Don’t know if it’s me or anyone else feels the same, seems that they didn’t have much success in coming back for the queens platinum jubilee, then suddenly they go back to USA, and now are showing photographs of Lillebet, .. in my opinion, a little too late. They hardly shown any of Archie since he was born, is it now to try and gain ‘brownie points’ and win the public over…. Don’t get me wrong whatever photos they show of the little ones are adorable, but to me a little too late…

So do republicans want an president or a HoS? I’m now confused.

volver Sat 11-Jun-22 10:59:24

We want a elected Head of State.

We can call them "President" or "Lord High Everything Else" or whatever we want. That's just a title and when people see the title "President" they tend to think of Trump or Macron. What we need is an overhaul of the system so that the Head of State acts in the interest of the people, irrespective of the vagaries of the elected government.

Most of the time the elected HoS would just do the ceremonial stuff. But now and again - for instance when the elected government proposes breaking international law for its own ends - an elected HoS should be able to act as a balance against that. But right now, all we get is how Prince Charles should butt out of politics.

volver your comments are often interesting and informative until the final paragraph. It is very noticeableacross threads. Where did 25 Avalon even mention Farage?
But never mind, you're with Farage on this. Charmer that he is.

25Avalon didn't mention Farage, but I did.

That's how discussions work. Her views are very like those of Farage. I pointed that out.

If people don't want to be compared with swivel eyed loons, don't have the same opinions as them.

25Avalon Sat 11-Jun-22 11:37:20

Volver how very presumptive and rude.

volver Sat 11-Jun-22 11:39:54

25Avalon - Royalty especially our future king should keep out of politics. Charles is playing into the hands of the Republicans and possibly making a few more on the way.

Farage: Unless Prince Charles wants to destroy the monarchy he better shut up fast.

??

25Avalon Sat 11-Jun-22 11:51:59

Still extremely rude.

volver Sat 11-Jun-22 12:24:48

Which bit?

25Avalon Sat 11-Jun-22 13:04:11

Volver you don’t know?

volver Sat 11-Jun-22 13:05:45

No. Seriously.

Iam64 Sat 11-Jun-22 13:11:14

I suspect The fact Charles expressed disgust at government policy in shipping refugees to Rwanda is likely to increase positive views of him

25Avalon Sat 11-Jun-22 13:14:03

I can’t be bothered to argue with ignorant people who don’t know they are being rude when they make derogatory remarks.

volver Sat 11-Jun-22 13:15:51

And I can't be bothered with people who take offense at factual posts and go off in a huff.

Have a nice day.

25Avalon Sat 11-Jun-22 13:44:06

No huff.

volver Sat 11-Jun-22 13:46:42

OK. Treating me like you would a 2-year old then.

You don't know what you've done?

Well you should.

Why do people keep trying to deny the obvious?

Here are the royal children on display at the weekend.

Apparently this is another case of “Recollections may vary”

Some discussions are not suited to administering comfort and platitudes. Politics is one such topic. If you don't want your political stance rubbished then keep away from political discussions!
