What is your reaction to women when they “man bash?”

A relative of mine joined in a conversation at work only to be told by a young woman 'You are a white, heterosexual male. No one cares what you think'.

What’s worse is when women “woman bash”.

Some people can only feel better about themselves by putting others down.

It depends how it's done.
It can be quite amusing, until someone pops up to say otherwise.

Not too bothered men have been women bashing for ever
But like everything if it’s overdone it’s boring

I like men. My dad was one and I married one.

I think so much of the 'man bashing' is done to form a bond with other women. It's often clichéd, always predictable. Hopefully the days of the mother in law jokes are long gone and the men can't multi task etc will also disappear.

Oh it’s just a bit of fun, I like men, but I’m not above having a bit of a laugh at their expense.

Happens on GN regularly by some posters who constantly comment negatively about their OH, they occasionally say something like ‘he’s not that bad really’. I don’t like seeing anyone demeaned, it makes me feel sad for the person bearing the brunt of of it. If a man posted such comments about his partner on here, the hordes would descend.

God forbid a male should ever try that in here!
Men do the same, though, and they can be side splitting funny with it.
I don't find it demeaning either way.

Veganrock, that’s why there is so much intolerance in the world. Every person has value, why is woman bashing worse? is it, because you are one, how do you think you got here? There is just a lot of bitter women that can’t stand men and you have to ask why, is it because no man’s been interested in them? Perhaps threatened by them? Or just because they are not like.
It is very narrow minded to think one sex superior and shows a closed mind.

I was going to hospital for a few problems years ago waiting ages to be seen each time. Women of all ages sat and told each other why they where there. It was like a competition who could slag men off the most. Men were the only reason why they suffered with gynaecological problems.
My dad cared for my mum when she had problems. My husband was marvellous with me and couldn't have been more supportive.
I think it's easy for some to jump on the band wagon when it comes people bashing.

Crikey I havent heard the no man is interested in them trope for a while.

It's bound to happen when we have so many differences. And it's good to have a moan sometimes.
In the early feminist years I kept quiet because I know we are created to be more resilient.
But leave that to those on the sexual equality threads {wink}

Some of the comments on the threads about husbands make me really laugh.
I'd be the same if it was men complaining about women; I'm all for equality.

A member posted that she was in the kitchen having a heart attack, and her husband was dozing in front of the TV and couldn't hear her.

They are boring, just like men who go on about women's failings. Don't waste time listening to them.

IMO the more extreme ones do it because they’ve experienced only abusive/lazy/useless/misogynistic boyfriends/ husbands/fathers, but it does irritate me when they lump all men together.
But at the same time, I do feel sorry for anyone who’s only had that sort of experience.

Like negativity around any demographic it could be construed as a prejudicial, although it depends on the context. There are behaviours of course, particularly of late that put men in a very bad light sexual abuse, grooming, mass rape in war torn countries, as a woman one can't help being horrified by some of the awful things that befall women, but that is not men per se, just a minority. . In many parts of the world life hasn't improved for women who live under the strictures of a patriarchal society. In worst case scenarios such as Afghanistan women and girls have the most awful lives controlled by absolutely the vilest of men.

Having said all that I don't like to hear women slag off men as if they are all some sub species it isn't fair, I think we all know how our hackles rise when it's done the other way, even if we, as women, have had to put up with that, probably since the beginning of time.

I don't know what I would do without my 'other half'.
We are different but complementary.

I don't like it.
I didn't like it when I was married and I don't like it now I am divorced.
I have a group of friends who did it all the time; now two are
widowed and three are divorced; two divorcees and one widow loved their husbands and were devastated by the end of their marriages.
Of the two still married one complains bitterly about her husband who never does anything right, and the other never stops talking about what a wonderful time she has with her husband, everything is such fun. We suspect things are not as good as she says.
Neither is aware of how tactless they are (or at least I think they don't.)
