Good morning and happy St. George’s day from adult E Kent, with a chilly breeze blowing. It is very often breezy in this corner of the country.
We waved goodbye to the family at lunchtime yesterday. Sad, but we had a lovely time with them, and DD is coming again after May bank holiday.
We still haven’t had that phone call from the palliative care consultant. It’s rather annoying, hanging around waiting for it. This has been going on since Tuesday.
DGS announced himself to visit and dine yesterday afternoon. He horrified his granddad by having his ear pierced. DH hates piercings marginally less than tattoos! ?
Nothing planned for today. A friend is probably coming round to see me, which will be nice.
Bon voyage Urms, I’m rather jealous…
May today be gentle to you, especially Marydoll and the poorly. Carpe diem/horam ?????????

Good morning from an overcast Torbay. An adult E. Kent sounds like a lot more fun, grandMattie! We share your DH’s opinion of piercings and tattoos, particularly the latter on young women.

Today, we hope to make our first visit of the year to Whiddon Down to open up my holiday home. Other commitments prevent us staying overnight unfortunately but at least we can give it an airing. It’s only 35 miles on good roads: A380, A38 and A30, although I’m aware that this is the end of the Easter holiday in some areas.

Wishing you all something to lift your spirits this weekend, especially those with worries about the health of loved ones. ??????

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is promised to be a dry day.
Up early as I am off on one of my litter picks. I am getting funded to set up a proper group to clear the river banks on a regular basis?
Your day sounds rather exciting Mick a beer would go down well today I think I may copy you!!
Tomorrow I am cycling to DD to pick up the children in my cycle trailer and take them in an adventure, I will then cycle home. Let’s hope it stays dry?
Have a good day folks and here’s hoping that phone call happens today Grandmattie ❤️❤️

Happy St George’s Day to all us English grans!

grandMattie Sat 23-Apr-22 06:46:00

Ash, certainly more interesting than “a dull”…

Morning Mick, morning All from a bright corner of Cambridge

Trundling home today after a few days here. A little holiday and an essential trip into Norfolk to spend a day with my friend of almost 70 years and her daughter who is our goddaughter. Been very lucky with the weather, warm sunshine until yesterday when a cold wind got us back into coats. We’ll be sad to leave for several reasons, we lived in East Anglia in the early days of our marriage and it holds a little piece of our hearts.

I’ll catch up properly with everyone once we’re back home, not looking forward to the journey but it will pass.

Take care everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Gagagran Sat 23-Apr-22 06:53:17

Good Morning everyone from a grey cloud filled sky here on the south coast. 10.6c and still breezy.

Had a good day yesterday doing pottering jobs including admin and also planted up a giant pot with nasturtium seeds for some easy colour. The tulips in the other pots are still going on and will be transferred to the front garden in due course and I plan to replace them in the pots with red pelargoniums.

DS turned up for food as planned, after his motorbike training day and it was so good to have time with him and hear all his news. He gives the best hugs!

We are off to get the click and collect shortly and DH is out with his bike club again this morning leading a ride into the South Downs. I shall indulge myself with the Saturday paper, croissant and coffee.

Safe travels Urms and anyone else on the move today. Hope the holiday home is in good shape Ash! Continued good wishes to all caring for unwell loved ones, especially GM flowers

Good morning from a cloudy S Hants, Happy St George’s Day.
How very annoying waiting for that call grandMattie hopefully today.
Safe and speedy journey to Malaga Urmstongran hopefully it’s warmed up there.
Saturday is newspaper day, greenhouse faffing and a walk.
Thoughts with those poorly.
Enjoy your Saturday ??

Urmstongran Sat 23-Apr-22 07:01:15

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s a gorgeous start to the day. Having said that I don’t much care as “orft we jolly well go” later ✈️

I need to sort my handbag is all with makeup in a clear zip bag, Kindle, passports etc. I have a mini list so I can’t forget anything and then I’m good to go.

Himself has offered to drive my stepfather to some far flung health centre in Old Trafford this morning, where he’s been offered his 4th booster jag. My stepfather asked whether there was anything nearer home but ‘no can do’ was the answer. At least the appointment is 11am so there’s enough time for Himself to get home for our booked taxi to the airport!
?

Enjoy Saturday all who can. grandMattie I’d ring the consultant’s secretary on Monday afternoon if you haven’t heard anything, it’s what she’s there for. x

Beechnut Sat 23-Apr-22 07:14:39

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s dry and grey. I don’t mind grey as a colour except when it’s the sky.

I’m staying close to the house until my parcel is delivered and then I hope it’s warmed up enough to go into the garden. I have a few jobs to get on with. The new work to my shed is coming on a treat.

I’m glad you both enjoyed your family visit Mattie.
There sounds to be some fun things going on today so enjoy them and have a happy day all ??????????

Good morning from a drizzly and cloudy Black Country.

Had a lovely day yesterday with DGD's (13 and 10 - soon to be 11 as she reminds me!) Went to Bridgnorth, and parked in Low town and took the Cliff railway to High Town. Lunch then cinema. Fantastic Beasts - The Secrets of Dumbledore, not my kind of film, but they enjoyed it. Came out to glorious sunshine. Then home to go out to see a Foo Fighters tribute band, good but loud!

This morning I am off to Birmingham on the train with my u3a Canal group. Its all go, but nothing planned for tomorrow, phew!

