A ‘happy to be celebrating the jubilee’ thread.

Just to balance things out grin

Seems to be a lot of people on here really not interested in the jubilee celebrations, so I thought it would be nice to have a thread for those of us who are happy about it & think 70 years as our queen is a fantastic achievement.

Are you going to any events or parties?

Isn’t it wonderful to be able to call this country home?
Aren’t we lucky to be part of all this wonderful pageantry going back centuries?
I am patriotic and proud of it!
??!

F a b u l o u s!! No one does pomp and pageantry and spectacle like Britain. Have had a wonderful morning watching it on TV and feeling very proud.

I didn't think the Queen "looked frail". I thought she looked great and to be enjoying it all, and explaining things to Louis.

Watching in Melbourne Australia although will be taping the last of it as it will run beyond my bedtime.

I love the wonderful displays and admire the discipline and precision of those concerned. No one does it like the Brits IMO..

We have family en route to ours as we speak. I’ve put some bunting up in the back garden not out front. We will have a small gathering on Saturday but not overdoing it. It’s just nice to be together for a long weekend. We’ll be raising a glass to her over the next few days. She’s been queen for my whole life. Can’t imagine her not there.

I asked my mum the other day if a very early memory when I was about 4 was if the queen had passed through our village on the way to RAF Leeming I remember waving but I didn’t know if I’d seen it on tv or dreamt it but she said yes it happened. It’s the only time I’ve seen her. That was about 55 years ago.

All the helicopters that led the fly past have just flown over my back garden - my own little display!

Wonder if the Duchess had her child-friendly bag at her feet in the carriage?

You remember the drill?
Tissues
Wet wipes
Polo mints
Colouring books and crayons...

I don’t know who said there was no interest? I think it was someone on the other thread - they clearly didn’t know what they were talking about.

Loving it! ????????????

Calendargirl Thu 02-Jun-22 13:12:56

Well, all the talk of ‘no interest in the Jubilee’ was thoroughly squashed. Just looking at the thousands crowding into the Mall….

Loving the formation of 70 by Typhoons.

Very tearful seeing the Queen looking so frail. But the crowds are amazing! & so many young people there too which is great.

The two biggest tv channels in France are broadcasting live the Trooping of the Colour,

My French DIL has gone potty over the jubilee! Ds says their house is festooned with bunting and other celebratory items. ?

Pres Macron has given the Queen a horse, apparently. ?

I’ve just been video called by a friend in Oz who has been watching Trooping of the Colour and is looking forward to seeing the rest of the celebrations.

karmalady Thu 02-Jun-22 12:39:32

I have been enjoying trooping the colour, feeling very proud and uplifted. It will just be me and the tv for the celebrations, I don`t want to go social chatting, making small talk tbh. It is beautiful weather, perfect for this very special jubilee

I think there is a bit of envy of Great Britain around the world. If only for today!

Of course!

I should imagine the make-up is for the cameras, after all these images are history in the making.

Pepper59 Thu 02-Jun-22 12:25:12

I am going to a BBQ where some of us are celebrating and others aren't so much. Today I will sit with a glass of fizz and wish the Queen well. Im grateful we have a benevolent Monarchy, also just in my opinion I very much admire her sense of duty to the country.

Just put tv on …queen on balcony. Looking good…. Wearing quite a lot of make up !,

Not being negative before anyone leaps in!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 02-Jun-22 12:21:20

I must admit to having a tear in my eye, watching The Trooping of the Colour.

What a fabulous display of heritage, pageantry along with the future generations of Royals.

That inexorable marching is amazing and with a bit of imagination I can imagine what the “enemy” might have felt with that advancing on them
A quote comes back to me, somebody like the Duke of Wellington?
I don't know what effect these men will have on the enemy, but by God, they terrify me
On a more superficial note I feel sorry for the spectators immediately behind Carrie and Boris - you’d need a periscope to see past her hat.

MayBee70 Thu 02-Jun-22 11:33:26

I love the music and seeing the beautiful horses.

MawtheMerrier Thu 02-Jun-22 11:31:51

It’s still going on Aveline
