Dancing...

The thread on weddings got me thinking of dancing. I love to dance but hardly get the chance anymore!

Do you like to dance, and any particular style? Love dancing to disco and rock/pop music. No style at all, but we can fake a waltz.
When is the last time you danced? In the kitchen with DH, even the dog joined in for some fun. I will dance by myself, taking a break from housecleaning if a good song comes on.
Previously we had a school reunion for DH in 2019 where we danced all night to 70's music.
Are you first up on the dancefloor, or do you like to sit and watch and get dragged up reluctantly? I'm up first, much to DH's chagrin; he likes a bit of liquid courage to loosen up!
Do you think you are a good dancer? I have no style at all, but we have had people say they love to watch us dance, we dance well together and have fun. Cannot jive or samba although I love Latin music.

I am a terrible dancer but I love dance, love the ballet, think tap is fantastic too.

I love ballroom and think I'm reasonable. Pretty hopeless at jive stuff but I do have a sense of rhythm which helps me to simply gyrate to the music like most of the younger ones. Lovely way to exercise without effort!

Nope, I'm far too introverted and self-conscious. I always feel like I'm making a total show of myself and everyone is laughing at me.

I’ve always had a problem with my brain connecting with my feet. I think I can dance till I stand up. I love watching this couple dance…

I do love to dance, recently asked Alexa to play sixties music, wow what a selection. Spent hours dancing around the kitchen with and without Orlin, he went off in a sulk when Shake Shake Senora came on and I recalled a night out with friends to celebrate A level results, a line of us where doing the limbo and one of the chaps drank champagne from my shoe, oops, it wasn’t Orlin.

LauraNorderr Fri 15-Apr-22 19:10:58

Love to watch traditional ballet, not really in to ballroom although learned to waltz and to do the polka at school. Watch Strictly and used to enjoy Vincent and Flavia doing the Argentine Tango, wouldn’t attempt it with Orlin, bruised legs not attractive.

In answer to CanadianGran's questions, in order...

Yes, but if I tell you which style it's too outing and you wouldn't believe me grin

Monday evening.

You can't keep me down. Up on the floor - or the stage - at the drop of a hat.

Good enough. Dance like nobody's watching, I can recommend it!!

I love to dance, last time was Wednesday as my exercise for the day.
No style. Love to watch all kinds of dancing too apart from ballroom.

I think ballet is beautiful. Also happy to learn any set, formal type dances.

I hate the throwing yourself around the floor type dancing. I always feel totally self conscious.

tickingbird Fri 15-Apr-22 19:48:50

I adore dancing, and would have loved to have been a dancer. Still do like to get up and dance.

Vintagejazz Fri 15-Apr-22 20:07:25

Oh and a special plea to those who like dragging reluctant dancers onto the floor.
STOP IT. You are the reason many of us dread parties.

MerylStreep Fri 15-Apr-22 20:08:36

LauraNorder
If you like ballet have you seen Mao’s Last Dancer? It’s on Netflix. Beautiful film.

I LOVE to dance and I am RUBBISH at it smile

JaneJudge Fri 15-Apr-22 20:10:47

I am the first woman on the dancefloor at the caravan park with a small child that everyone makes fun of smile

I love dancing.
My daughter put a video up on FB of the 2 of us dancing to this.

LauraNorderr Fri 15-Apr-22 20:17:45

Thank you MerylStreep, I’ll definitely be watching that.

LauraNorderr Fri 15-Apr-22 20:19:41

Gay Gordons Volver? Is that too stereotypical?

volver Fri 15-Apr-22 20:22:36

grin

trisher Fri 15-Apr-22 20:28:05

Love dancing. Think it's great that there are now classes for over 55s and groups of older people dancing. I'm useless at it and can't remember stuff but it's stil great.

MissAdventure Fri 15-Apr-22 21:02:23

I love music and to watch dancing, but I'm too self conscious to even have a little shuffle around my flat on my own. sad
I really feel I've missed out.

Jaxjacky Fri 15-Apr-22 21:13:52

Love it, 80’s my favourite, last time in earnest was in my local, early March 2920, nothing remotely classical, not quite first up, but not long after

Joseanne Fri 15-Apr-22 21:34:20

I'm a lover of dance, was RAD classically trained as a youngster then added in modern, jazz, tap, character etc. We used to trawl national competitions and I have a box of nearly 100 medals including All England finals. Favourite dances to get me going would be anything from Dirty Dancing or ABBA. My god daughter was in 42nd St. and taught me a tap routine from the show. Giselle is my favourite ballet.
However, I'm not one of the first on the dance floor.
