I’m guessing Mick has no signal in Llandudno so hope he won’t mind me opening up!
Good morning, all, from a misty Torbay.
It was disappointing to have to spend a couple of hours inside yesterday when the sun was shining because the theatre Committee needed to discuss renewal of contracts for our few paid staff (set builder, technicians and cleaners). Our finances are greatly reduced due to the pandemic and the average size of audiences has yet to return to previous levels.
I’m looking forward to returning to church today after an absence of some weeks due to being elsewhere. To those with health or other worries, I wish you relief. ??????
Strewth, Marydoll! Jobsworths are the worst aren’t they! We have a few here!
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and cloudy. Thanks for opening Ash. I,too, am pleased to hear that your husband had a better day Grandmattie. It looks like you had a lovely time Grannmarie. I could do with a bit of blue skies and warm sunshine. Marydoll, having been on the receiving end of a jobsworth, I feel your pain! And annoyance. I can use the teacher voice still, if I have to. Happy birthday to Cornergran and Mr.Grannmarie.
Yesterday was housework and shopping day. Then I had an unexpected invitation to coffee from my friend so I hot footed it to her house and we blethered for a few hours, while her partner worked outside building a wall. Last night was a dreadful night's sleep though and I'm feeling a bit washed out today. However I'm off out for lunch with another friend. There might be a nap happening this afternoon. I won't need much at tea time, just soup and a sandwich. Have a good day all
Birthday greetings, Cornergran and delighted that granMattie and her DH had a good day, something to be treasured.
Lovely concert last night by the local choral society which DH used to sing with, great religious music through the centuries, a real spirit lifter. Today’s trip to the Downton film has been postponed so nothing much apart from church. Newspaper and book, I think.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning from a sunny NE.
Sister brought my shopping yesterday, she has been left with a chesty cough after covid.
SIL and I cooked dinner and had a glass of Sancerre.
Today the family are taking me to Howick Gardens in Northumberland so I better set to and make a picnic.
Have a good day all.
Happy Birthday Cornergran ???
Good morning everyone from sunny Carlisle.
I hope you are having an enjoyable trip Mick, I expect you are getting some good weather for it.
Not much planned for today but it would be a crime not to spend some of it outdoors. I have plants to go in and am wondering if I can plan on no more frosts, I know it's theoretically possible.
Happy Birthday, cornergran, wishing you an enjoyable day.
Marydoll, has life always been like this, the fates constantly throwing you challenges?!
And glad to hear your DH had a good day grandMattie and I hope that continues.
Wishing all of you the best possible day.
Happy birthday cornergran enjoy your day ??.Sun starting to come out so some relaxing outside .Chilli for tea. Glad to read your Oh had a good day Gm which must also give you a good day. Urms your days always sound good .
Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, but due to get sunny spells later. Yesterday turned out lovely, all the washing dried, I cut the back grass, and then finished off the weeding. A huge pile of leaves got swept up, and I am well on the way to filling the second garden bin. I now need to dig over the weeded borders, spread some compost and scatter some cottage garden seeds in the vain hope that they 'take'. Must do some watering too.
DS may be coming down some time today to set.up my new laptop, but I have no idea when, so I suppose I had better shower and dress.
Apart from that, the newspapers and a new book await. Pork chop for dinner tonight.
Ha, I can see ?! May it shine on all today.
Happy birthday Cornergran
Good Morning everyone and another lovely sunny day. I intend to spend sometime in the garden, but reading of so many of you in foreign places makes me quite jealous. Pleased GM’s husband had a good day yesterday, pray it continues, and sorry but had to laugh at Marydolls novella, although it wasn’t a laughing matter for her, my life is so boring in comparison. Wishing you all the best day.
Just popping back to say Happy Birthday to Cornergran enjoy your day,???? and to thank you all for your kind wishes.
Grandmadinosaur that may well have been me, I think I was going to order The Last of the Mojitos!??
Have a wonderful time!!
Urms, you're right, I'm glad I've got the buffet catered for!
Marydoll, what a lot of stress for you, please have a restful day today. I was ' First Communion Class Teacher' for many years, my pleasure and privilege, but I well remember the stress behind all the organisation involved. I always appreciated all the work put in by the Sacristan, church cleaners and flower arrangers, I always sent a special thank you card to the PP and all involved. Happy memories.
I'm glad I managed to get to the Vigil Mass last night, cos this morning is busy busy preparing the house for the family lunch.
