Frozen potatoes? I’ve never heard of them, except frozen chips.

Hi Gsm, You can buy boxes of frozen mash - but I prefer frozen 'cubes' of mash. You just put the cubes in a microwavable container and cook in microwave for required amount of time. Then fork it all together and you have very nice mashed potatoes - even Mr R eats it and he's very fussy! BTW I found out about this super helpful product on Gransnet quite a few years ago smile

Cash. Same way as cheques, thought we couldn’t do without, but cards/phones replacing it all quite fast. I think the pandemic made it happen faster.

Meant to say that you can buy it in Sainsburys but I am sure other supermarkets sell it.

Well we learn something new every day here! ?

Slacks. We may wear something like them but we don't use the word any more/

I have a picture of me in the 1960s wearing those awful stretchy slacks with a foot piece to hold them down. Hideous.

I’m in fashion with my hair then Chestnut at last.

You can buy them in Tesco as well. Very useful if you're just cooking for one person.

Tea cosies. I'm the only person I know who uses one!

i do too nell, you can't beat a cuppa from a teapot, tastes so much better when it's been brewed rather than just a teabag dipped into the cup!

A sense of history which in turn relates to the future. Marriage as a basis for family life. Along with tolerance which is the essential ingredient for a long marriage.

Matching teasets and teapots, toast racks and I have already been asked by grandchildren”what’s a chequebook” and what’s a newspaper.

Religious ceremonies for marriage, funerals and Christenings.
Lawns (global warning)
I used to use talcum powder for drying and removing sand after swimming at the beach, but wouldn’t use it these days, especially with babies.

Gardening - sadly. I can see the downward trend already. Seems it's too much trouble for a lot of people. Two houses in my road have plastic grass for their front lawn. What next -plastic flowers outside?

Farzanah Wed 01-Jun-22 15:52:58

Gardening alive and well in my neck of the woods Skydancer. Chelsea FS pretty busy too.

Push along lawn mowers

Blankets

Shoe laces

Gardening alive and well here too I'm glad to say. I enjoy walking along looking to see what other people are growing - and they're welcome to look at my garden too.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 01-Jun-22 16:19:42

I think gardening is very popular with those younger people fortunate to have any outside space. It’s increasingly promoted for its mental health benefits, rightly so.

Casdon Wed 01-Jun-22 17:41:47

I see more gardening in the future too, not less. It’s had a big resurgence in the last 5 years, and even more so since the lockdowns. Finance will also have an impact, as people are growing more vegetables at home and on allotments to save money, most towns now have allotment waiting lists. .

Saying "The War" and meaning the 1939-1945 war.

Paraffin stoves. Dangerous things but they were cheap to run. Bus tickets and train tickets and the man who used to issue them. All on plastic passes now.

Cleaning silver and brass - our stuff will finish up in a skip, I fear. “Best” china - or anything else.

Honesty and accountability in politics… I think it will deteriorate further. Manners generally. Correct grammar. . Hand written letters. Mental arithmetic and calculators.. Alexa will have all the answers Being able to talk to a human at a service provider. Waste of food - hopefully

Coco51 Thu 02-Jun-22 11:28:53

Common sense.

red1 Thu 02-Jun-22 11:29:22

religions, but i don't see it realistically happening.

Bellanonna Thu 02-Jun-22 11:29:41

Yes. Pearl-clutchers in pedants’ corner would be shocked at all the changes in speech.
