Some very distressing posts in the kitchen at the moment, I do hope this thread brings comfort to our friends in need ??

The sun is shining and I have been on a garden lounger reading my kindle, have just come indoors to cool off.

You absolutely are right about reaction to shocking news and I am sad you had the same experience.
I couldn’t take in what my friend was saying as she was so upset.
At first I thought it must be her H although he is very fit and well.
Like you I thought I must have mistaken what she was saying.
If it is like that for those of us on on the periphery of the situation I cannot start to imagine how the family are feeling.

Annsixty that’s absolutely tragic news to hear. Just can’t begin to imagine how your friend is feeling. You must be in such a spin with that news. Big hugs for you. ??

Soop you have good news and bad news. We all think our lives with friends and family go mostly swimmingly day to day but we never know what’s around that corner do we. ?

Dear annsixty, I am also so sorry to hear that you have had yet more distressing news. Your poor friend. She must be heartbroken.

News from our friend whose husband has had his foot amputated, is somewhat cheering. The surgeon is pleased with the "stump" and is hopeful that a further amputation won't be necessary if his condition remains stable. That is a huge relief.

The wife of another local friend has multi organ failure. She has been poorly for such a long time. Her husband has done a marvellous job of caring for her, their home and including all shopping and cooking. Now, of course, she's in hospital.

I apologise for being downbeat. I know that this despondency will pass. I have no wish to spoil the atmosphere in our kitchen. Every cloud...

I’m so sorry, Annsixty. The shock is horrific. You may recall we lost a friend suddenly two weeks ago and the brain somehow just cannot compute it. There must be a mistake or you heard it wrong or something else that means it’s not true.

So sorry to hear this sad news, annsixty, it is such a shock, especially when it's sudden, & in a younger person.

I am so sorry to come to the kitchen with yet another tale of woe but I must get it out.
Yesterday a close friend of very long standing rang me in great distress to tell me their 53 year old S had died from ,they are assuming until the PM , a sudden and massive heart attack.
Her devastation was awful to hear.

She asked me to ring mutual friends and personally tell two neighbours, they used to live a few doors from me.
I felt everyone’s shock and grief and it has stayed with me.

I have hardly slept, I can’t think of the middle aged man, I can only think of the boy I met when he was three and subsequently saw grow up into a very successful business man and a wonderful husband and father of three.

It's been very warm here today, forecast is for the temperature to rise until we reach 31+, by Friday, (far too hot for me!).

Tomorrow I start a "Diabetes Prevention Programme", it's on-line, so fingers crossed that I manage to access that, my computer skills are basic.
I had imagined going along to a local session, where I could sit at the back..!!

hulahoop I love cinder toffee so yes please. The only time I ever eat it is when I get it from Hull Fair.

I have been catching up and sending healing thoughts to all who are having a worrying time ,we have been out on the train today shattered now .,have washer on and emptying it is all in doing today .I bought some cinder toffee so will leave some for anyone who fancies it.

Hello everyone from someone who has been AWOL. Currently watching Today at the Test -what a match!
Still trying to finish jobs for our newly decorated bedroom. Today I put the second coat of chalk paint on our dressing table, to make it match our new chest of drawers. Then I did some weeding and deadheading in the front garden. It’s a clay bank which has set like concrete. Then I had a real appointment with a GP this afternoon! He is going to put a steroid injection in each hip to try to relieve the pain but don’t know when yet. I can’t wait!
DH ‘s leg ulcers are infected and unfortunately today’s appointment was postponed until tomorrow. I’m afraid to say, they smell awful. I may decamp to the spare bedroom tonight.
Best wishes to everyone who is unwell, sad or has poorly relatives. It’s hard when the weather is lovely (sorry Scotland) and we should all be relaxed and happy. Take a few mindful moments in the fresh air and breathe.

That looks really interesting Brook. I had a quick role play job today and Dd and the boys came round after nursery. It was dgs1's sports day and he was very excited. The nursery sent photos and it was lovely to see him running and laughing. He was exhausted though and fell asleep before his dinner. I am exhausted too and will probably go to bed early. Along with kitty I did little in the late afternoon as started watching the cricket, our football team should pay attention.
Garden watered, l room blinds were drawn about 2 as it’s west facing, keeps the room relatively cool.

Just put a chicken pie in the oven and having a catch up on here after a busy but thoroughly enjoyable day. We had tickets for the recording Antiques Roadshow which the BBC were filming at Brodie Castle, not far from Inverness today. Lots of interesting things to see and the event was managed really well. We’d taken along a few things to be valued, some ceramics and jewellery that were my mums and an old phonograph that’s been in the garage for ages. Nothing was especially valuable but it was good to chat to the experts and be involved. Fiona Bruce was there and she was very friendly and chatty with everyone. It was good to see how they do the filming and interesting to see how it’s all put together..
A bit cold and wet here today, please send that sunshine up our way! ?

‘Evening All’

We walked to the Trafford Centre this morning where I managed to purchase 3 of our needs then we got the bus home. It’s been a gorgeously warm day and now Himself is round the corner on the grammar school fields, having been asked to take the Boy Wonder to his football training. We will eat on the verandah in an hour when he’s back as it’s so pleasant. Baked fish & salad. I’ve just opened a bottle of chilled Viognier and poured a glass. So, “Cheers” Shazza!

Good afternoon lovely Kitcheners. The weather is heavenly here. DH just cooked me a lovely pasta which we’ve eaten outside. All leftovers chopped up from our bbq on Saturday. Yum. We are very good at using up.

Sorry to hear about another friend Soop suffering ill health.

Today I’ve been to visit my uncle. He lives in assisted living about an hour away. When I got there he couldn’t wait to tell me his friend an 84 year old lady had had a fall. She was on the floor with a carer by her side in the reception area. The ambulance took an hour to come and there is a hospital 10 mins away. All that time on the floor and goodness knows how long she’ll be in A&E poor love.

Anyway back to my glass of wine lovely people. Cheers to you all xx

Anxiously awaiting update regarding our good friend's husband. Have also heard rather distressing news relating to the deteriorating health of another friend's wife.

No wish to bring sadness into our kitchen. I shall wander away to catch up with tennis.

Tomorrow is another day. I shall return and, in the meantime, my love to you all. Take very good care of yourselves. You are precious people.

Just popping in for a catch up whilst watching England win the cricket and eating a magnum. We are in our playroom which is upstairs with all the windows open. A lovely afternoon.

I've not had a chance to pop in for a few days. DOH to some leave so we have been exploring the area we now call home. The weather at times wasn't great ( even ended up in IKEA one day. Oh dear) but to wards the end of the week it was glorious and we carried on transforming the garden. We've had a decked area installed and we made some planters from the left over materials and so if course that involved a trip to the lovely family owned garden centre...and a bootful of plants at the end of the visit. I am so sorry to hear that several of you are having a traumatic time with poorly loved ones. I hope very much that they are all restored to health very soon. I did keep all of those that I knew about prior to Sunday in my prayers at Mass. How lucky are we all to know that we have the love and care of our fellow Kitchener's when we most need it.
