I think:

Printed newpapers

Landline phones

Boris Johnson (I hope, though he clings on somewhat).

You beat me to it Coco. Good manners and common sense.

Common sense and saving up for things

cossybabe Thu 02-Jun-22 11:36:39

Manners!

Bellanonna, hello from another who was 5 when war started in 1939. That was a time that we will never forget.

Bellanonna Thu 02-Jun-22 11:39:08

We certainly won’t, Annie1!

I live in Kent and I'm pleased to say that libraries are very much part of the local council agenda.
Nowadays, libraries are working hard to move with the times...they do so much more than book lending. I really don't think we'll loose them.
However, I think good old conversations may be something that's lost with our generation.

Cigarette and cigar smoking will go.

bongobil Thu 02-Jun-22 11:44:34

I use a tea cosy, can't beat a pot of tea!

Newgran59 Thu 02-Jun-22 11:50:02

Honeysuckleberries, you stole my comment ?

Aepgirl Thu 02-Jun-22 11:51:35

Good manners.

Fae1 Thu 02-Jun-22 11:54:27

Hopefully ...but doubtful!

pascal30 Thu 02-Jun-22 11:55:44

sadly the BBC and the NHS

Fae1 Thu 02-Jun-22 11:56:27

I'd rather a walk through the woods and a chance of social contact tbh.

kevincharley Thu 02-Jun-22 11:57:26

As long as we're slow cooked I think a green salad with a light French dressing would go rather well.

Dressagediva123 Thu 02-Jun-22 12:01:21

I use one - so does my daughter / I’ve also swapped to tea leaves ( no plastic)

Lindyloud Thu 02-Jun-22 12:08:03

Imperial measurements… unless the Joker still needs us distracted!

An interesting historical artefact that the younger generations can smile & shake their heads over! Afraid I still see inches & feet but have the curtesy to convert when I need to.

Callistemon21 Thu 02-Jun-22 12:14:41

Marks and Spencer

Hopikins Thu 02-Jun-22 12:26:55

Nell8. I still use a Tea Cosy. Tea is always better made in a tea pot and a cosy is essential.

Queuing at bus stops and leaving "easy" seats for those who need them. This has already stopped in London but I don't know about other parts of the country. Also sitting a child on your knee to make room for someone else.

Dempie55 Thu 02-Jun-22 12:54:33

Sending cards for special occasions.
NHS dental services.
Semolina, junket and tapioca.

Saggi Thu 02-Jun-22 12:55:39

CD’s and DVD’s and cheque books have gone already from my house….. I would dump the landline if not for husband. Only 2 people call on it …his friends …and we pay an horrendous fee for it! I think newspapers will go quite soon and perhaps cash will only last another 20-30 years!
My wish list for what I’d like to disappear: inequality regarding womens pay and advancement opportunities….. bigotry to all…..homework for kids AND adults …..celebrities….. and that last one includes monarchy!

Buttonjugs Thu 02-Jun-22 12:57:41

Grammaretto

postage stamps, hand written letters and post boxes.
Washing up bowls (I hadn't realised I was alone in using one until a young visitor tried to remove it from the sink)
Ironing (I hope).
Gender stereotypes.

Many online sellers including myself post orders in postboxes on a daily basis. They’re not just for letters. I don’t think they will be going anywhere,

Daisend1 Thu 02-Jun-22 12:58:24

Volver
Most certainly the monarchy. Thankful I won't be around.

I use linen napkins, as do some of my AC

Period pain, someone must find a cure surely?

Danish gynaecologists are able to stop too heavy periods now, so I imagine stopping period pains is next on the list.

I think, that with our generation the sense that voting at elections is one's duty as a citizen in a democracy and that it is a priviledge those who don't live in democracies fight to gain will die with us.

Unless the war in Ukraine has brought that fact home to those who are younger than we.
