For those who saw my post about Saturdays driveathon, my “fellow granny”, SIL’s mum, slipped away just a few hours ago early this morning.
SIL, his Dad and sister were all with her having taken it in turns to snatch what sleep they could over the last 3 days. SIL said it was a peaceful passing, the sun was shining and they all held her and listened to the early morning birdsong .
At peace at last dear lady, dementia is the cruellest disease.?

It seems as busy Kitchrn. I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s news, although as some new is sad sperhaps enjoyed isn’t the right word.

A quiet day here in our little apartment. Urmston was quite bustling really. I sat on the verandah for a while at lunchtime enjoying the sunshine and people watching as commuters and day trippers arrived at the train station opposite. Manchester Oxford Road one way and Liverpool Lime Street t’other. I then surprised Himself by agreeing to a walk. I know he’s right. I need to move more.

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!

I'm just putting my feet up, ( quite literally cos my ankles are swelling a lot these days...), family have all gone home after our roast lamb lunch. Lovely to see them again, DS2 and DS3 and their families, they all had Covid recently, so this was our first get together since their recovery. We saw DS1's family during the week, they were away for the Easter weekend.

We sat out in the sunny garden after lunch and my Dsister1 joined us, she hadn't seen DGS2 since his 2nd birthday in February, so she had to join in the garden games with him! He has relinquished his moon boot, as active as ever again! Nice family time. ?

Dogs, I'm in Lanarkshire, I popped out to Lidl this morning for crusty bread and fresh veg , I wore my mask and I was happy to see that most shoppers and staff were still wearing them. I'm continuing to wear a mask at church also.

Another lovely day here in the south of Hampshire, but gets chilly in the shade.
A big welcome to our new kitcheners, I’ve jiggled the chairs about, plenty of room and a warm return to annesixty and Grannyeggs.
I’ve sown more vegetable seeds today, tomorrow will be the turn of flowers, just Cosmos and Californian poppy for some colour splashes.
MrJ cut thé grass, all the daisies have gone momentarily, so many this year with fewer dandelions.

Good to catch up with all your news. The weather is behaving beautifully. Mr Soop has done a splendid job in the garden. I have continued to paint the pet portrait. So far, so good. And, a certain pussy cat, Sweetie Pie has paid another visit. Talk about a good appetite, "our" cat leaves not a scrap in her dishes.

granny eggs. I so envy you with your visitors. We rarely have any. My father has dementia now so visits from him and my brother came to a halt two years ago. Brother who is his main career is hoping to come some time. My children have both been once in 6 years. It’s us who have to do the visiting and my partner is 81 and really past driving 7 hours to see them. I don’t drive. I would be exhausted after all of your visitors left. I hope you enjoyed your leftovers and there was some nice cake as a reward for your efforts.

It’s been a beautiful sunny day here in Inverness but with a strong cold wind, a bit blowy to sit outside in the garden but it’s been just perfect in the conservatory with a cup of tea and a slice of carrot cake - well it’s Easter after all!

I don’t know for sure about the masks dogsmakemesmile , I think its just down to the individual to wear them when they feel it’s appropriate eg in crowded places etc

Back to school here in Scotland so also back to looking after GD. I think it took us an hour or so to remember the little routines we have but before we knew it it was snack and Twirly Woos time. Lovely weather so we had a lot of time outdoors.
Today we are officially allowed to stop wearing masks. I shall continue to wear mine in shops. I am slightly confused what else we are supposed/not supposed to be doing. And not sure if not supposed means it's illegal or guidance. Perhaps it's irrelevant. Can't find answers on government website. Any tips most welcome. I have been super cautious.

This is only my second visit to your kitchen Soop, but I was passing and drawn in by the smell of coffee the laughter and good chat. All my visitors have gone, 5 were staying and 12 for lunch on Sunday, 10 for dinner on Saturday, great fun but in need of a sit down if I may. Have a few left overs if any one is hungry

We’ve been to the coast and met DS and partner and GS. Sons new partner is lovely and so good with GS she’s a primary school teacher and she knows how to speak to GS who is autistic. The boy has chosen well. She’s the polar opposite of GSs mum. Enjoying the last of the Easter holiday we had fish and chips and now back home finishing with a cuppa and the last of the gluten free cake our neighbour made. I’ll finish with a glass of wine then really got to crack on and get a few pound off. Starting tomorrow I promise??

Having eaten more fattening things than usual yesterday I was very lucky to be rewarded by the sunset when I felt too relaxed to move. Having been pummelled by the physio earlier, I’m feeling pretty much the same today.
