I would campaign for a Like button on GN. It would make it much more interesting.

Plus banning those who think that only their posts are of any significance. It’s the complete mix of ideas, thoughts and feelings that make GN interesting.

Hilarious. Who decides that ?!

Having read some of the truly awful comments on the Women’s Lub thread I think GransNet is not best placed as a campaigning organisation.

Thanks Millie

CraftyGranny grin you certainly do!

Sounds lovely and relaxed. I'm in my loungewear.

I like some labels. The ones that you can use to hang on hooks if a garment has only been worn for an hour or two.

I agree about labels. I’m really sensitive to things like that. And if you cut them out it makes it worse.

Still selling some men's shirts with ridiculous wrappings of plastic, cardboard, pins, etc. Why not just sell them on hangers like ladies blouses are.
In fact, banning all unnecessary wrappings.

One has to fillet a shirt!

Hmm quite trivial really but then we have had nonsense about how a wrap is prepared and pages of whether people wear pj's all day.

I’m currently in my (very nice) pyjamas.
I’m shortly going to have a bath and might put on another pair of (even nicer) pyjamas.
Either that, or a lovely loose dress and comfy trainers …

Scratchy labels for me too. I have to unpick them!

I’d campaign for the Home Office to pull their bloody finger out.

Absolutely.

Sorry but I can’t imagine “campaigning” about size labels…..

I think a continued campaign for reduced packaging & a push for even more use of recyclable materials..fed up with 'not yet recycled' on packets of things that I cannot by as refillable locally.. e.g. rice, pasta

VioletSky Thu 07-Apr-22 11:09:30

Oh my goodness plastic would be a must for me. I'm tired of opening things with a window and finding blank space elsewhere. Or the extra plastic to give bottles hollow bottoms to look like they have more product...

It's all ridiculous and unnecessary.

Plastic is something we could all agree on

Sorry, but I don't come here to start or join campaigns. GN is for my downtime when my activist switches are firmly in the Off position.
Good luck to those who participate but I shall be skipping over those topics.

I would want to campaign for issues such as the erosion of the rights of women, which I feel strongly about.

Blossoming Thu 07-Apr-22 10:38:23

I hate those scratchy labels too Granny23, much better if they’re sewn into the side seam. I also hate it when they’re sewn in with white thread on a dark coloured garment.

Sorry, but I don’t understand?
What about ‘labels on the back neck of garments’?
And I’ve spent as much time as the next person on here, and never once seen them mentioned prior to this!
Apologies if I’m missing something, it won’t be the first time smile

I've been thinking for a long time that the Gransnet membership is an untapped resource, full of articulate and active people, with experience and contacts in all spheres. who could be mobilised to e.g. lobby contacts, write letters. and 'actually make a difference' to the lives of older people.

Obviously, we would have to steer clear of emotive or political issues or topics where the membership is clearly split 50/50, which leads me to consider what we are all agreed on. Which in turn leads me to my suggestion of a suitable target for a first try

= LABELS ON THE BACK NECK OF GARMENTS.
This may seem trivial, bu I think has been the most recurring complaint on Gransnet since its inception.

What do you think of this idea?? If you think it would work, what would you like us to campaign for/against?
