The celebrations haven’t started yet and I’m already fed up with them.
I bought a loaf of bread yesterday and it had a silver crown on it and a jubilee message. When I think of the cost of redesign and printing a new message, it must impact on the price I’m paying.
Then I’ve just seen the itinerary for next week and I’m bemused by the timetable.
There’s a glorious fly past again with 40 planes and helicopters etc. I always remember my husband laughing at previous fly pasts as the UK has such a paucity of planes to do it that some of them were training planes and clapped out aircraft to bulk up the numbers.
I also didn’t realise the bank holidays were Thursday and Friday.
Oh well soon be over and we can have an in depth examination of Meghan and Harry and what they did/didn’t do, who wore what and how much did it cost etc. Ammunition for news articles for months and posts on gransnet.
Bring it on.

Well I for one will thoroughly enjoy the celebrations of our wonderful Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. ?
I’m with you Urm. ??????????
When we return home tomorrow, having looked after our grandsons for 5 days ? I will sleep, have a cuppa and put up the bunting.
Best check the numbers. My post, 20:07. There's more of us than there are of you
Why does everything have to be reduced to competitive confrontation - you versus us, us against you?
I think this is the main reason I and others who have voted with their feet find GN less and less attractive than when we joined years ago.
Does it bring sone people satisfaction?
They’re welcome to it.
anyone watch bbc1 unseen film of Elizabeth and margaret gas children....also showing george v and the queen's father george v1.. there is a thread on it.
Roll on next week when we can forget about it.
If there’s a bunting shortage it’s not down to me. I haven’t bought anything to do with the jubilee and don’t intend to, but I wish everyone a happy time if they choose to celebrate.
Thank you all for your good wishes ?
I'll tell my daughter to pack the children's water shoes Maggiemaybe, good idea.
Why is it that some royalists are personally insulting to republicans. I'm not a moaning misery. I love having fun and celebrations. Just not celebrating the RF.
Zonne that would make me angry too.
However are we not jumping the gun somewhat? Is all the shenanigans due to start Thursday?
I'm guessing that for many who are participating the pleasure is in the planning for the event. A bit like Winnie the Pooh said about tasting ?.......the anticipation is the best bit!

Apparently it's not great to want to celebrate.
It's not great not to want to celebrate and avoid it all either
???
It's OK to do what one wants after all
Absolutely
Live and let live.
My friend was on the phone today telling me that nowhere near her has any bunting flag etc etc. Well there's none here either.

I'm happy enough to have a RF. To be honest I don't give them a huge amount of thought.
However if people want parties that's great. If they don't, that's equally great.
It's OK to do what one wants after all.
Have a lovely time V3ra

^(You probably haven't read them, though, I don't mind)^
Have you read the post in this thread that asks " who doesn't love the Queen? "
No! ?

I am amazed with the amount of people on here who are moaning about the Jubilee, i guess you also moan about anyone who has served their country !!!, what will you all moan about next, what alot of miserable people here,
Best check the numbers. My post, 20:07. There's more of us than there are of you.
Keep waving your wee flag though, if it makes you happy. And keep implying that we're traitors too if you like. That'll end well.

Ooo V3ra you've suddenly made me feel very homesick, (born & bred Londoner, school, uni, work etc). There's nothing like being in the capital for a celebration. Enjoy yourselves!
PS You may well know this, but I’d take the grandchildren some plastic sandals for the fountain. We saw a couple of children slipping as they ran round when we were dangling our feet in it last year.
Now that sounds like a wonderful way to spend a Bank Holiday. V3ra. Fingers crossed the weather’s kind for you.
Sound fabulous, Have a lovely time V3ra ??

We're going to London for the weekend, my daughter has planned it all.
We're hoping to catch some of the Trooping the Colour on The Mall, then going for a picnic and to show the grandchildren the Diana Memorial fountain.
On Friday we're going to the Science Museum, on Saturday to The Tower.
The rest of the family are then going home and we're going on a Platinum Jubilee Champagne Gala Dinner Cruise on one of the Thames riverboats.
Nothing planned for Sunday yet.
We're looking forward to enjoying the festive atmosphere and celebrating with family.

^I'm not saying that but I'm not sure why anyone who might enjoy a party at the Jubilee is labelled a forelock-tugging sycophantic serf!!^
Fair comment. How would you describe people willing to defer and profess "love" to a lady in a privileged position just because of who her dad was? Not sure anybody's called you a serf though.
I remember who it was but I won't tell tales.
You know, if you've ever read any of my posts, that I don't defer or love someone I don't know.
(You probably haven't read them, though, I don't mind)
^My grandchildren had lovely jubilee celebration week at school…
School decorated, pupils and children all dressed in red white and blue^
My granchildren’s school also had lots of jubilee themed activities.
As part of that, my four year old granddaughter learnt a jubilee song. It involves a lot of bowing. She was very happy and I was - and am - bloody furious.
No child needs to learn that sort of subservient nonsense.
Have nice time Volver
Glamping. ?
Don't suppose the local wild life will be interested either
I will be abit more down market
with my family in caravan.
Which will be festooned with bunting.
Will report back of later if that particular Shire is bothering with jubilee.
As for the whole country enjoying jubilee joyfulness well of course that's up to them.
I'm grateful that my grandchildren are having a lovely fun week something to remember.
Before they are much older there will be a new monarch.
And quite possibly during their
lifetime a king George ?
