sounding totally satisfied with the assistance that you have received during what can be a stressful part of anyone's travels. You sound very much "at home" in the glorious sunshine of Ibiza. Have yourselves a special holiday treat.

Grandmabatty Should you be wresting with an old bed AND transporting it to your drive? Have you a dose of your energy to spare? If so, I would be most grateful.

Blossoming I cannot remember when I last enjoyed a bacon roll. You have made my mouth water.

Sweetie Pie - feral pussy cat, has enjoyed an entire tin of prime chicken cat food plus two sachets of tasty looking fish with a handful of biscuits. When I have finished with the computer, I wouldn't be surprised to find her lolling on her mat and expecting further courses. grin

Afternoon kitcheners. A mediterranean blue sky here and the temperature is rising. Don't worry soop my attempts at keeping the house under control are pretty languid and arbitrary. I "blitz" what I fancy for about ten minutes then sit down for a cup of tea. My baking has been knocking up dough for a pizza for tea and some granary bread. I love making bread. Can do it in my sleep (not advised) and only do it when I want and because I want to. It is soothing and gives me headspace. There is loads I can't/don't do. Reading has always been an escape for me also. I am also a great fan of the afternoon nap...
Ibiza sounds amazing Granmarie. Enjoy yourself. So glad all seems to be going smoothly.
TOYA

Grandmabatty Sun 01-May-22 14:00:26

That sounds lovely Grannmarie. Have a lovely time x

Grannmarie Sun 01-May-22 13:39:08

Good afternoon Soop and lovely Kitchen people, many thanks for all your kind good wishes for our holiday.

Greetings from sunny Ibiza, where it is Mother's Day! Our journey was fine, airport assistance is to be recommended because we skipped all the queues! When we arrived at our apartment, DH's hired mobility scooter was already charging at reception. People have been so kind and helpful, I'm very grateful. ??

We strolled/scooted along the promenade enjoying the sunshine ?, then we went to the town square where there was a big crowd lining the streets to see a huge procession of vintage cars and motor cycles, followed by several horse drawn open carriages with families and groups in traditional Spanish dress, quite a spectacle.
DH enjoyed several Kodak moments!
We made our way to the marina near our apartments and enjoyed mojitos and the view. We were glad of the sea breeze, it was very warm watching the parade.
I feel a wee siesta coming on!
I'm going to relax awhile and catch up on all your news.
TOYA.

Happy May 1st to the kitcheners. Torben has a lovely name for a lovely boy Soop. I'm feeling rather chuffed with myself. I managed to dismantle the old bed and wrestle it onto the drive. In the process I discovered a bag of paperwork from five years ago so I have been happily shredding. I've done a small ironing too. I'm having a late lunch while watching TV. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

Blossoming Sun 01-May-22 13:27:57

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners and a very happy May Day to you all.

It’s raining here too, we have been eating bacon rolls and drinking tea and generally lounging. I must bestir myself, it isn’t raining heavily so I will go for a stroll.

soop Sun 01-May-22 12:53:52

Greetings dear you lovely lot on the first day of May.

Dogsmakemesmile If baking/blitzing the house/walking your dear dog and having five books on the go is your idea of ambling...hmm

Blossoming there is something magical about railway museums and the engines of yesteryear.

mrshat and brook, Torben is a lovely boy both on the inside and out. We would love to be able to travel to London to see him. Patience is a virtue. smile

Jax Congrats to Trump. It was a most exciting match. I would like him to lift the trophy. We shall see.

Jaxjacky Sun 01-May-22 12:45:59

Afternoon everyone, I was going into the garden to finish jobs when it started racing, hallelujah, that was about 10 and still going. So I watched Gardeners World instead, am now staring at yesterdays crossword. Hope your first day of May is going well.

Dogsmakemesmile Sat 30-Apr-22 20:07:30

Evening kitcheners. Everyone seems so busy! I seem to be ambling through the days. DH on call so we don't do much as he needs to be near the house.
Walked ddog a few times today. He and I are getting back in step after those months of being unable to walk him. He is such an accommodating boy.
Rain now but very welcome for the flowers. Have about five books on the go and charging through them. Baking and blitzing tomorrow. Strangely the house was cleaner and tidier when the children lived here...

mrshat Sat 30-Apr-22 20:03:37

Goodness soop - how has Torben grown up so quickly! Still a lovely looking young man. Be proud flowers

Blossoming Sat 30-Apr-22 19:25:07

Good evening dear Kitcheners. Glad your son is doing OK Shazza. Exciting times ahead SueDonim you have researched and planned very thoroughly. Have a lovely hols HrandMarie.

