Landline phones

Good manners, respect, tolerance, common sense, patience, care for others.

I have to say think it will be royal family, as I’ve sat here watching it and my kids grew up watching it but now both married with own families don’t watch it or have any interest in them. I think they will go with our younger generation. Just look at other countries wanting to remove queen as there head. Also newspapers and magazines and books.

My Nan couldn't even deal with answerphones! She'd start talking as soon as she heard the click so you only got half the message. My DH thinks that one day the internet will break and we'll all be up a gum tree, so to speak. I believe we rely on the US military for satnavs in vehicles and they could withdraw it whenever they wished!

My DC at 8 and 10 love cooking/ baking and gardening. They love to grow things from seed and watch the plant grow and why I put things where I do. Do I hope they are trends to stay.

As for table manners and propped family dinners cooked from scratch- mine love a propped family roast on Sundays and love being involved with the cooking. I can’t abide bad table manners so they know to sit and eat nicely at the table, which has a proper cloth on and matching serviettes.

Mine are all good with manners in general as hold doors open and say please/ thank you. Even at two the littlest says please and thank you, tries to hold doors or carry bags for me (more dragged really)

Libraries and books will stay I think. Again from an early age we’ve always used the library regularly and buy proper books for gifts at birthdays/ Easter/ Christmas. We go to the music, rhythm and rhyme toddler group that’s at the library too.

Cheques and landlines will definitely go. I think mostly home lighting will be done remotely so the actual wall switch will be something that is phased out.

You can buy frozen mashed potato. Saves a lot of work and waste.

But records are a real novelty let’s face it.

Sat Navs in vehicles are a pain. Cost so much to be updated that's if tgey ever bother to update. I use a sat nav that is attached to windscreen. Updated regularly free of charge.

Libraries are already evolving into places to WFH. Students use them to.plug in their laptops to.study and others come to use the library PCs. You can.get leaflets about local events, though they will.probably be become a thing of the past. Some libraries allow group meetings if there are any separate rooms. Some do toddler books and songs sessions.

Manners and politeness rather than rudeness and demands

I had no idea that people didn't use washing up bowls. Do they just chuck plates into a metal/ceramic sink or is it the march of the dishwasher?

HillyN Thu 02-Jun-22 14:37:19

Saucers. My DGD, playing with her tea set, asked me what the "little plates" were for! She's only ever seen tea in mugs.

grannyrebel7 Thu 02-Jun-22 14:44:07

Teapots. I love a teapot though. I'm the only one who uses one that I know now.

I’m crocheting some baby bootees at the moment! It’s one of my hobbies now that I’ve retired.

DIL loved hand-knitted clothes for the DGC, that's what started me off knitting again.

Now they're older they won't wear anything hand knitted.
But they do like crocheted blankets.

I'm sure, with the price of fuel going up, they'll be in demand in the future.

Manners and respect for others.

GreenGran78 Thu 02-Jun-22 16:55:44

Mallon my 21 yo GD asked me to knit her a 'bottom drawer' of baby clothes. She has no intention to start a family for some time, though she's got an 'intended'. She just loves the idea of hand-knits for when the time comes. I hope I'm still around to meet my prospective Great grandchildren.

I've seen so many new things come into being, in my lifetime. Plastics, jet engines, computers, electric cars...too many things to mention. I probably won't notice the demise of a lot of the things which may disappear. Most of them won't vanish before I do, anyway!

jandrayson2 Thu 02-Jun-22 17:58:28

Maybe not there are several outfits in my area where you can only pay in cash, no cards, checks etc accepted.

Lupin Thu 02-Jun-22 18:08:27

Full on monarchy, and hopefully the use of HRH. His or Her royal highness just sounds so silly in this modern age.
Tea sets with matching cups and saucers.
Having photographs in frames standing on the furniture.
Hand knitted jumpers.
Gas boilers for central heating or gas anything.
