What very saddening news for you Yia it is indeed a nasty disease ?
A housework morning, not my favourite, tomorrow will be better, buying growbags for the greenhouse and bean sticks, just preparing.
Hoping your happily ensconced on Bryher muse and thoroughly enjoy your break.
Nannytopsy if your Irving you must be getting there, my worst chore, I’m grateful MrJ does ours. We were up at 6:15 today as he was back to work after some time off and pricing jobs, a sharp shock it took me an hour or so to fully waken.
Your chicken should be yummy Grandmabatty memories of chilligate long gone.
Dinner is on, not chilli! Have a gentle evening all x

Yiayia4 Mon 25-Apr-22 19:52:26

Thank you all lovely Kitcheners your support means so much.?

Grandmabatty Mon 25-Apr-22 20:17:46

The slow cooker chicken is very moist and tasty. And I made fajitas with one of the breasts, but this time I was extra careful what I did with it!! Thank you all for your commiserations. I will contact someone to look at the oven later on this week. The rug might never recover but I'll keep at it.
Have a nice break Muse. How's your building coming on? Soop good news forMrSoop hopefully. I'm off to tidy the kitchen. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Just popping into the kitchen to say goodnight, I’ve had a good but busy day - I went to the gym for an aerobics class and have been catching up on admin which is my least favourite task ?. I was hoping to get out in the garden but it’s still miserable and cold here so it’s not very welcoming
Sounds like you’re getting on well with your gardening Jax well done
Tomorrow I’m off out for lunch with a good friend so looking forward to that
I think I’ll try chicken in the slow cooker grandmabatty and when I do I’ll probably think of you and your poor rug!

soop Tue 26-Apr-22 12:48:07

Grandmabatty I do believe that we could use a slow cooker. I'm very tempted.

brook We have enjoyed days of unbroken sunshine. I am hoping to send a parcel of it to you. smile
Enjoy time spent with your good friend. There are few more uplifting treats than a heart to heart blether.

Jax It has been several years since I was fully awake at 6:15. You have my respect.

More ironing waiting to be attended to. Portrait of wee terrier will be ready for backing and mounting later this afternoon. I am pleased with the result.

We enjoyed a long walk this morning. Beautiful spring flowers and delightful birdsong. Enjoy your day. I shall return later.

Nannytopsy Tue 26-Apr-22 13:01:35

I’m just waiting for my Covid test to develop - 10 minutes in and it’s still negative ?
We had cancelled this afternoon’s carpet fitters, until the decorator can come in and finish off. So why were they ringing the bell at 8.30 this morning !? A little wheezy cough when I told them had the desired effect and I honestly didn’t do it on purpose!
DH has discovered wonderful silicone pads that you put under each leg of a piece of furniture. Even a heavy chest of drawers pushed along with no trouble so we have been playing with them, shifting furniture around upstairs ? . Very easy to entertain , us two!
Glad your dog portrait has gone well soop - I haven’t heard any rude words drifting southwards!
Hope everyone is having a good day!

dustyangel Tue 26-Apr-22 14:33:20

Fingers crossed for you Nannytopsy, you sound in better spirits so I hope that is a good sign. Those furniture shifting pads have always appealed to me when I’ve seen them advertised, it’s good to know that they actually work.

Yiayia, my condolences to you and your family.?

Blossoming Tue 26-Apr-22 15:09:12

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners, I am so very behind with people’s news! Glad the pet portrait is done Soop and hope MrSoop will have positive new about the cataract op soon. I love my slow cooker Grandmabatty . Hope you’re-ve NannyTopsy.

I’m hoping muse and urms are enjoying their hols.

I’ve had a Zoom meeting this morning and am feeling quite energised by it! Our lovely course leader Jamie was very sympathetic about my recent health issues and had some good tips about easing myself back into being active. I’ve put a couple into practice already smile

^Bellanonna Mon 25-Apr-22 18:12:56
Just a quick aside. Has Greyduster left? I cant imagine she would have another name. Just wondering.^

Thanks for asking this Bellanonna. I've been wondering the same thing for the past week or so and trawling backwards to see if I had missed something. Hopefully someone out there will have the answer wink

ShazzaKanazza Tue 26-Apr-22 15:46:37

Good afternoon lovely kitcheners hope you are all well today.
Nannytopsy it’s good you are negative and feeling ok?
Soop are we going to see your new painting so we can admire your talents. A walk with nature and the sound of birdsong is so good for the soul.

I’ve been visiting my uncle today. Well I say visiting he grants me an hour a fortnight then spends the whole hour complaining. He is in assisted living having special needs. He said I think I’ll come and live with you. I said no you won’t your complaining would drive me to drink? he is very well looked after and wants for nothing. Speaking of needing a drink. Time to have a glass of wine. See this is what he does to me lol.
He still hasn’t found anyone to marry him though he does try.
DH is cooking a smoked haddock risotto tonight so I can kick back and put my feet up.
Have a good evening everyone. Speak soon x

gillgran Tue 26-Apr-22 16:54:09

Pleased that you are happy with your latest portrait, soop. Also hope that Mr.Soop hears positive news on his cataract procedures.
Nannytopsy, fingers crossed for your -negative- result.