Well, this isn't getting the work done, as my dear Dad used to say if we sat down for a while!!
Kind regards to all, enjoy your Sunday.
Morning from a cool S Lanarkshire. Happy birthday cornergran, I smiled several times yesterday at the image of you sliding off the polished red sofa!
Unbelievable but actually believable behaviour from the church helpers Marydoll, several times I’ve wondered at the lack of connection between people’s intention to help at church and their behaviour when they do!
Holiday stories sound lovely, one of my favourite places is Santa Eulalia in Ibiza, among many memories is my young GD swimming her first ‘breadth* of the pool. Happy days.
So glad to read of an improvement for your DH grandMattie
Wishing a good day to all???
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday * cornergran* ??have a lovely day.
Happy 70th Birthday to MrGranmarie ???
Good morning all, and happy birthday to today's May Birthday people. So glad your DH - and therefore yourself, grandmattie - had such a good day yesterday. I hope that continues into today and you can have a peaceful and relaxing day together.
Well, it's yet another grey start on the Angus coast, although most afternoons and evenings have turned out bright and sunny, so there's hope. Last night I didn't need to turn the lamps on until 9.30, which was lovely. Yesterday was spent sorting out some little domestic problems. One involved Robbie, my much-loved little Robovac, who was declining to charge. After much scratching of heads (mine), changing of docking positions and polishing of terminals (Robbie's), I discovered that what I thought was the 'on' position of his switch was in fact the 'off'! After having used him for 18 months now!! Oh dear, oh very dear. Techno wizard I am not and fumble fingers I certainly am! Now I must away and see what mayhem my ineptitude can cause today. Have the best Sunday you can everybody x
Good morning from a drizzly Black Country.
It was a gorgeous day yesterday and we had a BBQ in the evening and it wasn't cold at all!
Day 8 and I am still testing positive!! So going nowhere again today! I have a Dental appointment Wednesday, so looks like I will have to cancel. I honestly feel fine now, just a bit of a cough now and then.
Happy Birthday cornergran
and to MrGranmarie
Good morning everyone from CoArmagh where the sun is shining ! I can’t sit outside as some gardening work is being done and I was told that n audience was not appreciated !
As said work was instigated by my plea for my wee plastic greenhouse to be put up I can’t say a word
Tomato plants and cucumber plants enjoyed their first night in the plastic cover and I have my windowcills back
I remember my first Communion , I’m sure I was far too young , it was in EastKilbride during the war , the teacher had got a few ice cream wafers and broke them up for us to practice with , the emphasis was on the mechanics rather than the spiritual !
No idea how Miss managed to get the wafers , must say the real thing was not a shock and it was a good idea
I’m glad that GMs oh has had a better day
Really jealous of all the Spanish holidaymakers ??
Good morning everyone from a beautiful sunny Algarve.
I was determined today to post and then catch up with you all afterwards but got sidetracked by Marydoll’s post as one does!
That and Paddyanne’s beautiful post the other day brought back memories of my own first communion in much simpler times.
Have a good Sunday everyone.
Good morning everyone. It’s cloudy but quite bright in my corner of Lancashire, currently 9°C.
Thank you for opening up Ashcombe, I hope Mick is enjoying his stay in Llandudno.
Yesterday was a quiet day, a little housework, a saunter through the woodland behind our house and watching the steam train. Today will be much the same, weather permitting, without the train.
Have a lovely party Granmarie, happy birthday to your DH.
Happy birthday Cornergran.
Glad yesterday was better Grandmattie. Hope there are more days like that.
What a drama filled day Marydoll, I don’t know how you cope with so much. I hope you can rest today and enjoy seeing Dollie.
A warm welcome to any new members I have missed recently.
Thinking of all our grans going through difficult times.
Wishing everyone the best day possible with a ?or two along the way.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It is warm outside. I shall be visiting DMiL later and possibly take her for a drive if she can think of somewhere she would like.
DS usually comes out on a Sunday but his DS has exams next week so the household is deep in revision mode.
Some things make me grateful and one of them is No more exams!
Happy birthday to all those celebrating today.
I am delighted to hear Mr grandMatte is so improved. Yay!!
Oh dear Marydoll what a crisis. I am glad you were able to help with PP's hospital needs
I've just bought a firescreen on FB. Please don't tell anyone as I am supposed to be decluttering.
You can hide a lot of clutter behind a firescreen grammaretto