Have a good trip Urmston, we were last in Malaga in 2018 and wanting to go soon, but it won't be this year as we have booked Portugal in September, but definitely next year (hopefully)

Enjoy your Saturday everyone, with special thoughts of our missing posters, and all struggling with ill-health and worries for family

snowberryZ Sat 23-Apr-22 07:23:05

Happy St George's Day!
I think most of the country is having an overcast start.
Let's hope it brightens up soon.

BlueSapphire Sat 23-Apr-22 07:24:58

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton. Feeling better after my haircut and colour yesterday. Hopefully we'll get a few sunny spells later on, which will be nice as I plan to cut the grass today.

Younger DGD (11) is being dropped off late morning, and big sister (14) will arrive this afternoon after her dance classes. They are staying overnight, as DD-out-law is off to a spa day in London to celebrate a friend's big birthday, and DS is working nights. They have requested roast chicken for dinner; I have also got chocolate fudge cake and ice-cream for dessert. Must make up their beds this morning. Be nice to have company for the day.

Hoping things go well for all today. Happy St George's Day!

Grandmabatty Sat 23-Apr-22 07:27:59

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and sunny, although I see clouds too. Yesterday was a pottering day and today looks similar. Washing the bedding, weeding, hoovering, cleaning bathroom and other tiring verbs. Have a good day all.

Sar53 Sat 23-Apr-22 07:29:53

Good morning from a grey and overcast day in Essex by the sea.
Some last minute holiday shopping first thing then some food shopping later.
No plans this afternoon but a Chinese takeaway tonight.
Enjoy Saturday whatever you may be doing xx

GrannyGravy13 Sat 23-Apr-22 07:36:41

Morning Mick and all. Happy St. George’s Day ?????????????????????

Safe journey Urmstongran (my friend posted some beautiful photos from your part of Espana yesterday, glorious weather)

Sar53 I have no idea where this month has gone, cannot see us having a coffee before you are off.

It’s grey here also, but it’s trying to brighten up. Off to the local butchers and then back home on the sofa with my book, The Imp wore us out yesterday ???

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️

Marydoll Sat 23-Apr-22 07:36:45

Good morning all from a glorious Glasgow.

Glad to hear you a lovely day with the family GM, that must have given you a boost. My GP will arrange to phone, can't give a time and then phones at 7pm. They must think, if we are unwell, we won't be going anywhere, so no need for a specific time.

Not surprisingly, I have nothing much to report. Yesterday, I tried to report my anti viral reaction to the Yellow card site, but my account ( yes, I have an account, folks, so many reactions) had been deactivated and it wouldn't let me reactivate it.
Talk about efficient, it was reactivated as soon as I contacted them by email! It retains your past reports, in case you need to access them for your clinicians.
Efficiency like that is not exactly common these days.

I was also trying to research, for how much longer, I was going to feel nauseous. I can find lots about the medication side effects, but nothing about how long they last.

Wishing you all, a lovely day. A bit of sunshine does lift your spirits. ☹
I guess you are flying away again Urms, safe journey.

Marydoll Sat 23-Apr-22 07:38:27

I forgot to wish all our English grans, a happy St George's Day.

brook2704 Sat 23-Apr-22 07:39:47

Good morning everyone from a cloudy, grey and misty Inverness but hoping it improves later.
Safe journey on your travels Urms and enjoy your time away
Today we’re off to meet DD2 and DGS at the crazy golf in town as DGS loves going around it. We’ll then get lunch out somewhere. DGD and SiL have both got covid so they’ll be staying in.
Hoping you feel much better soon Marydoll and you can get out and about a bit
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

monk08 Sat 23-Apr-22 07:46:36

Good morning all from a cold and windy Black country.
Nothing planned today should be a quiet one they've closed the main road for resurfacing so they won't be using our road as a cut through to avoid the lights.
Tablet needs charging and full English calling so will catch up later.
Safe journey for those travelling, best wishes to anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day and may you all find some ?.

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 23-Apr-22 07:50:13

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 23-Apr-22 07:59:57

My phone is a bit fickle and keeps posting before I’m finished! Sad to see your family go GrandMattie but it seems to have done you all good to have had them there!
Marydoll hope you feel better soon.
We are off to Llandudno today for a week. It usually quite a busy week meeting up with Pantglas Then my sisters join us and we have some other friends we try to meet up with
Have a safe journey Urmston
Have the best day possible folks

Grammaretto Sat 23-Apr-22 08:01:16

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders. Chilly start again but yesterday turned out lovely and I did some gardening.
A bit more work was done on my kitchen though I am trying not to get excited. it's been ongoing since the middle of last year
The gas man was due to come at 7.30am to connect the cooker but I think these people's clocks are different from mine. Hey ho.
Happy travels all who are journeying today.
I hope the nausea stops soon Marydoll . That sounds hellish.
I'm about to pick flowers for the tables at the community cafe today. A job I love.

ShazzaKanazza Sat 23-Apr-22 08:05:36

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a cloudy and chilly Hull.
Happy St George’s Day ???????
Enjoy that beer Mick.
granMattie?

Today we have our DD coming over with DGDs this morning. She sent a video of baby B giving big smiles. I’ll put a buffet out for lunch. DS is picking up GS and they will come over as well it’s our usual Saturday.
Tonight we are going for a meal with our friends as it’s his birthday.

Enjoy your day of family visits, lovely walks and all other manner of activities and safe journey Urmstongran.
Best wishes to you all??