I've never had a slow cooker, I would like give it a try sometime. I've got rather lazy/useless with trying anything new.

Safe journey as you visit our lovely county again, Brook.

We are off to NW Norfolk in the next couple of days as we have a gas delivery (of LPG), due at our little "home-from-home" on the "Wash Coast".

Warm thoughts for you all.

Nannytopsy Tue 26-Apr-22 16:55:15

My test had the tiniest, faintest line, so technically still positive. ?
Hopefully tomorrow!

Grandmabatty Tue 26-Apr-22 17:05:35

Fingers crossed Nannytopsy . Lunch with friends today then I nipped into dd with empire biscuits for sil as he does love them. I'm going to have a bowl of celery soup shortly, and a chicken wrap before I go out to see Hello Dolly with other friends. It isn't my favourite musical but it's a night out and it'll support using my local town hall and the group who will perform. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

soop Tue 26-Apr-22 17:51:00

Nannytopsy You are making a good recovery. Keep up the good work. flowers

Grandmabatty Enjoy! smile

I need to pack the wee painting as I shall give it to the lovely lady in our village tomorrow. She is such a hard working and caring person. This is a gift.

Night night for now. I shall join you again tomorrow. Take the best possible care of your dear selves. smile moon

Yiayia4 Tue 26-Apr-22 18:00:44

Blossoming Tue 26-Apr-22 18:04:17

Lovely painting Soop.

brook2704 Tue 26-Apr-22 18:21:22

What a lovely painting soop I’m sure your friend will be delighted with it ?
I’ve had a lovely long leisurely lunch out with my friend and now I’m home and collapsed on the sofa. It’s a good job I got my packing done earlier for my trip to DD1 tomorrow
I hope you enjoy your evening out grandmabatty
A sad time Yia thinking of you and your family ?
Fingers crossed for a negative result tomorrow nannytopsy
Safe journey to your home away from home Gillgran and enjoy your time away

Charleygirl5 Tue 26-Apr-22 18:55:37

soop that is really good news and the weeks will whiz by. Very soon the pair of you will be able to have a few days away, one who can actually see and the other can sit down comfortably now. Not a lot to ask.

As always that is a lovely pet portrait.

The sun has shone here all day but it has been perishingly cold. I believe May is just around the corner.
TOYA

Jaxjacky Tue 26-Apr-22 19:26:23

Hi all, a joyous picture soop I wouldn’t be without my slow cookers, I have one that does the two of us and a larger one for visitors or bulk cooking. I’ve been using one for over 40 years, very cheap to run, whole chicken, gammon, pork for pulled, easy too.
Gadding about Grandmabatty lovely to hear and brook enjoy your trip. Onwards Blossoming and up!
You’ll be -ve tomorrow Topsy
That breeze today has been cutting, but it’s only April, I’ve been to the garden centre, pruned my friends geraniums then had a bit of a slump, post covid catches you now and again, back ok now. Your pain will ease Yia, slowly.
We have TV to catch up with as football has ruled, we both enjoy it, just have to have a blitz.
Enjoy your evening all ?Shazza

Grandmabatty Tue 26-Apr-22 22:38:00

That's a lovely painting Soop. You've really captured his/her character. I'm just in from Hello Dolly and it was marvellous. Some excellent singing and acting. A really clever set and beautiful costumes. It was like being back to normal. I'm off to bed now as I have an early hair appointment. See you tomorrow kitcheners.

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 27-Apr-22 09:23:45

Very sorry Yia. Keep posting here for support. There is no where better.
Had a couple of days away as looking after DG2. Lots of fun. Much cooler here but dry. Not working til next week so viewing it as a holiday. Going to read lots and do some messing around in the garden.
Have made lunch and tea. Might tackle some baking. My best wishes to all of you especially those for whom the days are difficult.

Grandmabatty Wed 27-Apr-22 14:35:31

A nearly finished dinosaur better known as a Dimetredon. I've hidden a volcano in the background as dgs1 likes them too! A train in the background would have made his wee world complete but sadly would have been anachronistic. I'm just home from art class and going to put the kettle on if anyone wants a cuppa.

brook2704 Wed 27-Apr-22 14:47:33

Wow grandmabatty that’s brilliant!!! Well done you ?? I’m sure your DGS will love it ?
I’ll join you in that cuppa if I may with a bit of shortbread on the side

Bellanonna Wed 27-Apr-22 14:57:38

He’s a handsome fellow Gb. Our two grandsons should get together and chat about dinosaurs. My GS has a lot of knowledge about all the different species, their eating habits and how they lived. Most of his invented games involve one species or another. I bet yours will love the painting!

brook2704 Wed 27-Apr-22 15:07:50

I’m almost at my DD1s house in Cambridge after a quick and easy journey
I just thought I’d share this photo of the Kessock Bridge at Inverness taken on the flight this morning- I always like a window seat!