Today has been another lovely day, my walk was much shorter today, but took just as long! I kept stopping to look at wildflowers and take a few photos, including this one of a train from the nearby railway museum. This is within easy walking distance of our house, I think your DS would love it GrannyDinosaur! Yes, they really do pass that close but there are strong fences in between and it’s only high days and holidays. Not everyone’s cup of tea but we like it.

All this fresh air is making me sleepy! I may pop back later.

Jaxjacky Sat 30-Apr-22 19:09:34

Good news Shazza hope he got his McDonalds too.
I wanted Trump soop what a contest though I watched earlier, then caught the last frame. Lovely photo, our grandson, at 9 really dislikes having his picture taken and pulls a face or hides.
A busy gardening day, filling hanging baskets, pots, window boxes and weeding, I’m pooped, I’m sure covid plays it’s part even two weeks later.
I’ve left MrJ in the local watching football, after my two shandies I’m having a glass of wine, dinner is prepped.
Enjoy your evening all x

brook2704 Sat 30-Apr-22 19:06:07

Awww what a lovely photo of Torben Soop! Thanks for sharing
It’s been a gorgeous sunny day in Cambridge and we’ve all been out to Anglesey Abbey - I thought of you there last week cornergran! Now DD1 and SiL have gone out I’m watching a film with the DGSs - hopefully bath and bed soon as they’re happily exhausted after running round all day
I hope the house move goes well SueDonim I think Perthshire is a lovely place to live and the right decision especially as it’s so close to your DD. A brand new home too - what could be better!
I expect grannmarie is in sunny Ibiza now enjoying a very well deserved holiday
I’m pleased all went well with your DSs operation Shazza and hope his job is ok too
Wishing everyone a lovely Saturday evening

soop Sat 30-Apr-22 17:20:16

Bless you all for your kind comments.

The snooker is quite extraordinary right now. I would like Mark Williams to go through to the final. Time will tell.

Love to you all. I shall return tomorrow. smile moon

ShazzaKanazza Sat 30-Apr-22 16:21:40

Now there are some dimples you could just about fall into.
Soop you must be so proud. What a fine looking young man xx

dustyangel Sat 30-Apr-22 16:12:47

Ooh soop, he’s carrying on the genes in your good looking family.

dustyangel Sat 30-Apr-22 16:10:21

Thank you SueDonim that’s really kind of you to send the link.
I had got completely sidetracked with messaging DD2 and then having long distance lessons on WhatsApp and Google maps.

Your move sounds well thought out and living in a one bedroom flat will make the new house feel enormous.

I think so many places have changed enormously in the last few years. When I consider going back to England, I have to remember that even more changes have happened since the pandemic and that the local facilities that I remember aren’t necessarily there anymore.

Shazza I’m glad your son is on the road to recovery now. sunshine

soop Sat 30-Apr-22 15:56:39

A quickie. Photo of Torben has just arrived. smile

ShazzaKanazza Sat 30-Apr-22 13:37:32

Good afternoon lovely Kitcheners. We are just sitting having a cuppa and a bit of lunch outside before we embark on the garden potter. I do believe DH next to me could be asleep. I’m going to plant some sweet peas and cosmos seeds.
Soop I definately approve of you lolling in front of the snooker you just enjoy it. Is it too early for a glass of wine?

My DS is out of hospital and he and his wife are playing board games because he has to rest for up a couple of days. They have 5 days free because it’s a national holiday there as well. He mostly teaches online now anyway. His private school is having to close because the Chinese government wants all extra curricular private profit making businesses closed. The more well off people are able to better educate their children so they are far ahead of their peers. The government want to level up so all children get the same education. My son said it’s because they are worried they will have no one to sweep the roads, clean the toilets or work the factories in the future. Not sure if that’s just his anger talking.

grannmarie have a fabulous holiday and a safe journey.
SueDonim it’s a good feeling de cluttering to move and starting afresh.

Hubby is awake so I think that’s my cue to move as well
Speak soon hope you have all got the lovely sunshine?

Grandmabatty Sat 30-Apr-22 13:36:32

Suedonim that sounds perfectly lovely. A brand new house with everything new. I've only managed that once and it was so nice that everything was brand new. Perthshire is beautiful too. I think it's one of the loveliest shires in Scotland.

SueDonim Sat 30-Apr-22 13:25:15

Dustyangel this is the type of thing. There are larger versions, which are the ones I bought. Sorry for the giant link.
