White rabbits ?
Good morning from a dull E Kent. We are supposed to have showers this afternoon - I’m not holding my breath…. It wasn’t possible to see the planetary conjunction before dawn as it was too cloudy and we are too low. Shame.
Quiet day. I did have my nap, about an hour while DH watched the women’s rugby game. Th3 sun cam3 out late and I was peeling layers off, although it was still very chilly outside in the breeze.
Early service for me, newspaper and milk at the same time. DD is in London with the family, so won’t be taking part in the streamed service. I doubt DH will watch it in her absence.
Enjoy your holidays and the generally good weather. I hope you find some small thing to gladden your heats today. Carpe diem/horam. ?????☀️☀️

Pinch, punch, first of the month. Morning all from West Oxfordshire. We had a lovely day in Kew yesterday. Our granddaughter loved the presents we had bought her. We spent a couple of hours in Kew Gardens where it was absolutely packed. I am probably going to a local church this morning. Our main meal will be this evening. I think I am cooking what we are calling two budgies. Two poissons were substituted in my Waitrose order for a Guinea fowl! ???for lots of you.

Ashcombe Sun 01-May-22 06:41:50

Good morning all from a drizzly Crewe! Typical for a Bank Holiday w/e! I hope it stays dry in your corner, Mick, where it sounds as if the May Day celebration is already beginning! Brilliant!

Thank you for such warm and generous comments yesterday about DGD and her success at ballet. I really appreciate being able to share my pride and happiness with folk who respond so warmly.

I hope Sar53 has an easy crossing and safe onward travels down to Carcassonne. (I was interested to hear of your DGD's ballet success, also Taichinan’s DGD1 passing an audition for dance. Wow!) Likewise, monk08, now incommunicado in Portugal. No doubt it’s hot, confirmed by Pittcity already there, as it is in Malaga for Urmstongran.

How was Kew, Leftfieldlover? A beautiful time of year to visit! And seeing your DGS turn one is special, ginny, after a shaky start in life. I hope the wedding (and your reading) went well, GrannySomerset.

I hope those with pain or poorly partners find some improvement today, especially Grandmabatty and Mr.grandMattie. No plans here apart from a phone call from DH, who sent me a recording of the nightingale in his garden. My DGS2 speculated that it might have been named after Florence, which made me smile!

Every blessing. ??????

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 01-May-22 06:50:33

Kew Gardens were beautiful as usual. We are very lucky that son and his family live five minutes walk away. They are members so can take guests in with them for free. They have the best shop too!

Ashcombe Sun 01-May-22 06:58:47

Sorry, I missed Lady off your name, Ladyleftfieldlover! No sleight intended! Glad Kew Gardens delivered! ??????

Good morning all and Happy Mayday to you.
Paw always used to give me a sprig of muguet on Mayday (French upbringing) so it’s bringing back memories. Mokryna
Gosh, 6 am is a bit early for the Morris Dancers to be in action and a pub to be up and serving, Mick the neighbours can’t be too happy, especially on a Sunday.
We have Maypole dancing in the village every year by the children of the village school - but “postponed “ to the BH Monday. Tradition decrees that however nice the weather has been it is always cold - and often wet- I remember our two dancing on bravely with blue hands and legs.
Now, I’m thinking you meant poussins Ladyleftfieldlover* ? ?? or if not, I hope the fish were a decent size?
Off to see Operation Mincemeat with a friend this afternoon at the Film House Blue Sapphire knows. Might treat myself to a glass of Merlot there - it’s very civilised, no buckets of popcorn or fizzy drinks.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Good morning from a grey S Hants, I was rudely awakened by a message from friends in Singapore, en route to Australia, there is a slight time difference!
Aching a bit from garden work yesterday, allegedly getting showers later, we’ll see. I’ve some more to do today.
Pleased you got a nap gMattie, it makes a difference.
Hope all travellers have safely arrived and holidaymakers are having fun.
Enjoy your first day of May ??

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 01-May-22 07:03:19

Poussins - of course!

Gingster Sun 01-May-22 07:03:20

Good morning all and yes it’s grey here In Essex. It does feel slightly warmer though! ?

Gardening yesterday and another walk to the bluebell woods with DD and smallest gd. She found a rope swing with a tyre for a seat and spent quite a while swaying beneath the tall trees, in the sunshine surrounded by the sea of ‘purple’ flowers. How I wished I could join her. My daughter told her that I had wanted to call her (DD) Bluebell , as our surname is Woods but grandad wasn’t keen. . ?

Today we will have the family over for cake and some sort of fizz to celebrate the twins 16th birthday . Eldest gd will be here before she goes back to Uni on Tuesday, so we must make the most of all being together before the holiday season.

Enjoy May Day everyone. ????

