Probably will get blasted but was sad that Prince Harry and Meghan were not seated together...this was a Service for all family/faiths and religions and Harry and Meghan were not together.

Also, I do enjoy celebrations, for whatever reason and I enjoyed my day at a Buckingham Palace garden party.

Kate1949 Sat 04-Jun-22 11:55:12

I don't discuss them in my 'circle'. I couldn't care less about them. However, you can't really avoid them in the news, in magazines, papers etc. Anyone who has been in the vicinity when they are on/in anything give their views obviously.

RichmondPark Sat 04-Jun-22 11:31:55

The royals are in the news almost daily so it seem unsurprising to me that people discuss them with their family and friends.

I'm no royalist but I do see the impact this Jubilee has had on my community. Our town has been full of fun, parties, an event in the park for all and has been a very positive and inclusive especially for those who are old and lonely. It's been good to see one recently bereaved neighbour out in the street enjoying the company of others and having something to smile about.

The world has gone to hell when ordinary folk think its OK to spend this amount on "celebrations" for an old woman who has lived the life of Riley while kids in the same city go hungry.

I suspect that the old woman would rather sit back in a chair and relax, paddyann54. The celebrations are not for her at all, they are for the people of the land, the tourists and PR for the future of Royalty. For the people, there has been a lot of community spirit coming together for street parties and celebrations.

Maybe being a Royalist is like being a tory ...that makes you a better class...
I am ambivalent nowadays about having a Royal Head of State or a Presidential figurehead but I do think that if it were the latter, it would probably be a rich person who has the funds or donors to campaign for the position. I doubt most "Royalists" feel they are a better class of person, many of whom will be worried about money but enjoying the celebrations.
Who knew that people discussed royals with their "circle"
The recent news that Camilla would be the Queen Consort has triggered discussion which we wouldn't normally have on a daily basis with the people we communicate with. I don't think that is terribly surprising.

Aveline Sat 04-Jun-22 10:57:05

Probably for the best all round

Sparklefizz Sat 04-Jun-22 10:51:08

So H and M 'snubbed the royal family by not attending the reception after the service?

I would think it was a welcome relief all round!

Anniebach Sat 04-Jun-22 10:48:46

They spent time at the Invictus Games without their still very young children

annodomini Sat 04-Jun-22 10:45:01

So H and M 'snubbed the royal family by not attending the reception after the service? Or so the Mail and Sun would have it. Did it not occur to anyone that they might be hurrying off to see their still very young children?

Aveline Sat 04-Jun-22 10:44:07

And a happy jubilee to you too paddyann!

paddyann54 Sat 04-Jun-22 10:25:56

Who knew that people discussed royals with their "circle" I dont give them a thought unless they are beeing thrust in my face .Then I avoid them.
I do wonder why folk who think they have "personal" wealth ever think where that came from ,wouldn;t be the accumalation of the millions Lizze and her anscestors have taken from the public for centuries?
Anyone ever counted those millions up for the past 70 years ,?
They pay for nothing so its all going offshore ....while kids go hungry .
Maybe being a Royalist is like being a tory ...that makes you a better class as once said by a Gran on here .
The world has gone to hell when ordinary folk think its OK to spend this amount on "celebrations" for an old woman who has lived the life of Riley while kids in the same city go hungry.

Everyone has a right to their opinion. A bit of tolerance is needed on this, and all subjects.

Well said Henetha!

This thread is peak Royal Gransnet.

M&H had a procession – i.e. they walked with another person.

Meghan’s clothes were nice. Meghan was trying to stand out.

It was rude to cheer Boris, that’s rude to the Queen. People booed Boris because he was rude to the Queen. There wasn’t much booing for Boris.

Why did people cheer for M&H after what they did? Disrespect and Brass neck! Obviously they were paid to do that by the PR teams. Anyway, they were booed.

The dreadful Camilla. The lovely Camilla.

Poor Diana. Nasty Diana.

Kept a low profile did they? – misguided attempt at PR.

Have you heard yourselves? ?

Exactly!

It’s hilarious that I’m not watching any of the royalty stuff but becoming weirdly gripped by the group dynamics on the subject ?

WharfedaleGran Fri 03-Jun-22 22:32:01

GagaJo

M&H are Schrödinger's royals, aren't they? At least, on GN they are.

Brilliant!! Comment of the day!! I haven’t watched any of it and am fascinated by this comment-fest! ?

Kate1949 Fri 03-Jun-22 22:27:47

Like I said icanhandthemback nor by anyone I have spoken to about it.

Kate1949 you must walk in a small circle if you ve never come across anyone who likes Camilla I don’t hear any bad words about her people were anti at first because of Diana but she’s worked magic and done everything right and is very very good for Charles the queen seems to like her company too
Richmondpark I totally agree with you and I too would have good if I d have been there: it was honest emotion

Camilla is not liked by anybody I know either even if they weren't a fan of Diana.

Who's "She", the cat's mother?
