Enough with the jubilee already.

Thank you Joseann for your kind comments. We are here in Devon in this gorgeous house celebrating my husband’s 70th birthday and being together again as a whole and complete family for a couple of weeks (only one week in Devon.)

They’re all outside playing rounders so the weather hasn’t spoilt it too much. I hope it doesn’t spoil the planned for street parties later this week either.

The cheeses were delicious too ? (I think that’s cheese )

I’m not miserable I just have no interest in all day drinking, trifles, or the RF. I’m from a military family so smears about those who serve our country are offensive.

I shall go with my bottle of elderflower pressé and I doubt there will be all-day drinking here although some may have a ?or ? and perhaps a drop of fizz.

We've had a very constrained couple of years, we haven't been anywhere much or even seen all the family so getting together with friendly neighbours will, I hope, be enjoyable.

The UK is in a unique position to celebrate somebody's long service to their job . When has this happened before and when will it happen again ?

Saturday 4th is my grandsons birthday. A far more important celebration for me. I’m not a royalist and when I see how much money is being spent on the jubilee when there are so many people going cold and hungry, it makes my blood boil.

I'm not interested either. Neither is anyone I know and im not miserable either. I've far better things to be doing like looking after my grandchildren, going to our eldest son birthday do on Sunday etc.

Respect to the Queen however I'm not into all the socialising around it. For me when the Queen passes the monarchy should be abolished or at least a "referendum" on it. Though I'm sure that would be a stitch up too, given the last one.

As for the money they bring in: turn all the amenities and displays over to the National Trust. The people will still come.

It's not like they will be paupers as they have millions in the bank

Me too .. when there are people who can't afford to heat and eat , I bet they will be sat outside with flags , Save their heating especially if it's raining ! may be pick up some scraps from a street party ! I think not !!! With all the money this Government has wasted on non performing PPE and given to their friends contracts over the top on cost ,, They could have given a street party for the whole country ! seeing as Boris does seem to be the expert on parties !

I have great respect for anyone who serves/served in the armed forces.

There’s a free play (Alice in Wonderland) on the green near us, so I’ll take a picnic and have a nice time, but that’s it.

It annoys me every time an advert comes on the radio saying that we all need Prosecco at £5 a bottle from Sainsburys.

1) It’s going to be shit Prosecco for a fiver.

I'm feeling very smug as I overlook Lyme Bay, see dolphins on several occasions, eat Devon cheese all year, and yet can still join in a bit of jubilee partying to boot. Sorted!

Definite overkill in our village. Will be taking visiting family to the picnic and fun day on Friday afternoon and that's it for me.

I'm surprised that there's so much negativity from the older section of the population. Had I given it any thought, I would have expected this from younger people. Just shows how wrong I can be.
