IRRITATING ADS

Do any of you have ads that really drive you mad? My 2 are the detergent ad where they sing "Where is the sun?" None of them can hold a tune, and the song is banal, and the other ad is that rip off of the Beyonce song "If I were a boy". That kid murders it by singing "If I were a toy", and he mangles the song too. Do any other grans have ads they utterly hate?

The Verisure ones - so amateurish. A recent one that is like a period piece, and refers to menstruation. The life insurance/funeral plan ones.

One of THE most irritating ads around at the moment has to be the one for 'Omaze' win a house or some such rubbish. That woman's incredibly irritating and false voice-over is the TV equivalent of fingernails down a blackboard. There's also the one on Classic FM for cruises (can't tell you which advertiser as I mentally switch off when it comes on!) which sounds as if it could be voiced by Helen George (Trixie in Call the Midwife) trying to be even more of a hoity-toity Trixie than ever before!

The Lindt chocolate ad where she just nibbles at it. I yell at the TV that she should stuff it in her mouth whole. Don’t get me started on the patronising voice of CareCo ads. I am not convinced that the actors are really in need of mobility scooters etc.

And if you win the £3 million pound house in the Lake District, where do you find the money for upkeep?

I hate all adverts. I very rarely watch commercial channels unless I can fast forward the adds .I have been known not to buy a product because I don't like the advert for it.

The funeral payplan advert where they are getting food ready in the kitchen. The wife says 'They're here' after a doorbell and dashes off, he follows almost immediately- but everyone is already in the living room...did they transport en masse? Mine would still be half in half out, handing over flowers, coats etc!

The Ikea adverts are terrible. Cannot bear the music!

All of them - because they unfailingly feature a mixed race family with a white woman and black man and indeterminate children.

That's a weird one to have a problem about, isn't it? What's wrong with mixed race?

The Graze one with the stupid talking squirrel.
Wren kitchen with the dancing couple.
Can’t bear to look at the On the Beach boy.
I’m another who can’t stand the Daisy ad.

However…..the AA dog always makes me smile.

I'd say because it's part of their woke agenda which is always annoying.

i hate most adverts but the one that i love is the turtle skating, i had to look up the music on youtube.

pat222 Wed 20-Apr-22 17:31:44

The ear wax advert, they always show it at meal times, it makes me feel so sick, whoever has that much ear wax would need more than that product could solve, I think they would need an operation and not with a local anaesthetic.

Bellanonna Wed 20-Apr-22 17:32:57

As soon as they come on I mute them. If OH has the remote and I hear that horrible one with adults talking like children I scream at him to mute it. Absolutely hate that ad.

Bellanonna Wed 20-Apr-22 17:33:45

pat222^. Yuk that sounds revolting

Cancer Research UK and McDonalds. Awful.

The M&Ms ad where a woman's in bed with an M&M and the other M&M pops out and says " Scott's home early". Creepy beyond words.
The duracell one ( maybe not on now), where the family are watching TV and filming of animals mating comes on. They scrabble about for the remote to put it off in a panic when the remote doesn't seem to work. The advert was showing that if you have duracell batteries in the remote they will last longer, but the message looked to be that anything about sex is taboo and children shouldn't see it! It was on around teatime, so it is telling children parents find sex embarrassing and even animals mating shouldn't be watched or discussed under any circumstances. I actually complained to them about it ( as a former biology/maths teacher).

I agree. It's the woke agenda that is so annoying and contrived.
I'm another one can't stand bloomin' Daisy, Daisy etc but the worst ads to my way of thinking are the bank ads where they purport to be our friends and look after us . Hell's teeth they are closing all the branches so it is impossible to get in to see someone face to face and when you phone up there are so many options to press that you lose the will to live.

Bluecat Wed 20-Apr-22 18:31:05

Showing mixed race families on adverts is part of a woke agenda?... It couldn't reflect the fact that lots of people actually belong to mixed families? Me, for a start.

As for annoying ads, Daisy, Daisy, Daisy is so incredibly irritating.

Dinahmo Wed 20-Apr-22 18:38:11

Practically all of them. At least it's an opportunity to make a cup of tea or disappear to the bathroom or pour another glass. When watching Netflix I have to pause or with the BBC take a chance and hope that my DH can fill me in.

Grandmama Wed 20-Apr-22 18:43:09

Daisy, daisy daisy.

and

The woman who screams hysterically 'No nappies' - and then round comes the home delivery chap with a bag of nappies.

Esmay Wed 20-Apr-22 18:44:36

Where to start -funeral plans .
Sometimes they are back to back -depressing for my poor bed ridden father .

Products endorsed by Eamoinn Holmes and Carol Vorderman and those hard sell Dormeo Octosmart ads that go on and on and on ...

homefarm Wed 20-Apr-22 18:57:07

Practically all of them. They are obviously not trying to sell their goods to me, all appear to be aimed at multi racial families and weirdos.

MissAdventure Wed 20-Apr-22 18:59:05

The thing is, though, everyone can remember the irritating ads.
Job done!

Keekaboo Wed 20-Apr-22 19:12:01

Oh my goodness there are lots of adverts that really irritate me for instance the Nationwide one with interminably boring monologue. What is the blooming point of it. It would put me off banking with Nationwide. Thank goodness for the mute button!

Jaxie Wed 20-Apr-22 19:15:08

The one with the Italian woman with the donkey on her back. Looks as if it’s sha—ing her. The Listerine ad with the Scottish donkey. The people who are eating burgers which appear to give them orgasms. The burglar alarm one where a dumb sounding woman tells her neighbour how easy it is to get one fitted. The ads for boxes of fresh ingredients delivered to your door with recipes. Incontinence ads showing leaky ladies in their knickers.
