Probably will get blasted but was sad that Prince Harry and Meghan were not seated together...this was a Service for all family/faiths and religions and Harry and Meghan were not together.

Bea65 Fri 03-Jun-22 12:36:10

Meant to add with Prince William and Kate...

Calendargirl Fri 03-Jun-22 12:37:17

What service were you watching???

They were sitting together, in the second row, as befits Non Working members of the Royal Family.

Calendargirl Fri 03-Jun-22 12:40:24

And no doubt if they hadn’t ‘flounced’, they would have been walking down in the main procession, and yes, they would have been seated alongside William and Catherine.

As it was… they were seated appropriately, second row from front, with the Princess Royal next to the Duchess of Cambridge.

It must be very hard for Her Majesty without Prince Philip today.

I may be wrong, but I understood the Queen had decided not to attend the service at St Paul’s today.

Such a shame Prince Andrew has Covid and can’t go out.

MawtheMerrier Fri 03-Jun-22 12:52:42

As they chose to step down from being “working Royals “ they have “moved back” into the same group as Beatrice, Eugenie, the Tindalls etc
As somebody commented at least twice this morning, nothing happens by chance on these occasions.

Bea65 Fri 03-Jun-22 12:52:45

?flounced..what do you mean?

Aveline Fri 03-Jun-22 12:54:03

They should have been in the bus with the other Royal hangers on!

Each to his own, but enough all ready.
I'm exhausted with just reading the love/hate royal threads
I'm off to drink my coffee (which the barista has cleverly topped with a foam Union Jack!!) accompanied by slice of red white and blue decorated strawberry cake.???
Enjoy the festivities everyone.

This has been stated endlessly both yesterday evening and this morning.

As for it “being a shame Prince Andrew couldn’t be there” - how much simpler all round. I know I am not alone in wondering if this is a diplomatic indisposition.

?flounced..what do you mean?

It's a GN thing. Not exclusive to M&H or indeed anyone public. GN members can also be accused of flouncing. I have once, although I don't flounce, I galumph.

I think most of us on GN understand “flounced” grin

PA has covid. Or so he says. ?

If Prince Andrew has diplomatic Covid I am impressed that finally he has got the message…

They sat with his cousins, the Queen’s grandchildren ,non working members of the family

Lexisgranny Fri 03-Jun-22 13:12:24

Confusing thread. Harry and Megan had their own ‘procession’, presumably to signify the fact that Harry is the son of the Prince of Wales. Then they were seated appropriately in the second row with the non-working royals, with the working royals in front of them. I must admit I have not been a fan of Megan’s clothes in the past, but today I thought she looked good, and it fitted her properly! Harry looked a bit uneasy I thought, which is fairly understandable.

My thoughts exactly GagaJo.

I guess it depended who hammered the message into him.

Maybe if he was forced to withdraw, he'll get the message now.

Lexisgranny Fri 03-Jun-22 13:37:08

My theory immediately was that by announcing he has covid, it saves face, in that as time passes it will not appear that he was banned. Hopefully it will end there and is not used as the first step to returning to royal appearances. I do hope I’m wrong!

Considering the reception the PM (cannot bring myself to write his name) had climbing the steps before entering ST Paul’s maybe it was for the better.

I am sorry you missed it Blossoming it was on the BBC news last night, also late afternoon/evening at the end of yesterdays Jubilee coverage and of course on the news this morning. On p 5 of todays DT.

THE Queen last night announced “with great reluctance” that she will not attend a service of thanksgiving celebrating her reign at St Paul’s Cathedral, after suffering discomfort during the first day of her jubilee celebrations.
Despite “immensely” enjoying Trooping the Colour and the flypast, the Queen decided the journey to St Paul’s and the length of the service today would make it too difficult to attend
The last-minute decision was announced by Buckingham Palace after a day of glorious celebrations, which saw the Queen take a salute from the balcony of the palace, and standing for the flypast by the Armed Forces .
Hours afterwards, a spokesman said: “The Queen greatly enjoyed today’s birthday parade and flypast but did experience some discomfort
‘Taking into account the activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty with great reluctance has concluded that she will not attend
You must have been busy elsewhere!