Good morning from a DFDS ferry just about to depart for Calais.
We stayed in Dover last night and slept well.
A long journey ahead to a hotel in a place called Chateauroux.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone.
Tomorrow I will report from French France ?? xx

Pittcity Sun 01-May-22 07:13:32

Good morning from Lisbon where we have just woken and not opened the hotel curtains yet. Cooler today but still reaching 20°plus.
It's a public holiday and a Sunday so everything is either closed or "maybe", so we have no firm plans except have booked to eat in the hotel tonight to be sure of a meal.
Love to all ? x

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp corner of Somerset

While the garden is relishing in some rain, we were hoping it would wait a while as we’re off along two motorways to meet the family for lunch followed by a couple of hours of noise in our elder sons home. It will be good to see them all, a treat to be in the same place at the same time.

Good wishes to everyone. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️

BlueBalou Sun 01-May-22 07:26:25

Good morning everyone from a damp corner of Wiltshire, I am delighted that it’s drizzling ?, the garden is so dry the soil is like dust.
Happy May Day to you all, there’s nothing going on here in the village, the May Fair is in a couple of weeks.
Lovely lazy day today, a walk as usual with DDog then I am going to spend the morning dabbling with watercolours I think- it’s years since I have done any.
I ordered some prints of photos on my phone yesterday, there are several I fancy having a go at drawing or painting. It will do me good to do something totally different for once.
I hope you all have a peaceful day x

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 01-May-22 07:28:52

Good morning all from wet Harrogate
We got back from Llandudno yesterday- just in time!! The town was heaving either the celebrations for their Victorian weekend. It was wall to wall campavans parked on the way up to the Little Orme and bus loads coming into the town. On Friday they were setting up a fairground in the Main Street. We went for that weekend about 10 years ago, it was heaving then.
Hope you had a safe journey home too, Marydoll
Today will be a lot of catching up
Have the best day possible folks

Urmstongran Sun 01-May-22 07:32:08

Labour Day here in Spain too. Isn’t this year just racing ahead? I can’t believe it’s May already. Back in a minute...

Grandmabatty Sun 01-May-22 07:51:39

Good morning all from Polmont where it's 9° and wet. Grey skies above forecast more to come.
Ashcombe thank you. I slept better last night and my feet aren't as bad today. I have resigned myself to having a chronic condition. Because I don't look like anything is wrong, people don't understand that sometimes I am in pain. Enough moaning! Yesterday was pleasant. Breakfast and a blether with a friend then I bought a bed! The bed in the spare room was very old and rickety so I have bought a very nice wooden frames single bed for visitors ie dgs1 mainly. It gets delivered and built on Tuesday so good service. I then spent yesterday afternoon emptying the room.
Today I will dismantle the old bed and hopefully my dsil is coming to help put it on the drive. Then I'll contact the council for an uplift. Meatballs and spaghetti for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a damp grey Hull but the rain is much needed.

Just reading all your doings and what lovely activities and family meetings and the places you all live sound gorgeous.
Wishing everyone one the move safe journeys and those on holiday have the best time.
grandMattie ? thoughts as always to you and your DH

We haven’t got any plans today we spent a lovely afternoon out in the garden I planted some sweet pea and cosmos seeds. We haven’t got a lot of space left though but I’ll find somewhere for them. I just love colour.
We may go for a long walk which will include a cuppa somewhere.

Take care everyone and have a lovely Sunday and I’m sure you will fine many moments of joy??

Marydoll Sun 01-May-22 08:00:58

Good morning all from a damp Glasgow, where its currently 11° C.

Yesterday was a bit of a non day, the blasted nausea has returned and I am running out of the anti nausea medication, so I will need to ration the meds. I can empathise with those, who are suffering with post Covid fatigue, it is so tiresome.

Nothing planned today, apart from having an empty, when DH goes to DS1's to watch the football. ( I am not allowed to come , as Dollie and I talk too much.?) Of course he will have my wee Dollie, all to himself and I cannot allow that, so I may pop in afterwards. ? The last time he visited, he caught Covid from her, he should be safe this time! ?

Its DIL2's birthday tomorrow, so I need to look for her gifts, in my glory hole of gifts. I couldn't find the energy yesterday and I have a suspicion, they may call in today.

Wishing you all the best of Sunday possible.

Urmstongran Sun 01-May-22 08:03:29

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s another gorgeous day ahead with a high of 28°C forecast. We are definitely going to walk down to the beach after a late breakfast. It will be very relaxing to get sun beds with fat mattresses and read our Kindles under a parasol for the day.

It will be busy with locals in the bars and restaurants as it’s a Bank Holiday weekend but I dare say we two can squish in one of the chiringuitos on the beach for rosada a la plancha and a glass of chilled white Rioja!

I finished my book - Small Pleasures - I loved it and would highly recommend it. I need to choose another today.
#lazygran

? to others on here enjoying their sunny holidays in Europe. ?. Right, I’m off to find a swimsuit and a sundress! x

Urmstongran Sun 01-May-22 08:07:40

Yes definitely ‘pop in’ Marydoll to see Dollie - bet she’ll be looking out for you behind grandad! Funny how we very often X posts some mornings!

Morning all and happy Mayday! Many years ago, when I lived in Edinburgh, there was a practice/tradition of climbing a hill called 'Arthur's seat' and having a small service atop at........ 0500! I did it a couple of times (crazy youth with the right boyfriend!) when the weather was kind. Wonder if it still happens today? Might google...... Have a grand day everyone.g
